The free water playground that made Kallang Wave Mall a family destination is closed, and will be until early 2027. The Lazy River and Stingray slides shut on 31 December 2025, the Kids Water Playground on 31 March 2026, and CapitaLand says the replacement "playscape" opens in the first quarter of 2027. If you are driving in for Splash-N-Surf, do not.
The mall itself is under renovation from May 2026 to 2028. My Kampung, the food court, closed for good on 10 August 2026. Daiso closed on 16 August. FairPrice Xtra closed on 19 April and its FairPrice Finest replacement has no opening date. Some entrances close in phases, so allow five extra minutes.
Here is what survives, and it is more than most malls have. Seven enrichment centres sit on three floors, from a climbing gym that takes four-year-olds to a wushu school with a toddler class. Three are on Jungle with a booking link. GymKraft, Xuan Sports, Nullspace and My Drum School all print their fees, which is rare.
This guide covers every kids' reason to go, place by place, with the unit, the hours and the price. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so rather than guess. For the parks and pools around the Sports Hub, read our guide to things to do with kids in Kallang, Paya Lebar and Geylang.

The water play is closed, so the play that is left is one seed pit, one arcade and a free outdoor playground on the roof of the old library. We list the closed one first because it is the one parents search for.
Splash-N-Surf was three things on Level 3 of the mall: a free Kids Water Playground with a 60cm toddler pool and two-storey slides, a $2 Lazy River, and the Stingray bodyboarding sheet at $30 to $35 an hour. The Lazy River and Stingray closed on 31 December 2025. The Kids Water Playground closed on 31 March 2026.
CapitaLand's April 2026 announcement replaces all of it with a "multi-sensory playscape" with larger water installations and a kinetic dry play zone, reopening in the first quarter of 2027. The Jungle listing predates the closure.
Why kids will love it: Nothing yet. When it reopens, a bigger water playground and a dry zone for the days you forgot the swimsuit. Best for ages 2 to 10 from 2027. Until then, the OCBC Aquatic Centre next door is $1.10 a child.

The free playground is not in the mall. It is on Level 3 of The Kallang, on the roof above the former Sports Hub Library, beside the exercise and fitness stations. The Kallang's community spaces page lists it as open and free, with climbing courses, see-saws and slides. It is outdoor and unshaded, so it is a morning or after-5pm playground.
The library beneath it closed on 12 November 2023 and has not been replaced, so there is no air-conditioned fallback next to the slides.
Why kids will love it: A climbing course with the National Stadium's roof as the backdrop, and a skate park two gates along to watch. Best for ages 3 to 8. Bring water; there is no kiosk on the roof.

Jolly Fields at #01-37 is ZOOMOOV's farming-themed seed pit: a play area filled with dried seeds instead of sand, with spades, buckets and sowing and harvesting tools, for children aged 1 to 7. It is the one indoor play space left in the mall for a toddler. ZOOMOOV's site lists it with weekday hours from 11am and weekend hours from 10.30am.
ZOOMOOV does not publish a Jolly Fields price online and we could not confirm one for 2026. Ask at the counter before the child sees the seeds.
Why kids will love it: Digging to the bottom of a pit of seeds with a real spade, then pouring them over a parent's shoes. Best for ages 1 to 4. Weekday mornings are empty.

Paco Funworld closed at #01-59 on 5 July 2026 and reopened as Arcadia X at #02-10 on 27 July 2026, the first tenant to move for the renovation. It is a family entertainment centre: arcade machines, claw machines, an interactive play area and the photo corners the operator advertises. It opens 10am to 10pm daily, which makes it the mall's only play that runs past 9pm.
Why kids will love it: A claw machine and a basketball hoop game, and a parent who has run out of other options at 8pm. Best for ages 6 to 12. Set the credit budget before you go in.

The rest of the family floor is thin. Daiso at #02-11 closed on 16 August 2026. Sparkle at #01-54 sells plushies, pop-its and imported snacks. Lorna Whiston Preschool at #01-28 is a full-day childcare centre with infant care from two months, open 7am to 7pm on weekdays, and not a drop-in. There is no toy shop and no bookshop.
Seven centres teach children in the building, three of them on Jungle. Climb Central is in the basement, the rest on Levels 1 and 2. Every one of the seven offers a trial. Han Taekwondo's is free; the others cost $20 to $110.

Photo: Climb Central, Jungle listing
Climb Central at #B1-01 is Singapore's tallest indoor climbing gym at 16 metres, with auto-belays, top rope, lead lanes and a 4-metre bouldering wall. Children climb from age 4 if they weigh 16kg and stand 1m, with one adult for every two children. The 21-metre wall in the renovation plans is for 2028; the gym stays open meanwhile.
The first visit is a set price including registration, entry and gear: $44.70 for an adult and one child, $72 for an adult and two. After that an adult pays $31.40 at Kallang and each child $19.70, with harness and shoes at $9. Bring socks.
Why kids will love it: Clipping into an auto-belay and climbing four storeys while a parent watches from the floor. Best for ages 6 to 12. Weekday afternoons have no queue for the beginner lanes.

KinGym takes 3 to under 7, BeGym 7 to under 13 for artistic gymnastics, and KidsPARK 7 to under 13 for parkour. There is no food court. My Kampung, the halal food court on Level 2, closed permanently on 10 August 2026 and nothing has replaced it. One restaurant publishes a children's meal with a price, and it also runs the mall's only kids-eat-free deal.
PastaMania at #01-21/K10 is halal, has high chairs and faces the river. The Kids' Meal is $9.90: a child's pasta, a side or dessert and a drink. Children aged 10 and under get it free with any adult main on the last Sunday of every month, dine-in, one per receipt, and the Kallang Wave outlet is on the list. It ran the same deal on Children's Day, 2 October 2026.
Why kids will love it: Bolognese fusilli with a plastic fork and a Milo, and the river outside. Best for any age. Eat at 11.30am before the stadium crowd on event days.
