Westgate Wonderland, the most-recommended free mall playground in the west, closed on 17 February 2026. On 5 October 2026 CapitaLand's page still says only to "stay tuned". A June 2026 round-up on one of the big parenting sites lists it as open, and calls Causeway Point's Dino Playground closed, which is the wrong way round.
That is why this list exists. The 41 single-mall guides in our Malls with kids series each checked the play area on the mall's own page, with a date. This post pulls the free ones together, 27 in all, and re-checks each on 5 October 2026. Where a mall publishes no hours we say so rather than invent them.
Free means no ticket and no minimum spend. Paid indoor playgrounds like Kiztopia, Yooland and Jolly Jungle are the rainy-day fallback and are linked where they sit next to a free one. Playgrounds across the road from a mall are out; the ones on a mall's roof, in its basement or on its deck are in.
The entries carry the level, the hours, the age the equipment was built for and the catch. The at-a-glance table at the end lists all 27 with their status, so you can check one before you drive.
Quick steer
Ten entries, three of them closed. Orchard Road has four free play areas within a ten-minute walk of each other, and none of them is large.

The Playland is an open-air playground on Level 2 outside Tipo Strada at #02-152/153, built round a transport theme: a rope hot air balloon dome with a tube slide through the middle, a train with carriages, a ship with its own slide and net, a tunnel, a trampoline and a see-saw. The mall's family page on 5 October 2026 lists it open 9am to 10pm for ages 3 to 12, closed in rain or lightning. There is no shelter.
Why kids will love it: Climbing inside a hot air balloon and sliding out of the bottom, then driving the train. Best for ages 3 to 7. Come after 5pm when the surfaces have cooled; if the sky is grey, Amazonia on Level 3 is the paid fallback.

Paragon on Orchard Road. Photo: Andy Mitchell from Glasgow, UK, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 2.0
Paragon's playground is on Level 5 next to Mothercare, rebuilt in March 2024 as a forest: a three-storey tree-house tower with two slides, a four-seat spring see-saw, play panels, a low toddler hammock and a wall screen. Shoes come off at the padding. Paragon's own page on 5 October 2026 confirms the playground and kiddy rides but gives no hours; Expat Living's July 2026 list has three sessions, 11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 8pm.
Why kids will love it: Three storeys of tree house and a choice of slide down, then the see-saw with a stranger. Best for ages 2 to 6. Arrive at 11am on a weekday, not 1.30pm, and bring socks.

Tanglin Mall's free play area is on Level 3 opposite Lil Ninja Academy at #03-116, beside the capsule and claw machines. The mall's family page on 5 October 2026 says exactly that and nothing else: no photo, no age limit, no sock rule and no separate hours, so mall hours of 10am to 10pm apply. It is a corner for the ten minutes before a class, not a destination.
Why kids will love it: Somewhere to run while a sibling is in ballet or music along the corridor, with no ticket. Best for ages 2 to 5. Impressions Kids Club, 20 units along, is the paid hour if they need one.

The Sky Terrace playground is a padded outdoor corner on Level 5 of 313@Somerset, reached through the Food Republic food court: a low slide, a red play house, a springer, a mini suspension bridge and a tree-themed play panel. The mall's centre services page on 5 October 2026 lists "Kids playground, Sky Terrace" and no hours, so 10am to 10pm applies. Built for ages 2 to 5. Our guide to Orchard Central with kids covers the street around it.
Why kids will love it: A slide they can manage alone while you finish a coffee from the food court. Best for ages 2 to 4. Go before 11am or after 5pm; there is little shade, and heels are banned on the padding.

City Square Mall on Kitchener Road at night. Photo: Leongyy02, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
City Green is the 49,000 square foot park at City Square Mall's Kitchener Road entrance, rebuilt in a $50 million refit and reopened in the first quarter of 2026. Two flower-shaped towers: a yellow three-tier tower with nets, a telescope and a spiral tube slide, and a red two-tier tower with a gentler slide. A perforated canopy gives shade, not rain cover. The mall's March 2026 press release, still on its site on 5 October 2026, confirms it.
Why kids will love it: Climbing the yellow tower to the telescope, then racing a sibling down two slides. Best for ages 2 to 10. Go before 10am or after 5pm; the ground heats up by noon. Kidodo inside is the paid, air-conditioned option.

