The only place to play inside Coronation Plaza is a secret garden on the second floor, and it closes on 30 November. Heppi, the pottery studio at #02-05, has turned its space into Room to Dream, an artist-led room where a parent and child draw, build and read together for two hours. It is the first play space the building has had since it opened in 1979.
Coronation Plaza and Coronation Shopping Plaza are the same building. Tenants use both names on the same unit numbers, which confuses every map search. It is a freehold strata block: 111 shops and offices on three floors, 20 flats on the fourth, a basement car park, and no mall management to publish hours, a nursing room or a tenant directory.
What it has is classes. Art, pottery, LEGO robotics, Mandarin, Kumon, piano and five tuition centres share three floors with a FairPrice Finest, a KFC and a Starbucks, all four minutes from Exit A of Tan Kah Kee MRT. Hwa Chong Institution is across the road, which is why the tuition centres are here.
This guide covers every kids' reason to go, place by place, with the unit, the hours and the price. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so rather than guess. For the parks and playgrounds around it, read our guide to things to do with kids in Bukit Timah and Holland Village.
Quick steer
There is no permanent play area inside Coronation Plaza, free or paid, and no kiddy rides or toy shop. The two places a child can actually play are a park across the road and an art installation with an end date.
Bougainvillea Park sits along 500 Dunearn Road, on the far side of the overhead bridge from Tan Kah Kee station's Exit B. NParks lists a small playground and a fitness corner, open 24 hours, and a parent review describes a rain garden at the playground end, covered picnic benches and toilets.
It is a neighbourhood park, not a destination. The playground suits ages 2 to 7 and you will not spend more than 40 minutes in it, which is the right length between a Saturday class and lunch.
Why kids will love it: A slide and climbing frame they do not have to queue for, and a rain garden to poke at after a downpour. Best for ages 2 to 7. Cross by the bridge, which has escalators and lifts at both ends, not the road.

Painted pottery at Heppi. Photo: Heppi Pottery and Goods, Jungle listing
Heppi Pottery and Goods at #02-05 is a small family pottery studio, and from 2 October to 30 November 2026 it is also Room to Dream, a secret garden built by artists where children and adults draw, build and read in the space together. A visit is a two-hour open-ended booking. Three guided programmes, Bloom, Meadow and Firefly, add a themed craft to the garden time, and a PlayPass bundles five visits.
The prices below are from Heppi's booking page in September 2026. The studio is closed on Mondays.
Why kids will love it: Being allowed to draw on the garden, with a parent on the floor beside them rather than on a bench outside. Best for ages 3 to 8. Book a weekday afternoon slot; weekend mornings are the ones that sell out.

The small things inside the building that matter to a parent are on Level 1. FairPrice Finest at #01-01 opens 8am to 11pm, so it is the water bottle, the plaster and the breakfast before a 9am class. KFC at #01-04 opens at 7am at weekends. There is no toy shop, no bookshop and no dentist that advertises for children.
Eleven tenants teach children, across all three floors. Five listings are on Jungle: Heppi above, three centres here, and Children's Worklab's camps, which run inside Robotics Connection. Of the rest, two offer a free trial and one a paid one. Only Robotics Connection publishes its fees.

Photo: Global Art, Jungle listing
Global Art at #02-23 is the franchise art school's Bukit Timah centre, run by principal Mrs Goh. The programme is banded by age: Junior for 3 to 4, Foundation for 5 to 6, Pre-Basic for 6 to 7, Basic for 7 to 9, Intermediate for 10 to 12 and Advanced from 13. Handicraft, G-Clay and Deco Art start at 4; Cartoon and Comic and acrylic painting at 7.
The centre publishes no timetable or fee for this branch. Jungle lists it from age 2; Global Art's own programme page starts at 3.
Why kids will love it: A worksheet-led drawing system that gets a four-year-old to a finished picture in one session, and clay to look forward to. Best for ages 4 to 9 who like structure. Ask for the Saturday morning slot first; it fills.

Photo: Robotics Connection Singapore, Jungle listing
Robotics Connection at #03-41/43 is the sister centre of Children's Worklab, and the only centre in the building with a full price list. LEGO Engineering for ages 5 to 8 is a one-hour class: a trial costs $65 at Junior Level 1 and $60 above that, then $220 to $245 for four weekday sessions or $400 for eight. Robotics from age 7 is a two-hour class: trial $90, then $510 for eight sessions, $570 for SPIKE Prime, EV3 and Arduino.
Registration is $50, once. All LEGO stays in the room. Holiday camps are booked by the week; the September and October 2026 schedule is a PDF on the site.
Why kids will love it: A LEGO crane with a working motor by the end of hour one, and a robot that follows a line by the end of the trial. Best for ages 5 to 12. Book a weekday 1pm slot in the holidays; Saturdays fill first.

Ages: 5 to 16.
Children's Worklab is the Orchard Road robotics school, with centres at Forum, UE Square and Shaw Centre. Jungle lists its camps at this address, and Robotics Connection's own site says the holiday camps here run in conjunction with it: Robocamp Apprentice for ages 4.5 to 7, Xplorers animation from 7, 3D modelling and printing from 8, Robocamp Junior and Senior for 8 to 13, SPIKE Prime from 9 and Robot Inventor from 10.
Camp prices are in the PDF schedules, not on the page. Children's Worklab's own site does not list Coronation Plaza as a venue, so confirm the venue when you book.
Why kids will love it: Five mornings building one robot that does more each day, and a 4.5-year-old gets a real motor, not a pretend one. Best for ages 5 to 10 in the November holidays. Ask which building the camp is in before you pay.

