Where Kids Can Move & Groove: Best Dance Classes for Kids in Singapore

We checked 94 Jungle listings that mention dance on their own websites on 4 November 2026, and 36 schools run dance classes a child aged 2 to 12 can join. Classes start at 18 months, often with a parent in the room, and the first drop-off classes start at 3. Ballet and creative movement start youngest; most hip hop and K-pop starts at 4 or 5. Thirteen schools publish fees, mostly $22 to $40 a class, and three give a free trial. Browse dance classes for kids on Jungle.
Most dance classes for kids in Singapore say they start at 3. What a 3-year-old gets is far less uniform. At Tanglin Arts Studio it is a 30-minute Twinkle Stars class; at Amy's School of Dance, 35 minutes of preschool ballet; at Danz People, Creative Hip Hop. The bigger split comes at 6. Amy's and Charlotte Marn School of Dance make exams compulsory from about then, while Danspirations calls them "totally optional".
This guide covers the 36 dance schools on Jungle that run a class a child aged 2 to 12 can join, checked on their own websites, timetables, fee sheets and booking pages on 4 November 2026. Each card gives the youngest class, the styles, the exam board where the school names one, the fee and the trial. Thirteen of the 36 publish their fees.
Start with what a class looks like at each age and which style suits which child, then singing and dancing classes, exams and fees. Under 3, a parent dances too. Dance At The Difference's Mini Movers and Danspirations' Tiny Movers, both for 1.5 to 3, have a parent or carer in the class. All That Jazz's Family Fun (2 to 3), Le Grand's Mummy & Me (2 to 3) and Centre Stage's Ballet Tots (2.5 to 3.5) work the same way. Crestar's Creative Movement starts at 18 months.
At 3, classes start to go drop-off. All That Jazz's Twinkle Tots (3 to 4) is its first drop-off class, Dance At The Difference's Tiny Tots (3 to 5) is drop-off, and Centre Stage's Beginners Ballet (3.5 to 5) is too. Classes at this age run 30 to 60 minutes, and many mix ballet with jazz, tap or tumbling: Charlotte Marn's Dance Tots, Elevate's Foundation in Dance and All That Jazz's Little Movers all combine styles.
From 5, the style choice gets real. RAD Pre-Primary starts at 4 to 5 at most ballet schools. Hip hop and K-pop courses from 5 run at Dancepointe's 5th Avenue and Dance Factory faculties, DF Academy, L5 by O School and Legacy Dance Co. Lessons stretch to an hour; O School's are 90 minutes.
From 7 to 12, exams and teams take over. RAD, ISTD and CSTD grades begin, competition teams form (All That Jazz's by audition from 5, Swan Ballet's Elite groups), and Ballet Quarter, M.A Ballet, Singapore Ballet Academy and Yan Ballet Academy add a second weekly class for exam students.
Which dance style suits your child?
- Ballet, for children who like stories, costumes and clear steps. It starts youngest: Yan Ballet Academy's Creative Dance takes 2-year-olds and City Ballet Academy's youngest class is for children born in 2023. Nineteen schools here teach the RAD syllabus. Cheng Ballet Academy (Vaganova-based) and Charlotte Marn (American Ballet Theatre curriculum) are the exceptions.
- Creative movement, for 18 months to 6, when a child is not yet ready for set steps. Crestar's Creative Movement & Dance (18 months to 4), DanceHomeStudios' Creative Dance (3 to 6, with games, stories and props) and EV Dance's Mini Hoppers (4 to 6) come before formal technique.
- Jazz and tap, for energetic children who like faster music. Stellar's Pre School Jazz starts at 2.5, Ritz's jazz at 3 and Amy's Preschool Jazz at 3.5. The Dance Place's Little Stompers (4 to 5) is pre-tap without tap shoes. Jazz exams follow CSTD at Charlotte Marn, Ritz, StepUp and Stellar, and ATOD at Amy's and Tanglin.