The Play Court is the open-air playground on Level 2 at the Toys"R"Us end of VivoCity: a central hill with a slide through it, recessed trampolines in three sizes, a red climbing frame with nets, hammocks and a second slide, see-saws, tunnels and cocoon seats hung from the ceiling. The mall's Play page listed it open 10am to 10pm with no charge when our guide read it on 28 September 2026; the site blocked automated reading on 5 October 2026.
Why kids will love it: Bouncing on a floor-level trampoline, then running up the hill to slide down it again. Best for ages 2 to 8. Come before 11am or after 6pm; the roof is open to the sky. Treat the fountains as a bonus, they come and go.

One floor up, the Sky Park's shallow water feature is the size of four Olympic pools by the mall's own count and knee-deep at most. No slides, no sprayers: a wading pool with a view of Sentosa, ringed by amphitheatre steps and a lawn. Our VivoCity guide confirmed it open 10am to 10pm on 28 September 2026, and a June 2026 round-up lists it the same. No shade over the water, no changing room on the roof.
Why kids will love it: Wading out until the water reaches their knees while the Sentosa Express glides past overhead. Best for ages 1 to 6. Bring swim nappies, a towel and a hat, and do it before 10.30am or after 5pm.

Kallang Wave Mall at the National Stadium. Photo: LN9267, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
The free playground at Kallang Wave is not inside the shopping floors. It is on Level 3 of The Kallang, on the roof above the former Sports Hub Library beside the fitness stations, and The Kallang's community spaces page on 5 October 2026 lists it open with climbing courses, see-saws and slides. It is outdoor and unshaded. The library beneath it closed on 12 November 2023, so there is no air-conditioned fallback next to the slides.
Why kids will love it: A climbing course with the National Stadium's roof as the backdrop, and a skate park two gates along to watch. Best for ages 3 to 8. Bring water; there is no kiosk on the roof.

Splash-N-Surf on Level 3 of Kallang Wave Mall held the free Kids Water Playground, with a 60cm toddler pool and two-storey slides, beside the $2 Lazy River and the paid Stingray sheet. The Lazy River and Stingray closed on 31 December 2025, the water playground on 31 March 2026. The Kallang's page on 5 October 2026 confirms both dates and gives no reopening date; CapitaLand's April 2026 announcement promised a replacement playscape in the first quarter of 2027.
Why kids will love it: Nothing yet, whatever the June 2026 competitor list that still has it open 9am to 8pm says. From 2027, a larger water playground with a dry kinetic zone for the days you forgot the swimsuit. Until then the OCBC Aquatic Centre next door is $1.10 a child.

The space-themed playground on Level 3 outside The Little Gym was the one free thing in Marina Square: a padded floor, a two-level climbing cube, a slide, a UFO with an alien and a satellite tunnel. On 29 September 2026 the mall's site carried a page titled "L3 Space-themed Playground (temporarily closed)"; on 5 October 2026 it does not mention the playground at all. The whole mall closes on 31 March 2027, so do not expect a rebuild.
Why kids will love it: The alien in the UFO, if it is open when you arrive. Best for ages 2 to 5. Ask at the Level 1 counter first, and plan on Kiztopia on Level 1 instead.

Six entries, all open. Tampines alone has three free play areas within a ten-minute walk, and Our Tampines Hub's is the only free sheltered one.

Tampines Mall's one play area is a free sheltered playground on the Level 4 roof terrace, through the glass doors beside Wingstop at #04-23 to 25. The main piece is a green and yellow bulldozer climbing frame for ages 2 to 5, with a low slide where the blade should be. Beside it: a plaza with mounds, a ceiling fan and two water coolers. The mall's concierge page does not mention it; our guide confirmed it on 2 October 2026.
Why kids will love it: Driving the bulldozer, then sliding off the front of it, on repeat. Best for ages 2 to 5. Go in the morning, and fill the water bottle at the coolers.

The free indoor play area is in the basement of Festive Mall: a slide and a climbing structure on soft rubber, no gate, no booking, no ticket, sized for ages 1 to 8. It is the only free indoor play in Tampines that is not a pop-up, and on a wet Saturday afternoon it is full. The PA's page on 5 October 2026 lists no hours; our guide confirmed it on 29 September 2026.
Why kids will love it: A slide they can go down 20 times while a parent stands two metres away with the groceries. Best for ages 1 to 5. Weekday mornings are empty. Jolly Jungle on Level 3 is the paid hour.

