Tampines Plaza is not a shopping mall. It is two office towers at 3 and 5 Tampines Central 1, 100 metres from the bus interchange, that were called Abacus Plaza until a renovation finished in 2021. Nine of the tenants in the two blocks exist for children: two preschools, a childcare centre, a student care centre, four tuition centres and a dance school.
That makes it the quietest kids' address in Tampines town centre. Nobody comes here to browse. Parents arrive at 3pm with a Primary 3 child, ride a lift to Level 6, 7 or 8, and leave two hours later. Two of the centres are on Jungle with a booking link, and both offer a free first lesson.
What the building lacks is everything a mall has. There is no play area, free or paid, no food court, no nursing room on any published page and no shop that sells a toy. Tampines Mall, five minutes on foot, covers the first and the last, and Our Tampines Hub covers the rest.
This guide covers every kids' reason to go, place by place, with the unit, the hours and the price. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so rather than guess. For the parks, pools and playgrounds around the town centre, read our guide to things to do with kids in Tampines.
Quick steer
There is no play area inside Tampines Plaza, free or paid, and no kiddy ride or toy shop either. The courtyard between the two towers is a place to sit, not to play. The nearest free playgrounds are in the two buildings a parent walks past on the way here, and we include them so you know what you are walking to.
Tampines Mall's small free playground is on Level 4, through the entrance beside Long John Silver's, on a sheltered rooftop plaza with a large ceiling fan and a pair of water coolers. The main piece is a bulldozer-shaped climbing frame sized for ages 2 to 5: yellow tracks and grips to climb into the cab, a short ladder on the other side, a black spiral pole at the back and a low yellow slide where the blade should be.
Little Day Out described it on 18 August 2025. It is sheltered, which is the point in Tampines at 3pm, and the plaza around it has room to run.
Why kids will love it: Driving a bulldozer, then sliding off the front of it. Best for ages 2 to 5; a seven-year-old will be bored in ten minutes. Go in the morning before the lunch crowd, and bring a bottle for the water coolers.

Our Tampines Hub has the free play Tampines Plaza does not: the Festive Mall Play Zone in Basement 1, a slide and climbing structure on rubber flooring with no gate and no ticket, and the sheltered Sky Terrace playground on Level 2, with a sunken trampoline, spinners and a wheelchair swing. Both are for the under-eights and both fill on a wet Saturday.
The same building holds Jolly Jungle, a paid indoor playground inside the regional library, and a rooftop water playground that costs 80 cents a child on a weekday. Our full guide is linked below.
Why kids will love it: A trampoline sunk into the floor, then a hawker centre one escalator down. Best for ages 2 to 7. Come on a weekday morning before the basement tuition centres open at 2pm.

The small things inside Tampines Plaza that matter to a parent are not play. Luminous Dental Clinic at #01-01 of Tampines Plaza 2 is the building's dentist. The basement drop-off zone was enlarged in the 2021 renovation and the lifts in both towers are barrier-free, so a stroller is no trouble. There is no supermarket, pharmacy or convenience store in either block on any directory we read.
Nine kids' tenants share the two towers, from Level 2 to Level 8, and three of them are preschools or childcare rather than classes. Two are on Jungle and come first, followed by a music school in Telepark, 250 metres away, that Jungle lists under the same address. The six unlisted centres come after. Two offer a free trial.

StepUp opened its Tampines Central studio at #06-03A in July 2021, and at 1,000 square feet it is the school's largest single studio of four. It teaches three styles: ballet on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus from Pre-School level through the Graded exams, jazz on the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing syllabus from age 5, and hip hop in three levels built around performing.
Tampines classes run on Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings, from Baby Ballet for three-year-olds up to Grade 4 ballet and Hip Hop Level 3. The trial is complimentary, with terms. Fees are not published.
Why kids will love it: Baby Ballet at 10am on a Saturday, then hip hop to a song they know when they turn five. Best for ages 3 to 10. Book the trial online; the Saturday morning slots fill first.

Photo: Lil' but Mighty, Jungle listing
Lil' but Mighty at #06-03, next door to StepUp, is an English-only tuition centre for Primary 1 to Secondary 4, one of nine branches. Classes are two hours once a week with six pupils to a teacher, and it is the only centre in the building that publishes every price.
The 2026 fees run from $103.55 a lesson for Primary 1 and 2 to $125.35 for Secondary 3 and 4, including GST, which is $414.20 to $501.40 a month. A deposit of four weeks' fees and a one-off registration fee are payable on enrolment. The trial lesson is free, against a usual price of $95 to $115, and a child who enrols after it gets one more lesson free.
Why kids will love it: A two-hour class with five other children rather than a tutor across a table, and a neon sign in the lobby that says English should make you happy. Best for Primary 3 to 6 before the PSLE year. Book the trial by level on the site.

Photo: Edvox Music and Dance, Jungle listing
Edvox is not in Tampines Plaza. Jungle lists it at 5 Tampines Central 6, which is Telepark, the CapitaLand office block on the far side of Tampines Mall, about 250 metres and five minutes on foot. We include it because it is the nearest bookable music school and the listing carries a booking link.
The Telepark branch teaches instruments only: piano, violin, cello, guitar, ukulele, flute, drums, viola and theory. Dance is offered at the Orchard branch, not here. The one group class is Funtime DoReMe, a piano and violin programme for ages 3 to 5 with the instrument provided. Fees and hours are not published.
Why kids will love it: A violin their own size at three, before they are old enough to be told to practise. Best for ages 3 to 8. Ask about the group class before committing to one-to-one lessons.

