The 6 Best Art Classes for Kids in Katong, Joo Chiat and Marine Parade (2026)

Jungle holds 17 listings under art in Katong, Joo Chiat and Marine Parade. Only six passed our checks as art classes that take children, at an address we could confirm. The other 11 include a Peranakan museum, a kintsugi studio that runs one-off adult workshops, a prenatal and postpartum wellness studio, a Wushu school and a sailing centre. We checked every one at the operator's own website on 21 September 2026, and this list is what survived.

The second surprise is where the classes have gone. Parkway Centre on Marine Parade Central had three art schools on Jungle. Two have moved out. HiArt now teaches at KINEX on Tanjong Katong Road, in the same mall as Tree Art, and Let Colour Soar names i12 Katong as its branch. If you are looking for art classes in Katong today, the address with the most schools on this list is KINEX, a mall 400 metres from Paya Lebar MRT.

Each entry below gives the ages, the class times, the price where one is published, the Google rating and the nearest MRT. Every school can be booked on Jungle. This is a ranking of the art schools Jungle lists in these estates, not a survey of every studio in the east. 1. Tree Art

Tree Art was founded in Singapore in 2015 and says it has enrolled 35,997 students since. It has two campuses in these estates: the Paya Lebar Campus at KINEX, ranked here, and the East Coast Campus at i12 Katong, #03-16/17, which you can book on Jungle separately. Both teach the same REMAT curriculum. Creative Art covers ages 3 to 8, Professional Art starts at 8, and Portfolio Preparation and DSA Visual Art run to 18.

Creative Art classes are capped at one teacher to six children. Media run from painting and drawing to printmaking, sculpture and ceramics, and every material is supplied. Parents do not sit in, at the trial or after it.

Why kids will love it: At 3 and 4, lessons are drawing games such as Colour Relay and Shape Transformation, with finger painting and monoprinting. By 4 and 5 they are making clay reliefs of dinosaurs, and by 6 to 8 they are working in watercolour and collage after Monet and Van Gogh. The first class is free and lasts 60 minutes, so a shy child can try it before you commit.

2. KiLiO ART

KiLiO stands for Kinaesthetic Little Ones. It is a boutique studio on the second floor of a shophouse on East Coast Road. The children's class takes ages 4 and up and teaches the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design through themed projects in a range of media. The studio teaches process art, which puts the making ahead of the finished piece.

Each class runs 1 hour 45 minutes and is drop-off. Packages belong to one child and cannot be shared with a sibling. Up to two missed lessons roll over to the next package, and you need to give 48 hours' notice to move a class. The same room hosts adult art jamming and parties, so check the slot you want is a children's class.

Why kids will love it: There is no sample to copy. A child gets a theme, a table of materials and nearly two hours to work it out, then goes home with something that looks like theirs rather than the teacher's. For a four-year-old, 1 hour 45 minutes is long, which is what the $58 trial is for.

3. Global Art, Parkway Centre

Global Art is a franchise brand established in 1999. Its Parkway Centre school is on level 6, run by principal Shawn Tan. The Visual Art programme is workbook-based and moves children up by age: Junior at 3 to 4, Foundation at 5 to 6, Pre-Basic at 6 to 7, Basic at 7 to 9 and Intermediate at 10 to 12. The school also runs handicraft, cartoons and comics, acrylic painting and clay.

One caveat. Global Art has a single Google review, so its rank here is mostly the local average, not proof of anything. Its online timetable is an image from 2019, so ask for the current one.

Why kids will love it: The youngest group makes its own games, stories and puzzles out of the art activities. From 7, children draw fruit, animals and people from a story prompt and build them into an original illustration, then colour it with blending and toning tricks. Enrolment starts with a free consultation and a diagnostic test, which tells you which level your child would join.

4. Little Artists Art Studio

Little Artists has taught art for 28 years and has the most reviews of any school on this list, 279. Its main studio is in the shophouses at Mandarin Gardens on Siglap Road, at the Siglap end of Marine Parade. There is a second studio at Siglap Centre, which Jungle does not list. Programmes run by age: Little Blossoms from 2.5 to 6.5, Just Drawing from 4 to 8, Junior Picasso from 6.5 to 8.5, and Budding Artists and How to Draw Anything from 8 to 17. It also runs art for children with special needs and portfolio preparation.

