The best free thing in Tampines Mall is not on the mall's website. CapitaLand's concierge page lists the car park rates, the nursing room and the taxi stand, and says nothing about the sheltered playground on the Level 4 roof terrace. Little Day Out's directions to it still say "beside Long John Silver's", and Long John Silver's closed on 2 March 2026. Wingstop is there now.
Tampines Mall is the oldest of the three malls at Tampines MRT, open since 1995, and it is halfway through a $24 million refit due to finish in the third quarter of 2026. Isetan left in November 2025 and McDonald's, a tenant for more than 30 years, closed on 8 March 2026. What did not change is Level 5, which the mall turned into an education floor in 2014.
Six enrichment centres sit up there: an art school, a music school, Julia Gabriel, two tuition chains and a Chinese language centre. Two are on Jungle, ARTARY and Yamaha Music School, and both advertise a free trial. The other four are not yet listed, so we give their unit, hours and what they publish on price.
This guide covers every kids' reason to go, place by place. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so rather than guess. For the parks, pools and the rest of the town, read our guide to things to do with kids in Tampines.
Quick steer
Tampines Mall's one play area is a small, free, sheltered playground on the Level 4 roof terrace, reached through the glass doors beside Wingstop at #04-23 to 25, next to the Kopitiam. The main piece is a green and yellow bulldozer-shaped climbing frame for ages 2 to 5: tracks and hand grips up into the cab, a short ladder on the other side, a spiral pole at the back and a low slide where the blade should be.
Beside it is an open plaza with a few mounds to run up and down, seating, a large ceiling fan and two water coolers. There is no sand, no water play and nothing for a child over six. It is sized for a 20-minute stop, not an afternoon.
Why kids will love it: Driving the bulldozer, then sliding off the front of it, on repeat. Best for ages 2 to 5. Go in the morning before the roof heats up, and bring the water bottle; the coolers are the one thing here a parent will thank the mall for.

The rest of the family floor is shopping. Toys"R"Us at #03-17A opens 10am to 10pm, the LEGO Certified Store is two doors along at #03-20/21, Mothercare is at #03-04/05 and Popular, on Level 3 since 2004, reopened on 6 March 2026 as a new 8,000 square foot store with children's and preschool books. Cotton On Kids is at #02-18A, and Golden Village at #04-17/18 is the cinema.
Level 5 is the education floor, and every centre in the mall is on it. Two are on Jungle and come first. The other four are not yet listed and follow with their units and hours. Two offer a free trial; three more publish no fee at all.

ARTARY's Tampines Mall Junior Campus is at #05-05, one of eight ARTARY campuses in Singapore. Its fine art programme runs in five bands: ARTARY Play for 3 to 3.9 years, ARTARY 1 for 4 to 5.4, ARTARY 2 for 5.5 to 7.9, ARTARY 3 for 8 to 10.4 and ARTARY 4 for 10.5 to 14, in weekly 75 or 90-minute sessions. There are Digital Art levels and DSA portfolio preparation for older children.
The trial class is normally $53.50 and, at the time of writing, free for a limited time. Term fees are not published. The campus does not answer phone enquiries; use the online form and expect a reply within three business days.
Why kids will love it: Painting on a real canvas at an easel from age 3, with a finished piece to carry home every term. Best for ages 4 to 10. Weekend mornings fill first; the Monday 11am to 6.30pm window is the quiet one.

Yamaha Music School at #05-04 is an anchor tenant, and the one centre in the mall that publishes its fees. The group courses for the youngest are the Yamaha Primary Course (Explorer) for age 3 and the Yamaha Primary Course for 4 to 5.5, each $534 for a three-month term of 11 lessons, with $36 off per term for a weekday class and a $60 registration fee.
The Yamaha Junior Course for 5.5 and up runs $498 to $543 a term, and individual piano, drum and bass lessons follow. Every course offers a free trial lesson, booked online. Yamaha Music Square at #04-K1, one floor down, sells the keyboard.
Why kids will love it: A keyboard each, in a class of 5 to 10, singing before they can read a note. Best for ages 3 to 6 for the group courses. Ask for a weekday slot; it is $36 a term cheaper.

