Paragon with Kids: A Free Forest Playground, 2 Classes on Jungle and the Paediatric Floors Upstairs (2026)

The most expensive address on Orchard Road runs a free playground. Paragon, the mall with Gucci, Prada and Saint Laurent on its ground floor, keeps a forest-themed soft-play tower on Level 5 that costs nothing, and it is the only free playground between Orchard and Somerset MRT stations.

The floor it sits on is called Paragon Junior: 18 children's tenants in the October 2026 directory, from Toys"R"Us and Mothercare to Jacadi and Petit Bateau. Three of them teach. Edvox Music and Dance and Tree Art are on Jungle with a booking link, and MindChamps PreSchool on Level 6 is not yet listed.

The mall's official Paragon Junior page is the first thing a parent finds and the least useful. It names eight shops, leaves out all three enrichment centres, and gives the playground no hours, no age band and no shoes-off rule. Dated parenting posts disagree with each other on the hours, which we set out below.

Family favourites: play at Paragon

One playground, a row of kiddy rides beside it, and the biggest concentration of children's shops on Orchard Road. The toy shops get numbered entries because a parent will spend as long in them as in the play area.

1. Paragon Junior playground, Level 5

The playground is on Level 5 next to Mothercare, in a sectioned-off corner with seats around it. It was rebuilt in March 2024 as a forest: a three-storey jungle adventure tower with two slides, a four-seat spring seesaw, play panels and a low hammock for toddlers, and an interactive screen on the wall. Shoes come off before the padded area. Entry is free and unstaffed.

It is not large. A seven-year-old will have done everything in ten minutes; a three-year-old will stay an hour. Coin-operated kiddy rides sit just outside it.

The hours are the catch. The mall publishes none. Expat Living's July 2026 list gives three daily sessions, 11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm and 5pm to 8pm; 2024 posts had 10am to 10pm with a 3pm to 4pm cleaning break. Treat the session times as current and do not arrive at 1.30pm.

Why kids will love it: Climbing three storeys of tree house and choosing which slide to come down, then a go on the seesaw with a stranger. Best for ages 2 to 6. Come at 11am on a weekday, and bring socks for the padded floor.

2. Toys"R"Us, Level 6

Toys"R"Us takes #06-12 to 18, the floor above the playground, and is the reason half the families in the lift are going up rather than down. It is a full-size branch with the baby and pram section as well as toys, open the mall's full 10am to 10pm, and it is the one shop on the two children's floors where a birthday present comes in under $20.

Why kids will love it: The LEGO aisle and the ride-on cars. Best for any age, and the standard reward for sitting through a class downstairs. Go after the class, not before.

3. The Better Toy Store, Level 5

The Better Toy Store at #05-12/16 is the other toy shop, and the opposite kind: wooden, open-ended and award-winning toys chosen for what the shop calls play value, with the brands the department stores do not carry. It is where the Level 5 preschool parents buy the puzzle, and it is a few steps from the playground, so one adult can shop while the other supervises.

Why kids will love it: Toys on open shelves they are allowed to touch, and a staff member who will show them how the marble run works. Best for ages 1 to 7.

4. Mothercare, Level 5

Mothercare at #05-24/29 is the chain's Singapore flagship and the shop the playground is built beside. It sells for mothers-to-be, babies and children up to eight, and this branch is the one to test a pram in, because it is large enough to push one around. The chain has 14 stores in Singapore and has traded here since 1984.

Why kids will love it: Not much, which is why the playground is next door. Parents will like the pram floor and the fact that the nursing room is on the same level. Best for the under-twos.

5. Shugar Prestige, the kids' spa

Shugar Prestige at #05-08A is a nail and facial salon with a children's corner that no other Orchard mall has: pedicure tub chairs fitted with iPads and headphones, a Little Princess manicure and pedicure with child-safe polish, and a Little Princess facial finished with a chocolate mask. Mother and daughter can book side-by-side chairs. Prices are not published. It is a treat, not a routine.

Why kids will love it: A chair with its own iPad, a foot bath and a colour they chose. Best for ages 4 to 10. Book a weekday afternoon; weekends are the adult trade.

The rest of Paragon Junior is clothes. SEED Heritage at #05-47/48, Le Petit Society at #05-35, Ralph Lauren Children at #05-17/18, Molo at #05-31, Château de Sable at #05-35A, Gingersnaps at #05-39, Jacadi Paris at #05-36, Petit Bateau at #05-37/38, FILA Kids at #05-32/32A, bloomB at #05-19/20, Milkbarn at #05-31A and Nest Designs at #05-29A. None of them is cheap.

Two more Level 5 tenants matter to a parent. bmb Holistic Maternity Wellness at #05-07A does prenatal and postnatal care and lactation support. Merlin Frame Maker at #05-30 will frame the Tree Art painting.

