Dance Classes in Jurong for Kids: 5 Schools Ranked, With Trial Prices (2026)

Two of the dance schools on this list share a floor. The Ballet School Singapore is at #04-10 in Westgate and DF Academy is at #04-13, so a parent can compare Royal Academy of Dance ballet and K-pop without leaving the fourth storey. The more surprising part is the ranking. DF Academy, which teaches no ballet, has 359 Google reviews averaging 4.9. The ballet school three units away has 54 averaging 4.1.

This is a guide to dance classes in Jurong for children, covering Jurong East and Jurong West. It lists the dance schools Jungle carries in the area, not every studio in the west. Jungle lists six. We checked each one against its own website in September 2026, and five are teaching at the address given below.

Three of the five sit within about 300 metres of Jurong East MRT. One is a short walk from Boon Lay. One is inside The Chevrons on Boon Lay Way. Between them they cover dance from 18 months, K-pop from four, and hip-hop crews for older children who want to compete.

1. DF Academy

DF Academy calls itself The Dance Family. It is a hip-hop and K-pop performing school with more than 1,000 students aged 5 to 55, across more than 100 weekly classes at its studios. There is no exam syllabus here. Children learn one long routine over several weeks, with formations and polishing, then perform it at the school's quarterly public showcases and concerts.

The Westgate timetable, uploaded in September 2026, splits kids' classes into three age bands: 5 to 8, 7 to 11 and 9 to 12. Children with no dance background start at Intro level. Those with one to two years of dancing move up to Beginner, which at Westgate runs for the 9 to 12 band. Older students with potential are picked for the school's performing crews, which compete locally and overseas. The school also helps students prepare for Direct School Admission auditions. One catch: every class must be booked three days ahead, and there are no walk-ins.

Why kids will love it: Each class starts with a warm-up, builds a routine to a real K-pop or hip-hop track, and ends with the children dancing in small groups while the teacher films them. A seven-year-old sees the routine come together week by week, and dances it on camera at the end of every lesson. Book a Saturday morning Intro class if your child has never danced before.

2. Crestar School of Dance

Crestar began in 1977 as the dance department of Yamaha Music School Singapore. It describes itself as one of the largest private dance schools in the country. Its ballet students sit exams from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). It also lists Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Beijing Dance Academy exams among those its students can take.

It starts younger than anyone else on this list. Creative Movement and Dance takes children from 18 months, in three levels up to age four, and combines the RAD syllabus with ECDA's Nurturing Early Learners framework. First-time ballet students aged three to five join Fairytale Ballet, a story-based foundation class. Beyond ballet, Crestar teaches hip-hop, K-pop, contemporary, modern jazz and rhythmic gymnastics. Ask which of these run at Jurong East. Two things to know before a trial: the official uniform of leotard, tutu and ballet shoes is bought at registration, and Crestar does not recommend that parents sit in. Parents watch a showcase at the end of each term instead.

Why kids will love it: In Fairytale Ballet a three-year-old does not drill positions. She plays a character, and the pliés and pointed feet are part of the story. The end-of-term showcase then gives her an audience of parents.

3. Dancepointe Academy

Dancepointe was founded in 2005 and now runs 18 outlets with more than 5,000 students. Its foundation is classical ballet to the RAD and CSTD syllabi, from age three through to professional levels. Jazz follows the CSTD and ATOD syllabi, hip-hop follows RSL, and contemporary follows the Rambert grades. The Jurong classes run inside Kidz Education City (KEC) on level 1 of SAFRA Jurong, which offers ballet, hip-hop, K-pop and jazz.

Three-year-olds and four-year-olds start in Creative Pre-School Ballet, a movement class with ballet technique worked in. From five, the Pre-Primary Foundation course runs for a year and ends with a CSTD Come Dance With Me assessment and a class performance day. Classes run from 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on level.

