Things to Do With Kids in Tampines, Singapore (2026)

Updated 20 October 2026 ยท 12 min read

TL;DR – The Quick Version

Clip 'n Climb in Tampines closed in 2022, and older guides still send families there. This one was re-checked place by place on 20 October 2026. Nine of the sixteen places are free, including the new Magical Bridge Playground at Sun Plaza Park, and a child swims at Our Tampines Hub for 80 cents on a weekday. Every entry gives the 2026 price, opening hours from the source and an address for Maps. Browse kids activities in east Singapore on Jungle.

Clip 'n Climb in Tampines closed on 17 July 2022, along with the HomeTeamNS clubhouse that housed it and its Laser Quest arena. The guide that leads Google for Tampines, last updated in 2019, still lists it first.

That is the trouble with Tampines: the town changes faster than the guides that cover it. In June 2026 Sun Plaza Park opened a playground with Singapore's first slide designed for wheelchair users. The rooftop playgrounds at Tampines 1 have been listed as under maintenance on the mall's own site since April 2025. Two enrichment centres in older lists have no Tampines branch, and the two big indoor attractions that replaced Clip 'n Climb open only at weekends.

So this guide was checked again on 20 October 2026 against NParks, ActiveSG, the National Library Board, the People's Association and each operator's own site. Sixteen places. Nine of them are free, and a child swims at Our Tampines Hub for 80 cents on a weekday. Where a place publishes no price, we say so rather than guess.

Most of it is within a ten-minute walk of Tampines MRT (EW2/DT32). The bigger adventures in the fourth section are in Bedok, a 15-minute drive away, and the Bedok guide covers the rest of that town. One stop up the line, the Pasir Ris and Simei guide has the beach and the mangroves.

Our Tampines Hub, where to start

Our Tampines Hub opened in August 2017 as Singapore's first integrated community hub: 5.7 hectares with a 5,000-seat stadium, a regional library, a hawker centre and six pools. It holds more free play than the three malls around the MRT put together, and six of the places in this guide are inside it.

1. Festive Play

Festive Play is the free indoor playground in Basement 1 of the hub. The People's Association describes it as a playground for children aged 7 and below, built to offer inclusive play for children with diverse needs. There is no gate, no booking and no ticket.

It is small, and on a wet Saturday afternoon it is full.

Why kids will love it: A soft playground they can do laps of while a parent stands two metres away with the groceries. Best for ages 1 to 5. Come on a weekday morning, before the after-school crowd from the basement tuition centres arrives.

Ages: 7 and below.
Nearest MRT: Tampines (EW2/DT32), about five minutes' walk. Exits F and G on the Downtown Line have lift access.

2. Sky Terrace playground

The Sky Terrace on Level 2 is the hub's outdoor play deck, one floor above the hawker centre. The People's Association calls it home to an all-inclusive playground, retro swing sets and games from the past, and there is a rock climbing wall beside them.

Lunch is one escalator down, which makes this the easiest free hour in the town.

Why kids will love it: Swings, a climbing wall, and the old-school games their parents played. Best for ages 2 to 8. Bring water and a hat, and come before the midday sun.

3. Jolly Jungle Kids Indoor Playground

Jolly Jungle is the paid indoor playground, inside Tampines Regional Library at #03-02. You enter the library on Level 2 and go up one floor; lift lobbies H and F are the closest. Older guides call it PLAYtopia, which ran the library's playground before Jolly Jungle took over.

Inside are slides, a ball pit, trampolines and a sand pit filled with wooden beads instead of sand, all under full-length windows. It is built for children 12 and under.

Why kids will love it: The bead sand pit and its toy trucks, then the slides into the ball pit. Best for ages 2 to 8; a ten-year-old will be done in 40 minutes. Payment is cashless only, and single tickets are sold to walk-ins, first come first served.

Ages: 12 and under. Under 12 months free with a paying adult.
Nearest MRT: Tampines (EW2/DT32), about five minutes' walk.

4. Tampines Regional Library

Tampines Regional Library

Tampines Regional Library runs from Level 2 to Level 6 of the hub, and the floor that matters to parents is Level 3. The Early Literacy Library there is built for the under-threes, with a collection for 4 to 6 year olds, and Jolly Jungle is on the same floor.

Note the holiday rules. The library is closed on public holidays, and it shuts at 5pm on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and the eve of Lunar New Year.

Why kids will love it: Choosing their own stack of picture books to take home on a free library card, one corridor from the slides. Best for ages 1 to 6. Pair it with Jolly Jungle: an hour of slides, then an hour of quiet, on the same floor.

5. Tampines Swimming Complex

Tampines Swimming Complex

The ActiveSG swimming complex is on the roof of the hub, on Level 6. The hub's own guide counts six pools, including an interactive pool for children, a jacuzzi and competition pools for water polo and diving.