The Edu Experience at #07-02 is a Primary-level tuition centre for Chinese, English, Maths and Science, registered with the Ministry of Education, and it is the second centre in the building with a free trial. It opens at 1pm on weekdays and 9am at weekends, which makes it the one to try for a Saturday morning slot before a dance class downstairs.
Fees are not published and there is no website, only a landline, which tells you the kind of centre it is.
Why kids will love it: Four subjects in one unit, so a Primary 4 pupil can do Chinese and Maths on the same afternoon and still be home by 4pm. Best for Primary 2 to 6. It is not yet on Jungle.

Write Edge at #08-05 is the English and creative writing chain's Tampines branch, on the top floor of Tampines Plaza 1. It teaches English composition and comprehension to Primary and Secondary pupils in small groups, and runs open-house days each term. The centre is closed on Mondays and opens at 2pm on weekdays and 9am at weekends.
Fees for the Tampines branch are on the chain's course fees page rather than the branch page, and were not quoted there on the day of writing.
Why kids will love it: A composition marked with what worked before what did not, by a teacher who only teaches writing. Best for Primary 3 to Secondary 2. It is not yet on Jungle.

EduFirst at #02-01 is the broadest tuition centre in the building: English, Maths, Science and Chinese from K1 upwards, then Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Principles of Accounts, Social Studies, History and Geography to Secondary 5, in small groups. It is the only centre here that takes a kindergarten child for academic tuition.
Hours, fees and trial terms are not on the Tampines page; the chain asks you to call.
Why kids will love it: Nothing about tuition, honestly, but a sibling in Secondary 3 and one in Primary 2 can be in the same lift. Best for Primary 1 to Secondary 5. It is not yet on Jungle.

PlayFACTO School's Tampines Central centre is student care, not a class: a licensed after-school centre for primary pupils that collects from eight schools, including St Hilda's, Poi Ching, Gongshang, Junyuan and Tampines Primary, feeds them an MSG-free lunch, supervises homework and spelling, and runs its own STEAM enrichment block in the afternoon. Half-day and full-day places are offered.
In the school holidays, on marking days and on e-learning days it runs 7am to 7pm. Fees are not published; the centre books tours by WhatsApp.
Why kids will love it: Homework done by 5pm with friends from school, then a science block. Best for Primary 1 to 4. Book a tour on a weekday afternoon to see it full.

MindChamps Chinese PreSchool at #03-01 is the chain's Mandarin-led preschool, with the MindChamps reading, writing and numeracy programmes delivered in English and Chinese, in full-day and half-day programmes from playgroup to Kindergarten 2. The current offer on its page is 15 per cent off school fees for the first 12 months. Fees themselves are not published; the centre books a visit.
Why kids will love it: A Mandarin day that is songs and stories rather than worksheets, two floors below the tuition centres they will graduate to. Best for ages 2 to 6. Tour on a weekday morning.

Little Skool-House at #04-03/04 of Tampines Plaza 2 is the NTUC First Campus preschool brand's full-day centre in the second tower, for children from 18 months to 6 years, open 7am to 7pm on weekdays. It is a workplace-style preschool for parents commuting to the offices around the interchange rather than a drop-in class.
Why kids will love it: A full day with the same friends, and a parent who is five minutes away. Best for ages 2 to 6. Fees are not on the centre page; call for the fee schedule and the subsidy figure.

Learning Kidz Academy takes the whole fifth floor of Tampines Plaza 2, #05-01 to #05-05, with infant care, playgroup, nursery and kindergarten under one licence. It is an ECDA partner operator, which caps its fees. Skoolopedia's undated listing gives $800 a month before subsidy for playgroup to kindergarten; an older listing gave $650 full-day, so take the figure as a guide and confirm.
Why kids will love it: A floor to themselves, with the infants at one end and the K2s at the other. Best for 18 months to 6. Ask for the fee after the partner-operator subsidy, which is the number that matters.

There is no food court in Tampines Plaza and we could not confirm a single cafe or restaurant in either tower from a dated 2026 directory, so we are not going to name one. The nearest food is in the three malls and the hub around the MRT, and the one real family option is the hawker centre.
The hawker centre at #01-31 to #01-73 of Our Tampines Hub is where most Tampines families eat: around 800 seats, run by Kopitiam, with stalls from chicken rice to Thai and pancakes, and a handful trading through the night. The Sky Terrace playground is one escalator up, which is the reason to choose it over the Tampines Mall food court after a class.
Why kids will love it: Choosing their own stall, then the playground upstairs while the adults finish. Best for any age. Go before 12.30pm or after 1.30pm on a weekday.

We found no kids' menu with a published price and no kids-eat-free deal within five minutes of Tampines Plaza that we could confirm from a 2026 source. If one appears, it will be in Tampines Mall or Tampines 1, not here.
Tampines Plaza is at 3 and 5 Tampines Central 1, between Tampines Mall and the bus interchange.
Everything Tampines Plaza lacks is within ten minutes on foot, and the hub covers most of it on its own.
