The best playground at City Square Mall is not in the mall, and it does not cost anything. The two flower-shaped climbing towers at City Green, the 49,000 square foot park between the mall and Farrer Park MRT, opened in March 2026 at the end of a $50 million, three-phase refit that began in September 2023.
For the first time since the mall opened in 2009, a family can get off the train, play for an hour under a perforated canopy, and go home without spending a cent. That changes how to read the rest of the building. AIRZONE, the suspended-net playground strung through the atrium from Level 2 to Level 6, is still the reason most parents have heard of the mall.
Kidodo on Level 2 is the cheap indoor option for toddlers. Giggle Jungle by Yooland arrived on Level 4 in late 2025 with a three-storey spiral slide. All three are paid, and none of them is where a Farrer Park parent now starts. What City Square Mall has that no other mall on the North East Line has is Levels 6 to 9.
The mall's own directory lists 24 education and enrichment tenants, from Heguru and Sparkanauts for babies to Kawai Music, Kodecoon and Dancepointe for the primary years. Only two of them are on Jungle. The rest are named below with units, so you know which lift to take. For the streets around the mall, read our guide to things to do with kids in Bugis, Bras Basah and Little India.
Quick steer
The playground at City Green is the centrepiece of the 2026 refit, and it replaced the old one wholesale. Two flower-shaped climbing towers stand side by side: a yellow three-tier tower with vertical nets, a telescope at the top, talking tubes and a spiral tube slide, and a red two-tier tower with a gentler slide for younger children.
Around them sit a balance and sensory zone with stepping pods and hammock swings, a raised wooden deck around the trees with a small slide, and a musical zone with spring riders near the mall door. A perforated canopy gives shade from the sun but not shelter from rain.
Why kids will love it: Climbing the yellow tower to the telescope, then racing a sibling down the two slides. Best for ages 2 to 10, with the red tower and the wooden deck for the under-fours. Go before 10am or after 5pm; the canopy has holes in it and the ground heats up by noon.

Next to the playground stands a decommissioned SMRT train cabin, refitted as a zero-energy climate education hub. Inside, children scan QR codes for a digital character hunt and redeem a prize from a capsule machine at the end. It is a 15-minute activity, not an afternoon, but it is free and it is the thing they will talk about on the train home.
The mall lists it as open from 11am; BYKidO's March 2026 visit recorded it closed on Mondays and shutting at 6.30pm on weekdays and 7.30pm at weekends, so do not plan a Monday around it.
Why kids will love it: Being allowed inside a real train that does not move, and winning a capsule for finding all the characters. Best for ages 4 to 9. Bring a phone with a camera for the QR hunt.

AIRZONE at #02-K4/K10 is the suspended-net playground that hangs through the mall's north atrium from Level 2 up to Level 6, and it is still the only one of its kind in Singapore. The nets carry a ball pit on the first tier, giant inflatable balls for dodgeball on the second, inflatable presents to rest on and a slide down from the fourth.
A session is 60 minutes, of which about 45 are play after the safety briefing, and you must arrive 20 minutes early. Sessions run from 10am, up to ten a day.
The rules matter. Socks and covered shoes are compulsory, Crocs with jibbitz are turned away, the weight limit is 120kg, and each session holds 59 people. Children under 5 need a paying adult on the nets with them; 5 and 6-year-olds need a parent watching from the side.
Why kids will love it: Bouncing four storeys above the shoppers and looking down through the mesh at them. Best for ages 6 to 12. Book online, where the single ticket is $27.90; the weekday two-to-play at $55 is the cheapest way in for a parent and child.

Kidodo on Level 2. Photo: Kidodo Indoor Playground, Jungle listing
Kidodo at #02-19A is the small one, and that is its advantage with a toddler. Three compact tiers hold a ball pit, trampolines, a spiral slide that winds from the top tier to the floor, climbing and balance beams, an interactive wall game and a simulated sand pit. You can see the whole room from the bench, which you cannot say of the other two. Tickets admit one child and one adult, and an extra adult is $6.
Prices have held since 2022: $12 for an hour and $22 for two on a weekday, $15 and $26 at the weekend. A 10-hour value pass is $100 and a 20-hour pass is $189. Socks for both of you.
Why kids will love it: The spiral slide, taken 20 times in a row. Best for ages 1 to 6; a nine-year-old will be done in 20 minutes. Weekday mornings are near empty.

Giggle Jungle at #04-38 is the newest and the biggest of the three, opened by the Yooland operator in late 2025 on the Level 4 dining floor. It is jungle-themed and built upwards: a three-storey spiral slide, a double-lane racer slide, an LED rainbow slide, a high-ropes obstacle course and a tribal climbing wall, with a trampoline zone, a bead pit and a two-storey teddy bear house for the smaller ones.
The high ropes and the climbing wall are for children aged 4 and up who are at least 1.1m tall. Entry covers one child and one adult: $30 for an hour, $35 for two hours, $45 for the whole day. Extra adults are $10 an hour and babies under 12 months are free. Socks are compulsory and sold at $3 a pair if you forget.
Why kids will love it: The high ropes, which a seven-year-old will do six times, and the three-storey slide. Best for ages 4 to 10. The two-hour ticket is the right one; the $5 step from one hour to two is the best deal in the building.

The smaller kids' reasons are spread across the floors.

Photo: Tree Art, Jungle listing
Tree Art's Farrer Park campus is at #04-18, on the same floor as Giggle Jungle, which makes it the easiest class in the building to pair with play. The school runs Creative Art for ages 3 to 8, Professional Art from 8, Portfolio Preparation for 8 to 18 and DSA Visual Art coaching for primary and secondary pupils.
It offers a free trial class for any child from 3 to 18. Fees are not published. The studios open Tuesday to Friday afternoons and all day at weekends, and close on Mondays.
Why kids will love it: Acrylic on a real canvas from the first lesson, not a colouring sheet. Best for ages 4 to 10. Book the free trial for a Saturday morning and let them run Giggle Jungle after.

City Square Mall has about 100 food outlets, and the family ones cluster on three floors: the Food Republic food court on Basement 3, fast food on Basement 1 and Level 1, and Level 4, renamed Gastro Square. One feeds under-fives free daily, one gives a free kids' meal monthly.
Food Republic at #B3-04 is the food court, two floors below the supermarket, with chicken rice, fishball noodles, ban mian, Korean and Japanese stalls. It is where a family with one child who wants noodles and one who wants tonkatsu ends up, and the tray-return trolleys double as a stroller lane. It is at the bottom of the building, so the lift from the car park at B3 is the quick way in.
Why kids will love it: Choosing their own stall. Best for any age. Eat at 11.30am or after 1.30pm; the office crowd from Kitchener Link takes the tables between.