The better free playground is outdoors on the Level 2 Sky Terrace, by the escalator and lifts beside the hawker centre, on your right as you leave the lifts. It is sheltered, which matters at 3pm in Tampines, and built as an inclusive playground: a padded floor, a toddler slide, a sunken trampoline, spinners, giant fruit sculptures, garden swings and a wheelchair swing. Plenty of seating. Several 2026 lists still have it open; the PA's own page publishes no hours.
Why kids will love it: The spinners, and a trampoline sunk into the floor so nobody falls off it. Best for ages 2 to 7. Bring water; the coolers are at the hawker centre below, not up here.

The West Gateway Playground is the free play area Jewel does not advertise. It sits on Level 2 beside Tim Ho Wan, below the link bridge to Terminal 3, built for ages 2 to 5: two tree structures, a hammock swing, a slide, leaf stepping stones to a crocodile, a rope net and whisper tubes. Jewel's attractions page on 5 October 2026 lists only the paid Canopy Park; our guide confirmed the playground on 2 October 2026.
Why kids will love it: Climbing a tree indoors and shouting down a tube to a parent at the other end. It is unfenced on the walkway side. Best for ages 2 to 5. Go before 11am or after the 8pm Rain Vortex show; transit families fill it in between.

The free playground sits on the open-air Central Greenway on Level 2. Two small play areas side by side: one with a sensory wall, climbing frames, hammock swings and three sunken trampolines, the other wooden, with a balancing log, stepping posts, a see-saw and spring riders. The mall's family page on 5 October 2026 lists "the engaging playgrounds located at Level 2 Central Greenway" with no hours. No shade over the equipment.
Why kids will love it: Three trampolines they do not have to queue for, then the log to walk without holding a hand. Best for ages 2 to 6. Go before 11am or after 5pm; the rubber is hot by noon.

Parkway Parade from Marine Parade Road, March 2026. Photo: S5A-0043, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY 4.0
The Hide-Out is Parkway Parade's own outdoor playground on Level 1, and it is marine-themed: a two-level wooden ship with a tube slide, a seahorse springer, a crab see-saw, a dolphin structure with a second slide and an octopus see-saw, under a trellis that takes the edge off the sun and none of the rain. The mall's site on 5 October 2026 has no page for it; our guide confirmed it on 29 September 2026.
Why kids will love it: Steering a wooden ship while a sibling rides the seahorse. Best for ages 2 to 6. Come in the morning, and bring a change of clothes if it rained overnight; the slides hold water.

Causeway Point from Woodlands Square, December 2025. Photo: Leongyy02, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
The Dino Playground is a free outdoor water playground on the Level 7 roof deck, run in hourly sessions of 45 minutes with a cap of 80 children: a 2.2-metre dinosaur rib cage with water jets, a mist-puffing volcano with two winding slides and a Toddler Dino Zone. Our guide read the mall's family page on 2 October 2026 and found it open 10am to 9pm. A June 2026 competitor list calls it closed. It is not.
Why kids will love it: Running through the water jets inside the rib cage, then the two slides off the volcano. The toddler zone suits 2 to 5, the slides 5 to 12. Come on a weekday morning; after 7pm the lights come on.

Northpoint City in Yishun. Photo: SingaporePoly, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
The water playground on the North Wing roof is the best free water play in the north: a splash pad with ground jets, water shooters, a large tipping bucket and a blue tunnel slide, plus sheltered ship-shaped troughs for children too small for the bucket. A dry playground sits beside it, with toilets and showers on the same level. The mall publishes no hours; a June 2026 round-up has the water on 10.30am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm.
Why kids will love it: Standing under the bucket and waiting for it to tip. Best for ages 2 to 8; the troughs suit a crawling baby with a parent in the water. Bring a change of clothes for everyone and water shoes for the steps.

The other is dry: tunnel slides, trampolines, a hammock, a rope web and padded slopes with crawl tunnels. Shade sails cover most of it. Our guide confirmed it open 10am to 7pm on 2 October 2026, and it wears a Bellygom makeover until 1 November 2026.
Why kids will love it: Running from the fountains to the slide and back until they are soaked. Best for ages 2 to 7. Bring a towel and dry clothes; the dry side is wet by noon. Go before 11am or after 5pm.

