Most kids' classes at Parkway Parade are not in Parkway Parade. Seven are in the mall and its office tower, three of them on Level 7 since July 2025. The other 12 are a two-minute walk across Marine Parade Central, in Parkway Centre and HDB Blocks 86 and 87, the east's densest cluster of art, music, dance and Chinese schools. Walk only the shopping floors and you miss two thirds of it.
It was one of Singapore's first suburban malls, open since December 1983: 270 stores on seven floors, a Toys"R"Us on Level 2, a preschool on Level 4, a 32-stall food hall in the basement and a free marine-themed playground on Level 1, there long enough for the ship's paint to fade. It has no indoor playground. The nearest paid one is HappyWiz at iMall, three buildings up Marine Parade Central.
One thing to know before you plan a library visit. Marine Parade Public Library closed in May 2022 and was due to reopen in the first quarter of 2026 inside the rebuilt community building at 278 Marine Parade Road. As of our last check in September 2026, NLB had not announced an opening date. Details are in "Make a day of it".
For the rest of the neighbourhood, read our guide to things to do with kids in Katong, Joo Chiat and Marine Parade.
Quick steer
The Hide-Out is the mall's own outdoor playground on Level 1, on the Marine Parade Road side of the building, above the car ramp and facing the Cote D'Azur condominium. It is free, open the same hours as the mall, and marine-themed.
There is a two-level wooden ship with a tube slide, a seahorse springer and a crab seesaw, and a second dolphin structure with a slide, a yellow octopus seesaw and a play panel. Both sit under a trellis that takes the edge off the sun and none of the rain.
It is not big. A parent with a six-year-old will get 20 minutes out of it; a parent with a three-year-old will get an hour.
Why kids will love it: Steering a wooden ship while a sibling rides the seahorse. Best for ages 2 to 6. Come in the morning before the trellis stops helping, and bring a change of clothes if it rained overnight, because the slides hold water.

That is the only play area in the building. The Zoomoov animal rides that parenting sites still list on Level 2 are not in the mall's 2026 store directory, so do not promise them. What the mall does have is kids' retail, nearly all on one floor.
Nineteen kids' enrichment centres operate within 200 metres of the mall's Level 1 entrance. Thirteen are on Jungle. Six offer a free trial or assessment, and two publish their fees. The entries run by building, mall side first.

Photo: Coding Lab, Jungle listing
Coding Lab's east campus is at #10-06 in the Parkway Parade office tower, reached by the tower lifts rather than the mall escalators. It teaches Scratch, app development and Python in four age bands, 5 to 6, 7 to 9, 10 to 12 and 13 to 18, in courses of five two-hour lessons or as holiday camps.
It is one of two centres here that publish a price: Scratch 1 for ages 7 to 9 is $435 before GST for the five-lesson course, or $485 as a two-day full-day camp with lunch. Class ratio is capped at one teacher to eight children.
Why kids will love it: Making a cat sprite chase a mouse they drew themselves, then showing the game to a parent who cannot beat it. Best for ages 7 to 12. Book the weekly class rather than the camp for a first term; five short lessons tell you more than two long days.

A free assessment is, and a child who enrols after it gets a starter kit and a discounted rate.
Why kids will love it: Reading a whole book aloud without help, then being asked what happens next. Best for ages 4 to 10. The Saturday 9am slots fill first; ask for a weekday afternoon if you can do school pick-up.

New students get a free one-to-one evaluation. Fees are not published.
Why kids will love it: Honestly, the child who loves this one already loves maths. For the rest, the puzzle-first Olympiad problems land better than worksheets. Best for ages 7 to 12. Closed Mondays.

Parkway Parade has one restaurant with a published kids' menu price, one 600-seat food hall with a family corner, and a long tail of chains that will bring a high chair. BYKidO's August 2026 kids-eat-free list includes no Parkway Parade outlet, so do not plan around one.
Kopitiam Food Hall in the basement at #B1-85 to 87 and #B1-112 to 146 replaced the old food court in April 2025 with 32 stalls, 600 seats and a Peranakan-themed corner it calls the Family Cove, designed with The Intan museum.
It opens at 7am, which makes it the place for breakfast before a 9am Saturday class, and paying with the FairPrice Group app takes 10 per cent off. Stalls include Hjh Maimunah, Blanco Court Beef Noodles, a fruit and juice counter and a Western grill.