Yuquan Language School at #03-11. Photo: Yuquan Language School, Jungle listing
Yuquan at #03-11 is the Bukit Timah branch of a Mandarin school founded in 1996, with two others at Beauty World Centre and Parkway Centre. Classes run from N1 to Secondary 4 in groups of 6 to 8: a K2 literacy and reading programme, a Primary 1 preparation class in Hanyu Pinyin, comprehension and composition through primary, and a PSLE intensive. Holiday programmes cover every level.
The school publishes no fees and no timetable for this branch. A trial class is bookable through the contact page.
Why kids will love it: A class of six where the teacher notices them, and a Hanyu Pinyin head start the year before Primary 1. Best for ages 4 to 10 from English-speaking homes. Ask for the trial in a class one level below the school's.

Kumon at #03-28 runs the worksheet method in English, Mathematics and Chinese for ages 3 to 16, which makes it the only centre in the building that takes a three-year-old for maths. The catch is the hours: it opens Monday and Tuesday 11am to 7pm, Thursday 2pm to 7pm, Wednesday by appointment, and not at all from Friday to Sunday. Kumon's own site lists the centre with no phone, only an email.
Why kids will love it: Not the worksheets. The sticker chart, and finishing a level before a sibling. Best for ages 4 to 9 who need daily practice more than a teacher. It is not yet on Jungle.

Our Learning Loft at #03-03 is an MOE-registered tuition centre that starts younger than its neighbours, with preschool English, maths and phonics before the primary and secondary subjects, and it is the one centre in the building that advertises a free trial outright. It opens seven days, 1pm to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 9pm at weekends, which is the longest timetable on the floor. A second branch is up the road at 613A Bukit Timah Road.
Why kids will love it: A phonics class at 5 that feels like a game, and a free first lesson so nobody is committed. Best for ages 5 to 10. Call rather than WhatsApp; the number is a landline.

Coronation Music School at #03-10 has been in the building since 1981, which makes it the oldest kids' tenant here by decades. It teaches individual lessons and runs workshops and a chamber music programme from age 6, with school events priced on top of lessons. Its website carries testimonials and an enrolment form and not one price, instrument list or phone number, so the details below are thinner than we would like.
Why kids will love it: A teacher who has taught three generations of the same Bukit Timah families, and a recital to practise for. Best for ages 6 to 12. Use the enrolment form on the site; there is no walk-in counter.

BlueTree at #02-33/34 is a maths and science tuition chain's Bukit Timah centre, teaching Primary 1 to 6 maths, science and Chinese and Secondary 1 to 4 maths and science, with PSLE and O Level as the point of it. It offers a trial lesson, payable once confirmed, and its 2027 fee schedule is a link on the page rather than a figure. Tan Kah Kee station is a five-minute walk.
Why kids will love it: Not the point. Parents will like a paid trial with no term commitment and a WhatsApp number that answers. Best for Primary 4 upwards.

Zenith at #01-05, beside the KFC on the ground floor, is a tuition chain's Bukit Timah branch with primary English, maths and science at the bottom of a ladder that runs to junior college, which is why it opens until 9.30pm. It is 150 metres from Tan Kah Kee station and advertises a free trial class for new students, arranged by the centre once a slot is free.
Why kids will love it: Not the point either. Parents will like the free trial and the weekend 10am start. Best for Primary 4 upwards.

The Thought Tailor at #03-15 teaches English from primary level through IP Language Arts to General Paper, and is the English specialist in a building where the others sell maths. Its 2026 schedule and fees are a document on its site rather than a figure on the page. It publishes free English and GP sample materials, which is the nearest thing to a trial.
Why kids will love it: A composition marked for ideas, not just grammar. Best for Primary 3 to 6 whose school report says "expression weak".

One more tuition name, Kim and You Academy, is reported on Level 3 in search results, but we could not confirm a unit number or a timetable, so it is not an entry. Two of the eleven offer a free trial and two a paid one. For the island-wide list, read our guide to free trial classes for kids in Singapore. Browse Coronation Plaza classes on Jungle.
There is no food court and no restaurant with a children's menu. One place sells a kids' meal, KFC, and the rest is a supermarket, a Starbucks and two small eateries on the upper floors that feed the tuition crowd. No McDonald's, no Swensen's, no ice cream parlour.
KFC at #01-04 is the family meal in the building and the earliest breakfast at weekends, opening at 7am on Saturday and Sunday and 11am on weekdays, until 10.30pm. The children's offer is the Lil' Bucket Junior Meal range, Lil' Tenders, Lil' Tenders Twister or Lil' Chicken, from $5.95, with a family meal from $20.95. The range was a limited-time promotion in August 2026 and is listed on KFC's own menu; ask before you promise it.
Why kids will love it: Tenders they can hold, and a corn cup that comes free with selected meals. Best for any age. Go at 5pm on a weekday, before the tuition centres let out.