Older listings put Dancepointe at Jurong West Sports Centre. That studio is no longer on the school's own branch list, and the school says it has temporarily moved out of its Jurong East studio. SAFRA Jurong is the Dancepointe option in Jurong for now.

Why kids will love it: A five-year-old finishes her first year with a CSTD assessment and a performance day, which gives the whole year a finish line. The younger class is more play than drill: moving to music, with the first ballet steps slipped in along the way.

4. MADDspace

MADDspace is a school of music, art, drama and dance with two studios: GR.ID mall near Dhoby Ghaut, and The Chevrons in Jurong East. Its dance classes follow the CSTD (Australia) syllabus, and it says it was the first school in Singapore to adopt a certified K-pop programme from Korea. Children can audition for its hip-hop crews from age eight, though the crews train at the Dhoby Ghaut studio, and it runs a Direct School Admission track for modern dance.

The Chevrons studio is small. Studio A measures 8 metres by 5 metres, about 40 square metres, with a standing capacity of 15, so classes here stay small by necessity. On the Term 3 and 4 schedule, updated 28 July 2026, every group class at The Chevrons runs on a weekend. The parent-accompanied preschool class for ages 3.5 to 4.5 runs only at the Dhoby Ghaut studio, so the youngest class in Jurong is for ages four to six.

Why kids will love it: The K-pop classes teach choreography from songs children already know, and the Sunday Sing and Dance class for four to six-year-olds lets them sing and dance in the same hour. It suits a child who would rather sing and perform than drill technique.

5. The Ballet School Singapore

Every programme The Ballet School publishes is classical ballet, taught to the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Children start in Tots Ballet at two and a half, move to Pre-Primary Junior from four to six, then join the RAD graded classes from six. RAD exams begin at Pre-Primary Senior level, and the vocational grades run above the graded ones for students heading for a dance career. An Elite Programme takes students by audition once a year.

Every student is offered a performance at a theatre once a year, and the school runs overseas dance immersion trips, which have gone to Taiwan, Korea, China and Australia. It is one of eight open branches, with a ninth due at Clarke Quay in December 2026.

It ranks fifth because 4.1 from 54 reviews is the lowest rating here. It also publishes the least: no prices, no trial price and no timetable. Call the branch before you go.

Why kids will love it: Tots Ballet starts with creative movement, so a two-and-a-half-year-old moves to music first and meets ballet steps gradually. Older children work at the barre and in the centre towards RAD exams, and each is offered a theatre performance once a year.

What dance classes cost in Jurong

Only one of the five schools publishes a course fee. Three more publish a trial price and ask you to call for the term fee. The Ballet School publishes neither.

DF Academy's fee works out at $27.50 an hour. That is the only hourly figure we can give from a published price. For the others, ask three questions on the phone: how many lessons in a term, how long each lesson is, and whether exam fees and the uniform are extra.

How to choose

1. Exam track or performance track. Crestar, Dancepointe and The Ballet School teach ballet to the RAD or CSTD syllabus, which gives a graded exam and a clear next level each year. MADDspace follows CSTD for its dance classes. DF Academy has no exam at all: children learn routines and perform them.

2. Your child's age today. Under three, only Crestar (from 18 months) and The Ballet School (from two and a half) will take them. At three, add Dancepointe and Crestar's Fairytale Ballet. At four, add MADDspace. DF Academy starts at five.

3. Weekday or weekend. Every group class at MADDspace's Chevrons studio runs on a weekend. DF Academy has kids' classes on every weekday evening, starting between 5pm and 7pm. The other three give times on enquiry, so ask before you book a trial.

4. The cost beyond the fee. Ballet needs a uniform, and Crestar sells its official leotard, tutu and shoes at registration. Graded exams usually carry an entry fee on top of the term fee. Ask for both numbers up front.

5. Whether you can watch. Crestar does not recommend that parents sit in, and shows the class at an end-of-term showcase. DF Academy films groups at the end of each lesson. Ask each school how it will show you your child's progress.
