The McDonald's is back at King Albert Park, and it is not in KAP Mall. The old KAP, the McDonald's and Cold Storage a generation of Bukit Timah teenagers grew up in, was sold to Oxley in 2012 and knocked down. McDonald's reopened in 2026 across the road, on Level 1 of Dunearn Village. The building that replaced it, 9 King Albert Park, is 142 flats above three floors of shops.
What those shops are is the surprise. Of the 70 or so units in KAP Mall's directory, 18 are enrichment or tuition centres, almost all of them on Level 2. Coding, group piano, cello, maths, English from six months old and a Korean-style learning centre share one corridor. Level 1 has an independent cinema with 18-seat halls and an escape room company.
What it does not have matters as much. There is no playground, free or paid, no food court, no toy shop and no nursing room on the mall's own amenities list. The car park charges the same $1.60 an hour on a Sunday as on a Tuesday. KAP with kids is a place you come to for a class and a film, then cross the road for everything else.
This guide covers every kids' reason to go, place by place, with the unit, the hours and the price. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so rather than guess. For the parks, the Rail Corridor and the free outings around the station, read our guide to things to do with kids in Upper Bukit Timah and Beauty World.
Quick steer
There is no play area inside KAP Mall and the directory lists no kiddy rides, so the two places a child will actually play are across the road and down the road. We list them first so you know what you are walking to.
Dreamdora is the new indoor playground on Level 3 of Dunearn Village, 896 Dunearn Road, which held its grand opening on 19 September 2026. Inside are a multi-level climbing structure with two curved slides and an LED slide, a ball zone, a two-storey pet hospital for dressing up as a vet, an obstacle course with a foam pit, a sensory pebble zone for the smallest, and an indoor Ferris wheel.
Grip socks are compulsory, $3 a pair at the counter. The mall's directory says ages 3 to 12; BYKidO's August 2026 preview said 2 and up with a 90cm minimum.
Why kids will love it: Riding a Ferris wheel indoors, then bandaging a toy dog in the pet hospital. Best for ages 3 to 8. A weekday morning after 10am is the quiet slot, and the $36 two-hour pass is the one to buy; an hour goes in the queue for the wheel.

The conserved 1932 station at 1005 Bukit Timah Road reopened as a free community node on 1 July 2022, with the original track levers, the ticket booth and the signals diagram inside, and replica wagons, token poles and station signs outside. The Rail Corridor runs past it in both directions and the Bukit Timah truss bridge is a few minutes north.
The old Railway Staff Quarters next door is the 1932 Story café. There is no car park, so this is the outing to do by train.
Why kids will love it: Pulling at the switching levers, then a flat, car-free path to scoot along. Best for ages 3 to 10. Go before 10am; the station building has no air conditioning and the corridor has no shade.

EagleWings Cinematics at #01-58 is the only cinema in Bukit Timah, opened in late 2018 by the EagleWings group that also runs the Loft restaurant, the minimart and the gelato counter on the same floor. The halls are small: an 18-seat Platinum hall with recliners and 60-seat standard halls. It shows mainstream releases alongside faith-based films.
A child 90cm and under enters free. Outside food is banned, which with a four-year-old means buying the popcorn.
Why kids will love it: A cinema with so few seats that it feels like a private screening, and a gelato counter at the exit. Best for ages 4 and up on a G or PG film. A weekday afternoon is cheapest; check the rating, since under-16s are limited to G, PG and PG13.

Photo: Escapee, Jungle listing
Escapee at #01-47 is the mall's escape room company, with themed 60-minute games for two to eight players. Classroom Crisis, the newest, has the team disarming a bomb in a school, which tells you the pitch is teenagers and office groups rather than preschoolers. Jungle lists it for ages 12 to 18, though Escapee's own photos show primary-school birthday parties in costume.
It opens at 11am daily. Escapee's website gave us nothing on the day of writing, and it publishes no prices.
Why kids will love it: Sixty minutes of being trusted with the clues while the adults argue. Best for ages 10 and up who can read fast under pressure. Book by phone and ask which room is the gentle one; the bomb theme will not suit every eight-year-old.

Ages: 12 to 18 on Jungle. Younger children play with an adult.

The small things in the mall are grown-up. 808 Cycles at #02-01/02 is a Brompton dealer, not a kids' bike shop. Tea Dough at #01-67 is a dog café, which is ten free minutes of patting for a child who likes dogs. Mewtants & Woofs at #01-37 is the pet shop, and EagleWings Gelato & Gifts at #01-57 is the reward after the cinema.
Eighteen tenants sit in the Education & Enrichment category of the mall's directory, all but two of them on Level 2. Two are on Jungle with a booking link. One other, Harmony & Pitch, advertises a free trial. The rest are below as not yet listed.