The paediatricians are upstairs. Paragon Medical, the 20-storey tower above the shops, is reached by the Tower 1 lifts at Lobby E or F. Kinder Clinic at #07-02/03 is one of Singapore's largest paediatric group practices, open weekdays 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to noon. I-Kidz Children's Clinic at #20-03 opens weekday mornings and most afternoons.

Learn and play: classes at Paragon you can book on Jungle

Three tenants teach children at Paragon, two on Level 5 and a preschool on Level 6. Two are on Jungle and come first. One, Tree Art, offers a free trial. Baker's Brew's junior baking studio, which 2021 posts still send you to, is not in the 2026 directory.

6. Edvox Music and Dance

Edvox at #05-33/33A is a music school first and a dance school second, and it has been at Paragon long enough to have an orchestra. Lessons are one-to-one in piano, violin, cello, guitar, ukulele, flute, drums and viola, with group theory, and the Funtime DoReMe class for ages three and a half to five mixes singing, keyboard, violin and percussion.

Dance is Royal Academy of Dance ballet from pre-school to vocational grades, plus modern jazz, and Orchard is the only Edvox branch that teaches it. Fees and trial offers are not published.

Why kids will love it: A violin at three and a half, and a concert hall recital to play it in. Best for ages 4 to 12 who want an instrument rather than a music-and-movement class. Call before you come; there is no walk-in timetable.

7. Tree Art

Tree Art at #05-34/34A, next door to Edvox, is the chain's Orchard campus, one of 16 in Singapore. The programme runs by age: Creative Art for 3 to 8, Professional Art from 8, Portfolio Preparation and DSA Visual Art for 8 to 18. The trial is a free 60-minute class for ages 3 to 18, and children under eight get an extra 30 minutes to finish their picture.

New students pay an $80 registration fee before GST. Term fees are not published. The studio is closed on Mondays and opens at 1.30pm on weekdays.

Why kids will love it: Real paint on a real canvas, and a Starry Night of their own to carry home past the Gucci window. Best for ages 3 to 8. Book the free trial for a Saturday morning, when the campus opens at 9.30am.

8. MindChamps PreSchool

MindChamps at #06-19/20 is a full preschool for 18 months to 6 years, on the Toys"R"Us floor, and it is the only childcare inside an Orchard Road mall. It runs playgroup, nursery and kindergarten with a bilingual curriculum, and its teachers do up to 200 hours of training before they start. The current offer is 10 per cent off school fees for the first 12 months. Centre visits are booked online.

Why kids will love it: A classroom with a toy shop and a playground on the two floors below it. Best for ages 2 to 6. Book the tour for a weekday morning when the rooms are full.

Eat with kids at Paragon

Paragon has no food court. Of the 60-odd food outlets in the October 2026 directory, none publishes a kids' menu or a kids-eat-free deal, and we checked. The useful floor is Basement 1, where the casual restaurants, the supermarket and the sweet shops are, one lift ride from the playground.

9. Din Tai Fung: no kids' menu, but kids' dining sets and high chairs

Din Tai Fung at #B1-03/05 is the family default in the building. There is no children's menu; what it has is high chairs, booster seats and a children's dining set with the dumpling mascot on it, and a menu of plain fried rice, steamed buns and xiao long bao that a three-year-old will eat. The queue at noon on a weekend is the longest in the basement, so put your name down before the playground, not after.

Why kids will love it: The dumpling bowl and chopsticks they get to keep for the meal, and watching the kitchen fold dumplings through the glass. Best for ages 2 and up. Go at 11.30am or after 2pm.

10. 313@Somerset Sky Terrace, the other free playground, seven minutes away

If the Paragon playground is between sessions, the nearest other free play is the Sky Terrace on Level 5 of 313@Somerset, a seven-minute walk east along Orchard Road. It is a padded outdoor playground with low equipment, open 10am to 10pm, and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. K Bowling Club at #03-27 in the same mall is on Jungle for ages 5 and up.

Why kids will love it: A playground they can see the sky from, and a bowling lane with bumpers afterwards. Best for ages 2 to 6 on the terrace. Go in the morning; it is outdoors.

Getting there

Paragon is on the south side of Orchard Road, opposite Ngee Ann City, between Orchard and Somerset MRT.

• By MRT: Orchard (NS22/TE14) Exit A is a five-minute walk east along Orchard Road. Somerset (NS23) is about seven minutes the other way.
• By bus: 7, 14, 14e, 16, 65, 106, 111, 123, 175 and 502 stop outside Lucky Plaza, next door.
• By car and taxi: The taxi stand, drop-off point and car park entrance are all on Bideford Road, behind the mall.

Make a day of it

Everything Paragon lacks for a child, from a food court to a paid playground, is within ten minutes on foot.
