TL;DR – The Quick Version

We checked every school Jungle lists for speech and drama, public speaking or acting against its own website, and 9 run weekly classes for children between 3 and 16. Five publish their fees: $38 to $114.50 a class. Per hour, four of them charge $38 to $48 for under-12s, and Speech Academy Asia is the outlier at about $76. Classes run 60 to 120 minutes. Trinity and LAMDA exams are optional, from age 8, at three schools. Browse drama and theatre classes on Jungle.

Most speech and drama schools in Singapore do not publish their prices. Of the nine on Jungle that run weekly classes for children, five do, and they are closer together than you might expect.

An hour at ACT 3 Drama Academy costs $38 for children up to 11. An hour at Public Speaking Academy costs $43 to $48, at Sing'theatre $40 to $43.50 and at Wild Rice $48 with GST. Speech Academy Asia charges $114.50 for 90 minutes, about $76 an hour.

What a child does in that hour differs far more than the price. At ACT 3 a 4-year-old plays out stories with voice and movement. At Public Speaking Academy nobody under 7 is taken, and an 8-year-old writes and delivers a short speech, then gets feedback on it.

This guide covers the 9 schools on Jungle that run speech and drama, public speaking or acting classes for children aged 3 to 16. We checked each one on its own website, timetable or booking system on 30 October 2026. Every card says what each age is taught, for how long, how big the class is where the school says, whether there is an exam, and what it costs.

Start with the difference between the three kinds of class, then what each age gets, the exams and the three quick picks. After that every school is grouped by area, with a fees table and a summary at the end.

Speech and drama, public speaking or acting?

The three names cover different classes, and schools use them loosely.

Speech and drama is performing words someone else wrote: poems, prose and scenes from plays, plus voice work, improvisation and drama games. It is what Trinity College London examines as Speech and Drama. Centre Stage, ACT 3, Wild Rice and Emerge teach it in this form, and Speech Academy Asia runs a separate speech and drama class.

Public speaking is your own words. Children plan and deliver speeches, answer impromptu questions, host as an emcee and practise for oral exams. Public Speaking Academy and Speech Academy Asia are built on it, and Zoom! Academy runs an emcee and hosting course. Speech Academy Asia puts the difference plainly: public speaking classes teach children to write their own speeches, while speech and drama trains performing.

Acting is character and scene work. Zoom! Academy and Centre Stage teach acting for the camera, and Sing'theatre, Emerge and Creative Hearts teach musical theatre, which adds singing and dance. If your child is shy, Speech Academy Asia's own advice is to start with drama, because playing a character feels safer than speaking as yourself.

Schools on Jungle9

At 3 to 6, it is play with a story. ACT 3's classes for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds are an hour of voice, movement, role-play and storytelling. Centre Stage's Introductory Stage, from 3 and a half, starts from a picture book and is drop-off. Sing'theatre's Mini Stars sing, dance and act. Speech Academy Asia takes children from 3 into 90-minute classes, the longest for this age, and Zoom! Academy's class for 4 to 6 is in Mandarin.

From 7, the routes split. Public Speaking Academy's youngest group, 7 to 8, works through storytelling, describing a picture, speech-crafting and emceeing across a one-year syllabus. Drama classes move to scripts: Centre Stage's Stages 4 to 6, for 8 to 12, use play scenes, monologues and duologues. Wild Rice's 9 to 12 class works through fantasy, comedy and drama in a year, run like a theatre troupe. Exam classes start at 8 at Centre Stage and Sing'theatre.

At 13 to 16, classes get longer. ACT 3's teen class and Sing'theatre's Broadway Stars both run two hours. Public Speaking Academy keeps a separate 13 to 18 group at 90 minutes. Wild Rice moves teenagers into Singapore Youth Theatre, a 10-month programme that needs an audition. ACT 3 stops at 15 and Speech Academy Asia at 16. Centre Stage's exam classes and Sing'theatre run to 18.

Is your child ready for a speech or drama class?