Between Level 4 and Level 5 are a hammock deck with four netted hammocks and a rain garden with a water-powered spinning sculpture. It is an HDB building with no mall website; our guide confirmed the dry playground on 2 October 2026, and the building is open 7am to 11pm.
Why kids will love it: Hammocks they can lie in and a slope to run up. Best for ages 2 to 5. Go after 5pm, the terraces have no shade at noon. Merry Haus inside is the paid, cool option.

The Level 5 water playground, with its spray tunnels, jets and a small wet play structure, only ever ran at set times, and it has been closed for maintenance since December 2023. On 5 October 2026 we found no reopening date anywhere: HDB publishes none, and the most recent parenting-site visit we could find describes it cordoned off. Several playground directories still list it as the building's main draw. Treat the Level 4 dry playground as the whole offer.

The free playground at Punggol Coast Mall is not on the shopping floors. It is on Level 3 between Towers 82 and 84, above the bus interchange; enter by the stairs in the middle of the hawker centre, then right. Little Day Out described it on 30 April 2026: an elevated kelong-style structure with a pretend hut and stove, a pulley, four kinds of bridge, low swings, a rocker and tactile panels, built for ages 2 to 5.
Why kids will love it: Hauling a bucket up the pulley and sending a ball down the wooden ramps. Best for ages 2 to 5. Bring a ping-pong ball for the ramp panel, and go before 11am; the shade is thin.

NEX's amenities page on 5 October 2026 lists it; a June 2026 round-up has it open 11am to 7pm.

Four entries. One is closed, one we could not confirm, and the two at Jem are joined by a bridge to the one that closed.

Jem on Jurong Gateway Road. The Robinsons and Cathay signs in this photo have since gone. Photo: B.B.25, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0
Jem Play is the free sheltered playground on Level 5 beside Kopitiam Food Hall, rebuilt in 2018 as a honeycomb: three hexagonal climbing nets, a netted bridge, rubber hammocks, hexagonal trampolines and a crawl tunnel. Jem's overview page on 5 October 2026 describes it as open with "dry and water play". The catch is maintenance: BYKidO found about half the equipment closed on 9 September 2026, and the mall publishes no age limit or sock rule.
Why kids will love it: Bouncing on a trampoline set into the floor, then scrambling up a net to look down on the food court. Best for ages 3 to 9. It is the rainy-day fallback for Jurong East; go before lunch on a weekend.

One floor above Jem Play, the tiered rooftop garden holds the mall's water play: a shallow pool with water raining from above, small fountains and two mudskipper sculptures. Jem's page on 5 October 2026 mentions water play without saying where or whether it runs; the last dated parent report we found is from 1 November 2025, and an undated 2026 video says not all the water features operate. We list it as unconfirmed, not open.
Why kids will love it: Standing under a curtain of water in their clothes because nobody said no. Check at Level 5 first. Best for ages 2 to 7. Bring a change of clothes; the Level 5 Family Room has the nappy station and toilet.

Westgate Wonderland was the free 11,000 square foot playground on Level 4: a 10-metre tree house with nets and a winding slide, a giant flower pot with tunnels, a rock wall and a water play area. CapitaLand closed it on 17 February 2026, and on 5 October 2026 the concierge page reads "closed with effect from 17 Feb 2026. Stay tuned to what's coming up next." A June 2026 competitor list says the dry playground is open. It is not.
Why kids will love it: Nothing to love yet. The nearest free playground is Jem Play, two minutes away by the J-Walk bridge, and Yooland on Westgate's Level 3 reopened on 9 September 2026 as the paid option.

Bukit Panjang Plaza's outdoor playground is on Level 4 beside the Rooftop Plaza: a blue and green tower with rope nets, low monkey bars, a toddler play house and a swing-and-net piece for the under-fours, sized for ages 1 to 6. The mall's site on 5 October 2026 does not mention it on any page we could read, and our only descriptions are undated. Our Junction 10 guide names it as the nearest free playground.
Why kids will love it: A net to scramble up and a slide down to a parent, then the library's children's wing next door when the heat wins. Best for ages 2 to 6. Go in the morning; the roof has no shade after 11am. Check at the library entrance before you promise it.

Every entry started in one of the 41 guides in our Malls with kids series, each verified on a dated page of the mall's own site between 29 September and 2 October 2026. On 5 October 2026 we re-read each mall's page for the play area. "Verified open" means the mall's own page, or our guide's read of it within the last week, lists it open; "unconfirmed" means no 2026 source we could read says either way.