ActiveSG lists Our Tampines Hub among its special-features swimming complexes and charges that rate here: 80 cents for a child on a weekday, $1 at weekends. Two things catch people out. The complex closes every Tuesday unless it is a public holiday, and ActiveSG may shut its outdoor pools in bad weather.

For lessons, Smileswimmers teaches baby and toddler classes and the SwimSafer programme at Our Tampines Hub. Pool entry is paid on top of the lesson fee.

Why kids will love it: The interactive pool, for 80 cents. Best for ages 1 to 8. Go on a weekday morning after 8am; weekend afternoons are busy. Bring a swim nappy for the under-threes.

Ages: Any. Child rates are for under-18s.

Parks and playgrounds

Tampines is one of the few estates where the parks are worth a bus ride from somewhere else. All four below are free, and the first is the newest playground in the east.

6. Sun Plaza Park and the Magical Bridge Playground

Sun Plaza Park is a 9 hectare NParks park along Tampines Avenue 7 and Avenue 9, about 400 metres from Tampines MRT. On 17 June 2026 NParks opened the Magical Bridge Playground inside it: 0.38 hectares built so that children of every ability can play together, with Singapore's first slide designed for wheelchair users.

The playground is laid out in four zones themed on the ways seeds travel: on their own, on the wind, by water and by animals. There are barrier-free routes, wheelchair-accessible equipment, hideaway huts, an amphitheatre and a sensory garden of raised herb planters.

One practical note. Sections of the park's footpath have been closed for maintenance since 24 June 2026, and NParks gives no end date, so expect a detour on some routes. The dog run stays open.

Why kids will love it: A slide that a child in a wheelchair and their sibling can both use, and huts to hide in. Best for ages 2 to 10, and the one playground in this guide built for every child. Smell the herbs on the way out.

7. Tampines Boulevard Park

Tampines Boulevard Park is 10 hectares along Tampines Avenue 12, which splits it into two sections. The west section opened in September 2024, and NParks officially opened the whole park on 22 February 2025.

The west section is the one for children. Its nature playgarden has a dragon head slide, the sand play area has swings and a rock wall inspired by Tampines' old sand quarries, and there is a 60 metre tri-colour cycling track built for small children. The east section has a second, wooden playgarden with swings and balancing logs, and a 1,200 square metre fenced dog run.

Why kids will love it: The dragon head slide, then laps of a cycling track sized for them, with no adults on racing bikes. Bring the balance bike. Best for ages 3 to 8. The trees are still young, so go early or late. The stepping-stone path in the elevated garden is not wheelchair friendly.

8. Tampines Central Park and the watermelon playground

Tampines Central Park, off Tampines Street 82, opened in the 1980s and holds two of HDB's best-known old playgrounds: a watermelon slice with a slide, and mangosteen domes to hide in. HDB architect Lee-Loy Kwee Wah designed them, and HDB says the watermelon was built in 1989, a nod to the fruit farms that stood here before the new town.

The park is a stop on the Tampines Heritage Trail and also holds Ng Eng Teng's sculpture Mother and Child. The playgrounds are small and the slide is short. No public body has published anything on their condition since 2021, though we found no notice of removal.

Why kids will love it: Sliding down a watermelon, then hiding inside a mangosteen. Best for ages 3 to 7, and for a parent who played on one. Ten minutes is enough. Our Tampines Hub is about 400 metres east, so do both.

9. Tampines Green Forest Park playground

Tampines Green Forest Park playground

Photo: Tampines Green Forest Playground, Jungle listing

Tampines Green Forest Park is a neighbourhood park beside the Tampines GreenForest blocks on Tampines Avenue 8, about 1.2 kilometres from Tampines West station.

No public body publishes a description of its playground, so we describe only what Jungle's listing photo shows: two lookout towers on poles joined by net bridges, a rope web to climb up and a long tube slide back down, standing in open grass with no shade over the frame.

Why kids will love it: Getting to the top of the net and shouting down to a parent who cannot follow them. Best for ages 6 to 12; younger children need a hand on the rope web. Come before 10am or after 5pm, when the frame is cooler.

Opening hours: Open access. No published hours.

Ages: Not published. Jungle's listing says 2 to 10; the tall nets suit 6 and up.
Nearest MRT: Tampines West (DT31), about 1.2 kilometres.

The malls around Tampines MRT

A warning first. Tampines 1's rooftop wet and dry playgrounds, for ages 5 to 12, still appear in older Tampines lists. The mall's own site says both are under maintenance and will reopen "by the end of April", a notice it has carried since April 2025 without a year. Treat them as closed until the mall says otherwise.

10. Tampines Mall rooftop playground

Tampines Mall's one play area is a small playground on the Level 4 roof terrace, built around a climbing frame shaped like a bulldozer, for children of about 2 to 5. There is no water play and nothing for a child over six.