Julia Gabriel's Tampines centre is at #05-03, and it is the only speech and drama school in the mall. The programme ladder runs from PlayNest and PlayClub for babies and toddlers with a parent, through Speech and Drama for Nursery and Kindergarten, to Speech Communication Arts and Stage Lights for Primary 1 to 6, with Readers and Writers and a Primary 4 to 6 debating programme alongside. Fees are by enquiry. It is not yet on Jungle.
Why kids will love it: Drama that is actually drama, with a stage, a costume box and a teacher who makes the shy one speak up. Best for ages 2 to 6 for the play programmes and 7 to 12 for Stage Lights.

The Learning Lab at #05-07 is the tuition chain's east centre, three minutes from the MRT, and it starts earlier than most: Nursery 2 and Kindergarten classes in English and maths, then Primary 1 to 6, Secondary and Junior College in English, maths and science. Classes are small and the curriculum is written in-house each week. Fees are on a separate page of its site and were not readable on the day of writing. It is not yet on Jungle.
Why kids will love it: Not the point. Parents will like the 1pm weekday opening and a K1 class that is not a worksheet. Best for Kindergarten 1 to Primary 6.

Stalford publishes no standard fee list. Third-party reviews put primary group tuition at $180 to $280 a month, and a deposit of four lessons per subject is required. It is not yet on Jungle.

Tampines Mall feeds a family better than any mall at the station. Three restaurants have a real kids-eat-free deal, two more publish a children's menu with a price, and the Kopitiam is one floor below the playground. McDonald's at #01-33 closed on 8 March 2026; Casa Vostra took the space.
The Kopitiam at #04-27 to 29 is the food court, and it is the right meal after the playground, which is through the doors beside Wingstop on the same floor. Stalls run from chicken rice and yong tau foo to HJH Maimunah Mini for nasi padang, Riverside Indonesian barbecue and Yuan Kee dumplings. It opens 10am to 9.30pm.
Why kids will love it: Choosing their own stall, and a plate of plain rice and soup for the one who will not eat anything else. Best for any age. Go at 11.30am; the Level 5 classes let out together at 1pm on a Saturday.

PUTIEN at #B1-01 is the Michelin-listed Fujian chain's Tampines branch, and the deal that matters is unwritten: a child small enough for a high chair eats free, and the staff bring a plate for them, usually fried rice, sweet and sour pork and fruit. Little Day Out's August 2026 list names the Tampines Mall outlet. It is a sit-down meal with a service charge, so it suits a toddler and two adults, not a party of six-year-olds.
Why kids will love it: Their own plate of fried rice before the adults' food arrives, and the lor mee to share. Best for ages 1 to 4. Book for Saturday lunch; the queue starts at noon.

Seoul Garden at #04-01 is a halal Korean barbecue buffet with a hob in the table, and the most generous published children's price in the mall. A child under 5 eats free. From 5 to 12 the child rate is $12.45++ at weekday lunch on the regular tier and $17.45++ at dinner and weekends. Adults pay $24.90++ at weekday lunch and $34.90++ otherwise, with premium tiers above that. Prices are from the chain's own menu page in October 2026.
Why kids will love it: Grilling their own chicken with tongs, and the ice cream machine at the end. Best for ages 4 and up who can sit near a hot plate. Weekday lunch is half the price of dinner.

PastaMania at #04-21 to 22, between Wingstop and the cinema, gives a free Kids' Meal, normally $9.90, with every adult main on the last Sunday of each month, for children aged 10 and under who are at the table. The same offer runs on Children's Day, 2 October 2026, dine-in only, and Tampines Mall is on the outlet list. It is halal-certified.
Why kids will love it: A bowl of plain spaghetti with a side and a drink, and a parent who did not pay for it. Best for ages 3 to 10. Check the calendar; the free meal is one Sunday in four.

Nando's own site could not be read on the day of writing; 2026 menu aggregators list the set at $11.50. It is halal, has high chairs and opens at 10am, which makes it the breakfast-adjacent option before a 9am class is over.