Photo: Coding Lab, Jungle listing
Coding Lab's Bukit Timah campus at #02-19 and #02-21, with a third room at #02-05, is one of the two campuses the MIT-founded school runs itself; the others are inside partner centres. Courses are priced per 10-hour block: Scratch 1 for ages 7 to 9 is $435, or $474.15 with GST, for five two-hour lessons, and App Inventor or Python Junior for ages 10 to 12 is $470.
One catch. The ages 5 to 6 programme runs only through partner preschools, not here, whatever the Jungle listing's 5 to 16 says. There is no published trial; higher levels need a placement test.
Why kids will love it: A Scratch game of their own running by lesson three, and a competition track for the ones who get hooked. Best for ages 7 to 12. The two-day holiday camp format, $485 for Scratch 1, suits a child who cannot do five Saturdays.

Ages: 7 to 18 at this campus.
Music for Young Children, which the mall's directory lists as The Music Room at #02-07, is the Canadian group-piano method founded in 1980, taught here by a licensed MYC teacher. Children sit at keyboards with a parent beside them, and the four levels run by age: Sunrise for 2 to 3, Sunshine for 3 to 4, Sunbeams for 5 to 6 and Moonbeams for 7 to 9, each in three ten-week blocks.
The aim is ABRSM Grade 2 practical and Grade 3 theory without one-to-one lessons. MYC Singapore publishes no fees.
Why kids will love it: Playing a keyboard in a class of friends rather than alone with a metronome, with a parent on the bench next to them. Best for ages 3 to 7. The Sunrise class needs a parent who will sing, so send the one who will.

Harmony & Pitch at #02-17 has taught piano, violin, viola, guitar, ukulele and voice here since 2017, one to one in 30, 45 or 60-minute lessons, from age 4 up to adults and seniors. Teachers hold ABRSM or Trinity qualifications and students sit either exam board, including diplomas. It is the only centre in the building that advertises a free trial, a 30-minute lesson for every new student.
It opens at 10am on Wednesday and Friday, 9am on Saturday, and 1pm on Sunday.
Why kids will love it: A violin sized for a four-year-old and a first lesson that costs nothing. Best for ages 4 to 10. Book the Saturday 9am slot; the Level 2 corridor is empty then.

Chapter One at #02-23/24 is an English school whose youngest class takes babies from six months, then runs through nursery, kindergarten, primary and secondary. Its pitch is eloquence rather than exam drilling: themed units on cultures, food and behaviour, with questions posed to the class and discussed. The KAP campus is one of two; the other is on Oxley Rise.
Trial classes are offered through the website. Fees are not published.
Why kids will love it: Being asked what they think and having the answer taken seriously, from an age when most English classes are flashcards. Best for ages 3 to 9. The baby class is a parent-and-child session, so clear a weekday morning.

Eye Level at #01-36 is the one enrichment centre on the ground floor, a franchise of the Korean Daekyo chain that runs more than 1,200 centres worldwide. It teaches maths and English in self-paced workbooks, with each child placed by a diagnostic test and moved up level by level, plus holiday camps. Ages 4 to 12.
It is a small-step, worksheet method, closer to Kumon than to a classroom, which suits some children and bores others.
Why kids will love it: Finishing a booklet and being handed the next one, which for a certain six-year-old is the whole point. Best for ages 5 to 9. The Saturday morning session is the full one; weekday afternoons are quieter.

Photo: Little Splashes Aquatics, Jungle listing
Little Splashes is not in KAP Mall, whatever its Jungle address implies. It is at #02-15 of Dunearn Village, the same building as Dreamdora, with a 12-metre by 5-metre indoor heated pool for babies, toddlers and children up to the Squad level, plus adult and adaptive classes. Seven hot showers, ten changing tables and a portable bathtub are the details that matter at 9am with a wet toddler.
The chain has seven pools; this is the only one in Bukit Timah. Fees are not on its site.
Why kids will love it: Warm water in a room with no wind, and a teacher in the pool with them from the first lesson. Best for ages 6 months to 6. The Tuesday 9.30am opening is the one slot a baby class gets before the school-age crowd.

Thirteen more centres sit in the directory's Education & Enrichment list without a timetable or fee we could verify online. All are on Level 2.
There is no dance, no art and no martial arts in the building. For taekwondo, read our ranking of taekwondo schools in Bukit Timah.
One of the ten above offers a free trial and two more a bookable one. For the island-wide list, read our guide to free trial classes for kids in Singapore. Browse KAP Mall classes on Jungle.
KAP Mall has no food court, and not one of the 18 food outlets in its October 2026 directory publishes a children's menu, a kids-eat-free deal or a child buffet price. Carl's Jr's Singapore menu has no kids' meal. What the floor does well is pizza, three ways.
For a Happy Meal, McDonald's and Burger King are both on Level 1 of Dunearn Village across the road, with a FairPrice Finest above them, and the Bukit Timah guide linked above covers the hawker centres.
KAP Mall is on the city-bound side of Bukit Timah Road at the King Albert Park junction, directly above the Downtown Line station.
The class is the reason to come, and everything a parent needs after it is across the road or one stop down the line.