One caveat. CapitaLand's own pages for the mall do not mention the playground, so we could not confirm it at source on 20 October 2026. Ask at the mall before you promise it to a three-year-old.

Why kids will love it: Driving the bulldozer, then sliding off the front of it, on repeat. Best for ages 2 to 5. It is a 20-minute stop, not an afternoon. Go in the morning, before the roof heats up.

11. My Gym at Tampines Junction

My Gym at Tampines Junction

Photo: My Gym, Jungle listing

My Gym's Tampines branch is not at Our Tampines Hub. It is on Level 5 of Income@Tampines Junction on Tampines Avenue 5, a five-minute walk from Exit C of Tampines MRT.

It is a children's gym for structured classes, not a playground you drop into. Classes are banded tightly by age, from Young Waddlers at 7 to 11 months, through Gymsters from 19 months and Terrific Tots at 3 to 4, to Mighty Mites and Whiz Kids at 5 to 8. Term fees are not published.

Why kids will love it: Rings to swing on, a slide and a room full of padded shapes to climb, with a teacher leading the circuit. Best for ages 1 to 4, when a whole room of soft equipment is still thrilling. Book the $75 trial before you commit to a term.

Bigger adventures, a short drive away in Bedok

HomeTeamNS Tampines, home of Clip 'n Climb and Laser Quest, closed on 17 July 2022, and neither attraction reopened. The nearest replacements are at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir. Both now open only at weekends and on public holidays.

12. Action Motion at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir

Action Motion is an indoor activity arena built around six experiences: Rapid Action 1 and 2, Motion Mesh, Valo Jump, Valo Climb and Ascend Lab. Sessions run in fixed slots of about two and a quarter hours.

Most of it has no height rule. Rapid Action Level 2 needs 125cm, and every activity needs a minimum weight of 20kg. Accompanying adults need their own ticket.

Why kids will love it: A climbing wall and a trampoline that both keep score on a screen. Best for ages 7 to 12. Book a slot ahead; there are no refunds, and a change of date costs $21.80. Grip socks are compulsory at $4 a pair, so pack your own if you have them.

Aqua Adventure, one door along, is an indoor water park: the Black Hole Slide, the Double Trouble Slide, the Laze Pool, an aqua course, Clockwork Towers and a scramble net. Tickets allow re-entry on the same day.

The entry rule is the thing to check before you travel. Every rider must be at least 125cm tall and weigh at least 30kg, which rules out most children under about seven. There is no age rule, and strollers are not allowed.

Why kids will love it: The Black Hole Slide, twice in a row. Best for confident swimmers aged 8 and up. Measure them at home first: a child at 124cm will be turned away at the gate, and there are no refunds.

14. Forest Adventure at Bedok Reservoir Park

Forest Adventure runs treetop obstacle courses in Bedok Reservoir Park. The Kids Course, for ages 5 to 9, has 22 crossings including two zip lines and takes about an hour, with a minimum height of 1.1m. The Junior Course needs 1.35m, and the Grand Course needs 1.45m and takes about two and a half hours.

The Grand Course's three zip lines run out over the water. The separate Big Zip is closed until further notice; every other zip line is running.

Why kids will love it: Clipping themselves on like a real climber and riding a zip line over the reservoir. Best for ages 6 to 12. An adult must go round with children under 7 on the Kids Course and pays the same fee. Add the $3 wet weather cover, because there are no refunds.

15. East Coast Park

East Coast Park

East Coast Park is the beach Tampines families actually use, and the Bedok guide covers its playgrounds and food centres in detail. From Tampines it is a car trip, or a long ride for a child: the Tampines and Bedok park connectors run through Bedok Reservoir Park to East Coast Park Area G. A section of the Bedok connector near Upper East Coast Road is closed for Thomson-East Coast Line works until the fourth quarter of 2026.

NParks lists several closures this autumn. Sections of the nature playgarden at Coastal PlayGrove are shut for maintenance until 31 October 2026, and the Area D footpath until 30 November.

Why kids will love it: Sand, sea and a bicycle with stabilisers on a path with no cars. Best for every age. Go before 10am or after 4pm, and read the box jellyfish advisory on the NParks page before anyone swims.

The lunch stop

16. Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub

The hawker centre on Level 1 of Our Tampines Hub is where most families eat, and the Sky Terrace playground is one escalator up. Kopitiam, part of the FairPrice Group, runs it, and NEA counts 42 cooked food stalls.

Stall hours are 7am to 10pm. The whole centre closes for cleaning on 3 and 4 November 2026, so plan another lunch on those two days.

Why kids will love it: The child who will only eat noodles and the child who will only eat rice get fed at the same table, and nobody has to compromise. Best for any age. Avoid the weekday lunch hour, then go up to the Sky Terrace.

Tampines has no zoo and no theme park, and it does not need one: a new playground built for every child, two free playgrounds under one roof and a 50-cent pool, most of it within a ten-minute walk of Tampines MRT.
