Dance Classes for Kids in Tampines: The 4 Schools Jungle Lists, Ranked (2026)

Jungle lists six dance schools in Tampines. Two of them no longer teach dance here. Le Grand School of Dance has left Telepark for 19 East Coast Road in Katong, and Edvox's Telepark branch teaches music only: its own dance page offers one dance location, Orchard. So this guide covers the four schools that do run dance classes for kids in Tampines, each checked against its own website on 21 September 2026.

That is the honest scope. These are the dance schools Jungle lists in Tampines, not a survey of every studio in the town. Every entry carries a Jungle booking link, and all four teach children.

Four is still a real choice. Three teach ballet on a Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Two teach K-pop. Two sit inside one building, Our Tampines Hub, and the furthest is about a kilometre from Tampines MRT. Only one publishes a monthly fee, and it is $110 for four lessons.

The 4 dance schools for kids in Tampines, ranked

1. StepUp Learning and Dance, Tampines Central

StepUp opened its Tampines Central studio in Tampines Plaza 1 in July 2021, and at 1,000 square feet it is the school's largest single studio. It teaches three styles. Ballet follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus from the Pre-School level up through the Graded exams. Jazz follows the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) syllabus from age 5. Hip hop runs in three levels and is built around performing. The school started in 2011 at SAFRA Yishun and now has four locations.

The timetable is the most complete of the four schools here. Its online trial form lists 2026 Tampines classes on Friday evenings and on Saturday and Sunday mornings, from Baby Ballet for children born in 2023 up to Grade 4 ballet, Hip Hop Level 3 and a contemporary class for older students. Fees are not published.

Why kids will love it: Three-year-olds start in Baby Ballet at 10am on a Saturday, then move up to Pre-Ballet. Older children can take hip hop instead, and the school's own site lists stage dates this term, including a Children's Day celebration at One Punggol on 11 October and an international arts festival at the University Cultural Centre, NUS, on 20 November. It is also the easiest of the four to reach, about 250 metres from Tampines MRT.

2. DF Academy (The Dance Family), Tampines Central Community Complex

DF Academy trades as The Dance Family and teaches hip hop, K-pop and girls' style to children, teens and adults. There is no ballet. Its classes are performing classes: over several weeks a class learns one long routine, with formations, and then performs it at the school's public showcases and theatre concerts. Each hour opens with a 15-minute warm-up. It ends with the children dancing in small groups while the teacher films them. Levels run Intro for beginners, Beginner for one to two years' experience, and Crew beyond that.

This is the only school of the four that publishes its prices, and the only one with a Tampines timetable online. Two practical notes. Book at least three days ahead, because there are no walk-ins. And one Google review from a parent, a year old, says lessons were sometimes cancelled with a few hours' notice through the class Telegram group.

Why kids will love it: A K-pop routine they can show off at home, learned in a class of children their own age: the kids' groups are split into 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. The Saturday line-up runs from 11.30am into the evening, so there is a slot that fits around a morning swimming lesson. Children who stick with it can end up on a theatre stage in a sequinned costume.

3. Dancepointe Academy, Tampines Central CC at Our Tampines Hub

Dancepointe is the largest chain on this list. It opened its first studio at Taman Jurong Community Centre in 2005 and now runs 18 studios across Singapore. Ballet follows the RAD and CSTD syllabi. Jazz, hip hop and contemporary lead to CSTD, RSL and Rambert grades. In Tampines it teaches ballet, hip hop and K-pop at The Tampines Central CC inside Our Tampines Hub.

Read the catch before you ring. At Tampines, Dancepointe runs as a course operator in the community club rather than from its own studio. Its branch page tells parents to enrol through its Pasir Ris Mall school, on 6584 6368. It publishes no Tampines timetable and no Tampines fees. There is no Google listing for the Tampines classes either, so it has no reviews of its own to rank on.

Why kids will love it: Dancepointe's youngest class starts at 3 and is a movement class with ballet steps folded in, not a barre class, which suits a toddler who cannot stand still for long. From 5, children move on to a year-long foundation ballet course that ends in a CSTD assessment and a class performance day. Children who would rather not wear pink can take hip hop or K-pop in the same building. Ask the Pasir Ris school which levels run at Tampines this term.

4. The Ballet School Singapore, Our Tampines Hub

The Ballet School is a classical ballet school that prepares children for Royal Academy of Dance exams. On its own figures, more than three quarters of its students score Distinction in their RAD exams every year. The school says it has taught thousands of students over 15 years, and its founder and principal is Audrey Ng. Past the regular classes there is an Elite Programme, with extra performance and competition work, and an overseas immersion trip that has taken students to China, Korea, Taiwan and Australia.

The school lost its HarbourFront Centre branch when that mall closed on 27 July 2026. The Tampines branch is not affected. It is still on the school's own contact page at #B1-51 Our Tampines Hub, and Google shows it open with parent reviews posted in September 2026. The school publishes no fees and no timetable, and at 4.3 its Google rating is the lowest of the four.

Why kids will love it: This is the school for a child who already loves ballet and wants more of it. One parent's September 2026 review traces the route: regular RAD classes from April 2024, the Elite Programme from October 2025, then a place in the competition class. The studio is in the basement of Our Tampines Hub, and Tampines Regional Library is on Level 4 of the same building if you need somewhere to wait.

What dance classes cost in Tampines

Only one of the four publishes a regular fee, so this table is short. Every figure is from the school's own website on 21 September 2026.

DF Academy's $110 works out at $27.50 an hour. For the other three, ask for the term fee and how many lessons it covers before you compare, because schools count a term in different numbers of lessons. Ask too whether exam entry, uniform and the end-of-year concert are charged on top.

How to choose

1. Decide whether you want exams. RAD grades suit a child who likes structure and a certificate at each level. StepUp, Dancepointe and The Ballet School all teach RAD ballet. DF Academy publishes no exam track and puts its effort into performances instead.

2. Match the style to the child, not the parent. A five-year-old who dances to every song on the car radio may get more from a K-pop class than from ballet. Two schools here teach K-pop: DF Academy and Dancepointe.

3. Check the slot before the syllabus. StepUp's Tampines classes run on Friday evenings and weekend mornings. DF Academy's run on Saturday, Sunday and one Wednesday evening. The other two publish no timetable, so ring before you plan around them.

4. Use the trial. StepUp offers one free, Dancepointe charges $20 and DF Academy $35. Watch whether the teacher corrects your child by name, and whether your child wants to go back.

5. Count the walk. StepUp is about 250 metres from Tampines MRT and Our Tampines Hub about 400 metres. DF Academy's building is about 950 metres away, which is a long walk for a five-year-old after an evening class.