They can wait their turn while other children perform. If not yet, a class for 3 to 5 at ACT 3 or Sing'theatre is an hour built on games and stories.
They will speak in front of a small group, even quietly. If not yet, start with drama rather than public speaking: a character is easier to hide behind than your own speech.
They can manage a 90-minute class. Public Speaking Academy, Speech Academy Asia and Wild Rice run 90 minutes. ACT 3, Centre Stage and Sing'theatre's younger classes are an hour.

A trial will tell you more than any checklist. Speech Academy Asia's 90-minute trial is free. Emerge charges $28, Public Speaking Academy $29 and ACT 3 $40, or $50 for teenagers.

Trinity and LAMDA exams: who prepares for them

Two UK exam boards examine speech and drama in Singapore: Trinity College London and LAMDA. Trinity runs graded exams in Speech and Drama, Acting, Musical Theatre, Performance Arts and Communication Skills. Its Speech and Drama exams are solo, from Initial to Grade 8, and can be taken face to face or by video. Its Acting exams can be solo, in pairs, in groups or as a full production.

Three schools here prepare children for these exams, and all three call them optional. Centre Stage runs Trinity and LAMDA classes from 8 in Speech and Drama, Solo Acting and Musical Theatre, with Trinity Acting for Screen from 12. Its teachers decide when a child is entered, and exam fees are paid to Trinity on top of the term fee.

Sing'theatre runs a LAMDA Musical Theatre class for 8 to 12, capped at 8 children, and tells parents to budget about $100 an exam.

Speech Academy Asia prepares children for Trinity's Communication Skills grades and says the certificate can go into a Direct School Admission portfolio. Emerge teaches its musical theatre classes on the Trinity Musical Theatre syllabus. ACT 3, Wild Rice, Public Speaking Academy and Zoom! Academy do not prepare for exams. Sing'theatre notes that LAMDA Grades 6 to 8 carry UCAS points for UK university applications.

ACT 3 has the lowest published price per hour in this guide: $380 for ten one-hour classes, or $38 a class, for every age from 3 to 11. Classes are grouped tightly by age and run mostly on Saturdays at Cairnhill, with more at Kovan and Punggol. Teenagers get two hours for $53. The catch: class sizes are not published, and the website still shows last term's lower fee.

Best for public speaking

Public Speaking Academy

Public Speaking Academy publishes more than any other school here: the fee for each age group, a class size of 12 at most, and a timetable for each branch. Every class is 90 minutes, half technique and half practice, and every child gets feedback each session. The syllabus changes theme monthly, from storytelling to persuasive and impromptu speeches. Nothing under 7, and you commit for three months.

Price: $260 for 4 lessons ($65 a class) at 7 to 8, up to $72.50 a class at 13 to 18. Trial $29.

Centre Stage has the clearest route from a first drama class to exams and the stage. Creative Drama starts at 3 and a half. From 8 a child can join Trinity or LAMDA exam classes, or audition for On Stage! Acting, a two-hour class with two performances a year, one of them in a theatre. Trinity Acting for Screen starts at 12. The catch: no term fees are published, and places come from a waiting list.

Drama and Acting classes use storytelling, improvisation and character work, moving on to scripts and monologues. The musical theatre classes add singing and choreography, and the school says it is not a pure drama class. They follow the Trinity Musical Theatre and Australian CSTD syllabi together. Classes usually have 6 to 10 children, and there is a recital each year with extra rehearsals. Class times are not published.

Price: Emerge's class prices start from $238 for 10 lessons of 45 minutes. The site does not say which classes that covers or what drama costs. Contact them to confirm.

Every class mixes singing, dancing and acting. Mini Stars (3 to 4) and Rising Stars (5 to 6) run an hour, Super Stars (7 to 9) 90 minutes, and West End Stars (10 to 13) and Broadway Stars (13 to 18) two hours. The autumn semester ends in a showcase; the January to June semester puts on a full musical. The LAMDA class for 8 to 12 takes 8 children at most.