- Hip hop and street dance, for children who love pop music and moving freely. Danz People's Creative Hip Hop and MADDspace's preschool combo take 3-year-olds; most schools start at 4 or 5. - K-pop, for children who already know the songs and like learning a set routine with a group. MADDspace mixes it with hip hop from 3. Crestar, Dance At The Difference, Dancepointe's Dance Factory and DanceHomeStudios start at 5; Amy's Jr K-Pop is for 6 to 7, O School's K-pop for 6 to 11 and Danz People's for 7 to 12.
- Contemporary and lyrical, for older children who like expressive, slower movement. Most schools start them later: The Dance Place's lyrical at 5 and contemporary at 10, Centre Stage's contemporary at 8, Tanglin's at 10. Danspirations runs jazz, modern and contemporary from 3.
- Chinese dance, for children who like folk dance and martial-arts moves. Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre runs a parent-child class from 3.5, First-Step from 4.5, Kungfu Dance for 6 to 12 and a graded class from 6.
- Indian classical dance. No Jungle-listed school publishes a starting age for Bharatanatyam. Sarva Fine Arts, on Serangoon Road, teaches Bharatanatyam and Kathak in group courses of S$450 for 12 classes ($38 a class), with a S$37.50 trial, and asks your child's age when you book. Medasvi School of Dance teaches Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam to children but publishes no ages or fees.
- Latin and ballroom, for children who like partner work and competitions. Galaxy Dance Academy takes children from 4 to 17 with a free kids' trial, JJ Dance Academy from 4 and Justino & Ching from 5. Dancer's Dream Studio in Dempsey starts Latin at 2.5. Aure and Stellar, below, teach it too.
Singing and dancing classes
Singing and dancing classes, often called sing and dance or musical theatre, mix vocal work with simple choreography. Three Jungle schools run one a 4-year-old can join, and two more teach singing alongside dance.
Emerge Arts and Media Academy at Clarke Quay Central runs Sing & Dance for children from 4, with a $28 trial. MADDspace runs a Preschool Sing & Dance class for 3 to 5, with singing on the London College of Music syllabus.
Centre Stage runs Musical Theatre Minis (3.5 to 5) at its Portsdown centre on Woking Road and Musical Theatre Juniors (5 to 7) there and at its East Coast centre, then Popstars (5 to 12) and singing from 8.
DanceHomeStudios in Sengkang teaches singing as separate classes, and Tanglin Arts Studio's musical theatre programme mixes jazz, tap, singing and acting. For acting as well, see our guide to performing arts programmes for children.
Is your child ready for a dance class?
- They can follow a teacher for 30 to 45 minutes without you. If not yet, start with a class where you join in: Dance At The Difference's Mini Movers, Danspirations' Tiny Movers, All That Jazz's Family Fun, Le Grand's Mummy & Me or Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre's Parent-Child Dance.
- They move to music at home and ask to do it again. If they love pop songs, try hip hop or K-pop from 4 or 5; if they love stories and dressing up, ballet or creative movement.
- You can commit to a full term. Amy's charges the whole term regardless of attendance, M.A Ballet will not reduce an invoice for missed classes and Danz People's fees are non-refundable. If not, choose class packages at Aure Studios or EV Dance's 8-class blocks.
A trial will tell you more than any checklist. Cheng Ballet Academy, Le Grand and The Dance Place give the first class free; Crestar's trial is $10 until 31 December 2026 if you commit to three terms, and 17 other schools publish trial prices of $10 to $50.
Dance exams: RAD, ISTD, CSTD and the rest
RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) is the most common ballet syllabus here, at 19 of the 36 schools. Its first graded exam is Primary in Dance; Pre-Primary is a class award. Singapore Ballet Academy examines from Primary, Dancepointe from Pre-Primary at 6 to 7, and The Ballet School from Pre-primary Senior. Yan says the graded syllabus is for 5 and up.
ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) is used by two schools. All That Jazz teaches its Imperial Ballet syllabus, and Elevate Dance Academie, an approved RAD and ISTD exam centre, teaches the ISTD Modern Theatre syllabus.
CSTD (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing, from Australia) is used by eight. Dancepointe ends its preschool ballet years with a CSTD "Come Dance With Me" assessment in front of parents. City Ballet and Crestar enter ballet students for both RAD and CSTD, and Charlotte Marn, Ritz, StepUp and Stellar use CSTD for jazz. MADDspace's dance classes follow it too.
Other boards cover the rest. ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dancing) at Amy's, Tanglin, Centre Stage for jazz and Dancepointe for jazz. Charlotte Marn uses American Ballet Theatre for ballet, Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre the Chinese Folk Dance Graded Examination from the Beijing Dance Academy, and All That Jazz adds ADAPT, Rambert Grades, Trinity, ADTA and RSL.
Exams are compulsory at some schools. Amy's makes the ATOD exam compulsory from Pre School 3, and Charlotte Marn makes exams and exam coaching mandatory from 6. Danspirations says exams are optional, and All That Jazz calls them "optional or recommended". Ballet Quarter, Singapore Ballet Academy, M.A Ballet and Yan add a second weekly class for exam students.
Exam fees come on top of class fees. RAD's own 2026 Singapore fee list puts the Pre-Primary class award at S$69 and the Grade 1 exam at S$117 at an Approved Examination Centre; schools add their own admin fees. Our guide to what ballet classes cost in Singapore has the full exam costs.
What dance classes cost in 2026
Thirteen of the 36 schools publish fees. A class costs $18 to $59; most fall between $22 and $40. Preschool ballet at 3 costs $30 a class at Yan Ballet Academy, $32 at Amy's, $33 at City Ballet and $40 at M.A Ballet. Hip hop costs $22.50 for EV Dance's 45-minute Mini Hoppers on an 8-class block, $28 for an hour at DF Academy and $35 for O School's 90-minute class before GST.
Check what the term fee leaves out. Registration costs $45 at The Dance Place, $50 at Centre Stage, $60 at Yan and $100 at M.A Ballet; Yan and Centre Stage also take a $200 refundable deposit. M.A Ballet's December recital costs $150 a student, plus $50 for each of three rehearsals and $300 or more for the costume. Most terms run 10 to 12 weeks; Tanglin's run 21 and 17 weeks to a Northern Hemisphere calendar.
Twenty-three schools publish no fees, including the biggest chains, Dancepointe, The Ballet School and Crestar. All That Jazz's booking system shows figures from $52 labelled "Monthly (Recreational)" without saying how many lessons they cover.

The Dance Place is the only school here with a free trial and more than two styles for children: nine, sorted by age from 2 to 12, from toddler movement and RAD ballet to hip hop, K-pop, tap and contemporary. The first class is free and doubles as a placement check, so a child who dislikes ballet can try hip hop in the same building. The catch: term fees are not published, and there is a $45 registration fee.

O School's Junior Programme costs $280 for eight 90-minute hip hop lessons before GST, about $23 an hour ($25 with GST). That is the lowest published hourly rate for a term course of the schools that give both fees and lesson lengths; DF Academy and EV Dance's Foundation classes work out at about $28 an hour. The catches: it starts at 5, teaches only hip hop and K-pop, and does not state the trial price.

All That Jazz Dance Academy
All That Jazz names an exam board for every style it teaches: ISTD ballet, ADAPT jazz and tap, Rambert contemporary, Trinity musical theatre, ADTA acro and RSL street dance. Its competition team takes dancers from 5 by audition, every student performs in the annual recital at Mediacorp Theatre, and classes start at 2. The catches: fees are listed without a lesson count, and the trial price is not published.
Price: The booking system lists $52 to $92 labelled "Monthly (Recreational)" without saying how many lessons that covers. Contact them to confirm.
