What Ballet Classes Cost in Singapore (2026): Fees, Exams and Extras

20 October 2026 · 12 min read

TL;DR – The Quick Version

A weekly ballet class for a child aged 3 to 7 costs $30 to $58.50 at the Singapore studios that publish fees, and $11.25 to $23.75 a session on a community centre course. A year of weekly classes at a studio comes to $1,420 to $2,340 before exams and concerts, and one school's December recital adds at least $600. RAD exam fees for 2026 run from $69 to $126, plus the school's own admin fee. We checked the 25 schools on Jungle that teach ballet to children on 20 October 2026: four publish a full term fee. Browse ballet classes on Jungle.

A Pre-Primary ballet class costs $30.91 at Yan Ballet Academy in Katong and $58.50 at City Ballet Academy at Dhoby Ghaut. City Ballet's class runs 90 minutes and Yan's 45, so the dearer class is the cheaper one by the minute.

The class fee is also the smaller surprise. At M.A Ballet, a year of weekly classes for a 4-year-old costs $2,070 with registration and a leotard. If your child dances in the December recital, add at least $600. If they sit their first RAD award, add at least $513 more. Most schools do not print these extras at all.

How we checked. On 20 October 2026 we read the fee pages, term PDFs, terms and conditions and booking systems of the 25 schools on Jungle that teach ballet to children and could be checked online. Four publish a full term fee with a lesson count, two publish part of one, and 19 publish only a trial price, joining fees or nothing. Exam fees come from the Royal Academy of Dance's 2026 Singapore fee list.

If you are choosing a class rather than a budget, our guides to ballet for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and ballet for 5 and 6 year olds compare every school by age.

Ballet Class Prices at a Glance

Fees as published on 20 October 2026. Where a school sells terms, the per-class figure is the term fee divided by the lessons it states.

Community centre courses are booked through onePA, not Jungle, so we give them as a benchmark only. The children's courses we opened on 20 October cost $90 to $190 for eight sessions of 30 to 45 minutes, with maximum class sizes of 15 to 24, and at least one asks you to buy the outfit and shoes yourself.

Three things stand out. Studio fees cluster tightly, between $30 and $40 a class for most children under 7. Class length explains most of the gaps above that. And the one-off costs, registration, uniform, exams and concerts, are where two schools with the same class fee drift apart.

A Year of Ballet, Priced

A per-class price hides the shape of the year, so here is one yardstick: a 4 or 5-year-old in a Pre-Primary class once a week, for a full year, as each school sells it. Joining fees are included; refundable deposits are not.

School and classA yearHow it is built
Yan, six studios$1,4204 terms of 11 at $340, $60 to join
Yan, Shaw Centre$1,6004 terms of 11 at $385, $60 to join
Amy's, Preschool 2$1,6204 terms of 11 at $405
M.A Ballet, Pre-Primary$2,0704 terms of 12 at $480, $100 to join, $50 leotard
City Ballet, Pre-Primary$2,34040 classes at $58.50, 90 minutes each

The spread is about 1.6 to 1. City Ballet does not say how many terms it runs a year, so its row is 40 classes, roughly a school year with the holidays off. Forty sessions at the community centre rates above would cost $450 to $950.

One child's first year, in full

M.A Ballet is the only school we checked that publishes every part of the bill, so it makes the most complete example. Yan publishes all of it except the leotard and the concert, and is the lowest-priced studio we found. Both rows assume a child joining RAD Pre-Primary once a week.

Yan also holds a $200 deposit per child, refunded a month after you give notice. Pink tights and ballet shoes are extra at both. The exam rows assume your child sits the RAD Pre-Primary class award the April after their first year. M.A Ballet asks for two classes a week for one term before it, and Yan from Term 4 until the exam, which makes two terms.

Schools that publish a trial price or joining fees

  • Ballet Quarter at PLQ charges $25 to $40 for a trial and a $50 registration fee, waived if you enrol on the trial day and pay a term upfront. The deposit equals the fee for the child's class, which is charged by the 11-lesson term. Its children's fees, exam admin fee and performance fee sit in a fee schedule it does not publish.
  • Charlotte Marn School of Dance charges $10 for a 60-minute Dance Tots trial and $15 for the 90-minute class. ABT exams and exam coaching are compulsory from 6.
  • Dancepointe Academy lists its usual trial at $20 and takes $15 off every term for a second family member.
  • Crestar School Of Dance offers a $10 trial, $50 off the first term and a waived registration fee until 15 November, which it says saves "up to $130". The catch: you commit to two full terms (three on its Fairytale Ballet page), or pay the full regular fee. The uniform, a leotard, tutu and ballet shoes, is bought at registration.
  • Dance At The Difference charges $40 for a 45-minute Tiny Tots trial and $48 for a 60-minute Little Dancers trial, for 5 to 8.
  • Danspirations Dance Studio offers a 45-minute trial for $15, against a usual price of $33. Exams are optional.
  • Elevate Dance Academie charges $30 for a trial and a $100 deposit, not refunded but credited against your final invoice. Students must take exams to move up a level.
  • The Dance Station charges new students $75 to register, a $100 refundable deposit and $7.50 a year for compulsory accident cover, and $50 if a term's fees are paid late.

Schools that publish no class fees

What RAD and Other Ballet Exams Cost

The Royal Academy of Dance sets its Singapore fees each year, and its 2026 fee list is public. Each fee depends on where the exam happens: at your own school, if it is an approved examination centre, or at a venue the RAD arranges, which costs more. Pre-Primary is offered only as a class award; from Primary, a child can sit a class award or an exam.