Little Blossoms and Junior Picasso run at one teacher to four children, the smallest ratio published by any school here. Lessons are once a week and last 1 to 2 hours. Mandarin Gardens has free parking in unnumbered bays.

Why kids will love it: Junior Picassos meet the work of the Master Artists and then try the same ideas in watercolour, ink, soft pastel, charcoal, clay and terracotta. Toddlers in Little Blossoms paint, collage, cut and paste and model clay. With four children to a teacher, there is little waiting for help.

5. HiArt

HiArt was established in 2010 and has schools across Singapore. The one it calls Marine Parade has moved out of Parkway Centre and now teaches at KINEX, #02-14, on the same floor as Tree Art. Children are split into eight age bands, from H1 at 2.5 to 3 years up to H8 at 16, and move through five programme levels, from Harbouring Art, the fundamentals, to Trailblazing Art. There is also a DSA preparation course, an IB Visual Arts programme and a master class for gifted students.

HiArt's rating, 4.5 from 8 reviews, is the lowest on this list. The registration fee is published: $75 before GST, plus a refundable deposit and materials.

Why kids will love it: Lessons are themed and matched to each age band, so a five-year-old is not sitting in a class pitched at nine-year-olds. The early levels mix drawing in different media with loose, expressive painting. Older children can work towards a portfolio for the DSA or IB.

6. 3Arts Pottery

3Arts is a community pottery studio on Joo Chiat Place, and it is not a children's school. Most of what it sells is for adults: courses, firing workshops and a studio membership. It earns its place because its hand-building trial takes children from 5 as a drop-off class, and because it runs workshops that children can join on their own. It is the only school on this list built around clay.

The trial lasts 2.5 hours and needs at least two students to run. Each child's piece is fired and glazed in the studio and is ready to collect after eight weeks. The Level 1 hand-building course is 10 lessons of 3 hours and includes nine fired pieces. The course page gives no minimum age, so ask before booking a child. A parent-child session on the electric wheel is for children aged 7 to 13, with a parent at the wheel beside them.

Why kids will love it: Real clay, real tools and a real kiln. Children shape a piece by hand, add charms and decorations, and the studio fires and glazes it for them. The next drop-off workshops are the Halloween Trinket sessions on 26 September and 11 October, 1.30pm to 3.30pm, at $65 a person. If you stay for the trial, you pay as a second student.

What art classes cost in Katong

Four of the six schools publish no term fee at all. These are the prices that are published, read on 21 and 22 September 2026.

3Arts and KiLiO are the only schools with a full course price. At 3Arts, $665 for 30 hours works out at $22.17 an hour, with nine fired pieces to take home. KiLiO's 10-class package is $550, or $55 a class. For the others, ask for the term fee, the registration fee and the material fee separately, because HiArt's terms show all three can apply.

How to choose

1. Match the age bands. HiArt splits children into eight bands from 2.5, Global Art into five from 3 to 12, and Little Artists runs from 2.5 to 17. KiLiO has a single children's class from 4. Tree Art moves children to Professional Art at 8.

2. Ask about class size. Little Artists publishes one teacher to four children and Tree Art a cap of six. The other four do not publish a ratio, so ask before the trial.

3. Decide whether you want to stay. Tree Art, KiLiO and 3Arts are drop-off. At 3Arts a parent who stays pays as a second student.

4. Check the exam track. For a DSA in visual art, Tree Art runs DSA Visual Art and Portfolio Preparation, HiArt runs a DSA preparation course and IB Visual Arts, and Little Artists runs portfolio preparation.

5. Pick the medium and the journey. 3Arts is the only clay studio. KINEX, with two schools, is 400 metres from Paya Lebar, Parkway Centre is 140 metres from Marine Parade, and Little Artists is the one to drive to, with free parking.