Times: Mini Stars on Saturday at 9.30am, 11am and 1pm. Super Stars on Tuesday at 4.30pm and Saturday at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Broadway Stars on Wednesday at 6pm. These are Semester 1 2026 times.

Public Speaking for Kids works on writing a speech, using metaphor and repetition, body language and tone, and breathing techniques for nerves. The school also runs speech and drama, debate, oral and DSA classes, and a Chinese public speaking class. It is the dearest school here that publishes fees. Fees for a term are not refunded if a child leaves mid-term. Twelve more branches, from Jurong East to Hougang, are not yet on Jungle.

These are the theatre company's own weekly classes, taught by its teaching artists. Ages 5 to 8 work through three original stories a year, each built on a type of character such as animals, giants or robots. Ages 9 to 12 work through fantasy, comedy and drama. Each 10-week term ends with a showcase for a live audience. Teenagers move on to Singapore Youth Theatre by audition. No trial is mentioned.

Times: Saturday or Sunday at 10am, 11.45am, 2pm or 4pm. Term 1 2027 runs from 2 or 3 January to 13 or 14 March.

Kids Screen Acting, for 7 to 12, is eight weekly 90-minute lessons for up to 10 children, ending in a filmed shoot and showreel, and it stresses Mandarin pronunciation. The Little Emcee hosting course, in English or Chinese, takes up to 8. Teen courses run to 17.

Half of each class is technique and half is practice with feedback. There are no exams. A second branch at Coronation Plaza on Bukit Timah Road is not yet on Jungle.

No school Jungle lists for speech and drama sits in the North or North-east. ACT 3 has studios at Kovan and at Oasis Terraces in Punggol, and Speech Academy Asia has branches in Sembawang, Upper Thomson, Woodleigh, Serangoon, Hougang and Punggol. None of these branches is on Jungle yet, so book through the city branches above and ask for the one near you.

Creative Drama is process-based. The Introductory Stage (3 and a half to 4) is an hour, drop-off, built on a picture book. Stages 1 to 3 (4 to 7) add mime, movement and clear speech, and Stages 4 to 6 (8 to 12) use scripts, monologues and duologues. From 8 there are Trinity and LAMDA classes, On Stage! by audition, and Next Stage! Theatre Makers from 13. Places roll over each term.

On top of the term fee: registration is $30 at ACT 3 and $50 per family at Centre Stage, which also holds a $200 refundable deposit for each class. Public Speaking Academy takes a $100 deposit against the third month. Exam fees are extra wherever exams are offered.

Trying it first in the December holidays

Several of these schools run week-long holiday workshops in November and December 2026, a cheaper way to test interest than a full term. ACT 3's Christmas drama week, Alice and the Great Christmas Tea Party, is five mornings for $390 at 4 to 7 or $450 at 8 to 12. Its Young Speakers Holiday Newsroom, a public speaking week built on interviews and live reports, is $495 for 8 to 11 and $550 for 12 to 15.

Centre Stage's five-day Creative Arts weeks are $390, at East Coast from 23 November and at Woking Road in December. Sing'theatre's Musical Theatre Camp runs 7 to 11 December, 9am to noon, for ages 5 to 9 at $405. SRT's Stage Camp at KC Arts Centre, $400 a week, has sold out all but its second week for 8 to 12, which is taught in Mandarin.

How we picked these

Every school here is listed on Jungle. We checked each school Jungle lists for drama, speech, public speaking, acting or musical theatre on its own website, timetable or booking system, and kept the 9 that run weekly classes for children aged 3 to 16 and are still trading. Of the 32 Jungle merchants checked, venues, dance and art studios, holiday-only camps and one dead website were left out.

Where a class is musical theatre or mostly singing, the card says so. The quick picks are our judgement: the lowest published price per hour, the public speaking school that publishes the most, and the clearest route to exams and the stage. Fees, trials and timetables were read on 30 October 2026.