RAD, per childAt your schoolAt an RAD venue
Pre-Primary class award$69$79
Primary class award$93$102
Primary exam$114$123
Grade 1 class award$98$105
Grade 1 exam$117$126
Grade 2 exam$121$134

Schools add their own fee on top. Yan charges an $88 exam admin and preparation fee, M.A Ballet $60, and Ballet Quarter an amount it does not publish. Yan refunds neither fee if the teacher later decides a child is not ready. Late entries cost 10% more in the first week and 20% in the second.

The bigger cost is the extra class. Yan's Pre-Primary candidates for April 2027 take two classes a week from Term 4 2026 until the exam, which doubles the fee for two terms. M.A Ballet moves Pre-Primary candidates to twice a week for one term and Primary candidates for two. City Ballet adds a coaching class from October to the exam, and Ballet Quarter and Singapore Ballet Academy expect two classes a week from Primary.

Whether your child must sit depends on the school. Elevate requires exams to move up a level, Charlotte Marn from age 6, and Amy's from Preschool 3, at about 6. M.A Ballet, Danspirations and All That Jazz call them optional, and at Yan the teacher decides who sits.

All That Jazz teaches the ISTD syllabus and Amy's and Tanglin the ATOD one; we found no Singapore fee list from either body, and none of the three schools prints its exam fee.

Concerts, Costumes and Uniforms

Concerts are the least predictable cost, because most schools give the date and not the price. M.A Ballet is the exception: its December recital costs $150 a dancer, with four free seats, plus $50 for each of three rehearsals and a costume from $300, so at least $600.

The rest describe the concert and not the bill. Singapore Ballet Academy charges a participation fee every two years and sells tickets. Ballet Quarter charges a performance participation fee and may add costume fees. Elevate calls its stage concert compulsory. Amy's, All That Jazz, Tanglin, The Ballet School and Cheng all stage a regular show without printing what taking part costs; Cheng says taking part is optional.

Uniforms come from the school at most studios. M.A Ballet's leotard is $50 and required on enrolment. Yan requires its own leotard, and exam candidates buy the next grade's leotard before the exam. Crestar sells a leotard, tutu and ballet shoes at registration. None of these schools prices tights or shoes. At community centres, the outfit is usually yours to buy.

What Catches Parents Out

  1. A fee with no lesson count is not a price. All That Jazz's $52 "Monthly", Tanglin's "starting from" and City Ballet's 20-lesson Primary term all need one question: how many classes, guaranteed?
  2. The exam year costs more than the exam. A second weekly class before the exam adds $384 at M.A Ballet and $680 at Yan, far more than the $69 RAD fee.
  3. Deposits and lock-ins. Ballet Quarter's deposit equals the class fee for a term. Crestar's promotion needs two full terms. Elevate keeps its $100 deposit as credit rather than refunding it.
  4. Missed classes are rarely refunded. Yan, M.A Ballet and The Dance Station refund nothing for missed classes, and Amy's allows two replacements a term.
  5. GST is mostly unstated. Yan says its prices include GST. M.A Ballet, Amy's, City Ballet and Tanglin do not say either way.

What Age Can My Child Start Ballet?

Most Singapore ballet schools take children on their own from 3, several run classes with a parent from 18 months, and the first graded exam usually comes at 6 or 7.

  • From 18 months, with a parent. Dance At The Difference's Mini Movers and Danspirations' Mommy & Me class start at 18 months, and so does Tanglin's Early Years programme. All That Jazz's Family Fun class starts at 23 months, and Yan's Creative Dance at 2.
  • From about 3, on their own. Amy's Preschool 1, M.A Ballet's Pre-Ballet and Tanglin's Twinkle Stars are drop-off classes from 3, and All That Jazz's start at 2 years 10 months. City Ballet's first class takes children born in 2023, and Cheng's Baby Ballet starts at 3.
  • From 4 or 5, a syllabus. RAD Pre-Primary starts at 4 to 5 at M.A Ballet, and at 5, for children born in 2021, at City Ballet.
  • At 6 or 7, the first exam. City Ballet's first RAD exam comes at Primary, for children born in 2020. Exams become compulsory at 6 at Charlotte Marn, and from Preschool 3, for 6 to 7, at Amy's.

At 3, most classes last 30 to 45 minutes, and several are built on stories and props. Our guides to ballet for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and for 5 and 6 year olds list every class by age.

How to Keep the Cost Down

Start with your child, not the price list.

  • Try before you pay. City Ballet, Cheng, Le Grand and The Dance Place offer free trials; Charlotte Marn's is $10 and Danspirations' $15.
  • Compare by the minute. City Ballet's 90-minute Pre-Primary class costs 65 cents a minute, less than Yan's 45-minute class at 69 cents.
  • Ask whether exams are compulsory before you enrol, and what the exam term costs. M.A Ballet, Danspirations and All That Jazz make them optional.
  • Ask what the concert costs in the year you join, including costume and rehearsals.
  • Check the branch. Yan's Shaw Centre studio charges $45 a term more for the same Pre-Primary class.

Before you pay, get three answers in writing. How many classes does this fee cover? What is payable on top: registration, deposit, uniform, exam and concert fees? And what happens to a missed class?

How We Checked These

We started from every school Jungle lists for ballet, 34 in all, and kept the 23 that teach ballet to children and could be checked online, then added StepUp and Asia Gymnastics and Dance Academy, two dance schools on Jungle that also teach RAD ballet.

Each was checked on its own website, term PDFs or booking system on 20 October 2026, and prices are as published that day. Per-class figures divide a published term fee only where the school states the number of lessons.

Exam fees come from the Royal Academy of Dance's 2026 Singapore list. Community centre fees come from onePA's own course pages, read the same day.
