The Poiz Centre with Kids: A Closed Playground, 6 Classes on One Floor and a $5.90 Kids' Meal (2026)

The Poiz Centre's only playground closed on 28 February 2026, and the mall's directory still lists it. Kidztropic, the toddler play room at #03-12/13, now operates only at Furama Riverfront. If you are coming to Potong Pasir for the ball pit, do not.

The Poiz Centre is not really a mall. It is two retail floors under the 731-flat Poiz Residences, with a 7-metre covered walkway from Potong Pasir MRT Exit C straight through to the HDB blocks behind. Level 1 is a FairPrice, two pharmacies and 19 places to eat. Level 3 is the kids' floor.

That third floor is the reason to read on. Six enrichment centres sit in a row: English, writing, Chinese, piano, drums and taekwondo, with a dentist and a TCM clinic between them. Three are on Jungle. Write Edge publishes its fees, My Drum School sells a $20 trial, and My English School holds an open house on 25 October 2026.

Family favourites: play at The Poiz Centre

There is no play area left inside The Poiz Centre, free or paid, and no kiddy rides or toy shop in the directory. The one that existed is below, with its status, because parents still search for it by name. The free play is five minutes away.

1. Kidztropic: closed since 28 February 2026

Kidztropic opened at #03-12/13 in 2023 as a soft-play room for children up to 6: slides, a ball pit, trampolines, a climbing wall and a pretend-play kopitiam, with grip socks required and one adult admitted per child. It charged $25 for two hours on weekdays and $29 at weekends.

BYKidO's September 2026 playground roundup records that the Poiz outlet closed from 28 February 2026, and Kidztropic's own site, pricing page and FAQ now list only Kidztropic Cove at Annex @ Furama Riverfront Hotel. The mall's directory and the Jungle listing still carry the Poiz unit. Treat both as out of date.

Why kids will love it: They would have. The Cove outlet at 407 Havelock Road keeps the same format, the same prices and the same Tuesday to Sunday hours. Best for ages 1 to 5.

2. Block 142 climbing playground, five minutes away

The nearest free play is the housing estate playground in front of Block 142 Potong Pasir, next to the community club: a rust-red triangular tower with a different challenge on each face, a rope bridge about 2 metres up, a circular rope tunnel, a cargo net to a suspended basket and a metal slide down.

A lower green cargo net platform takes the under-fives. It is unshaded, uncovered and unsupervised, which is the deal with every HDB playground. Little Day Out described it in February 2023; we found nothing newer and no notice of works.

Why kids will love it: Rigging to climb like a ship's mast, with a parent close enough to catch. Best for ages 5 to 10; a three-year-old gets the low net only. Go before 10am or after 5pm, and bring water.

3. Potong Pasir Community Club, next to the playground

Potong Pasir Community Club at 6 Potong Pasir Avenue 2 is the cheapest classroom in the estate. Its courses run from piano, ballet and Chinese at up to $450 a term to free interest groups, and the counter is open 10am to 6pm. It has badminton courts, a cafe and a children's playground on its doorstep, which is the one above.

The course list changes every term and is not on the club's own page, so call 6280 1182 or check the OnePA listing before you promise a child ballet.

Why kids will love it: A dragon boat or table tennis interest group that costs nothing, and the climbing tower outside when the class ends. Best for ages 5 to 12.

The small things inside the mall that matter to a parent are on Level 1. FairPrice at #01-30 to 49 is the anchor and the snack stop, Guardian at #01-23/24 and Watsons at #01-55 to 57 sell the plasters, and Q&M Dental Surgery at #03-10/11 is on the kids' floor. There is no toy shop, no bookshop and no children's clothing.

Six enrichment centres occupy Level 3, in one row off the lift lobby. Three are on Jungle and come first below; the three unlisted ones follow. One sells a priced trial, two offer a free assessment, and one publishes its full fee table.

4. My English School

My English School at #03-04/05 is one of the chain's 18 centres, teaching English from Nursery 1 to Primary 6 in once-a-week classes of 1.5 to 2 hours. The Reading Programme covers N1 to K2, the Primary Programme P1 to P5, and a PSLE class takes P6.

There is no trial class. Instead the school gives a free assessment to children from preschool to Primary 4 and places them by level. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Poiz centre holds an open house on Sunday 25 October 2026, 10am to 5pm, with a starter kit and a discount for anyone who registers that day.

Why kids will love it: Phonics and reading that moves at their level rather than the class's, and a teacher who already knows where they are from the assessment. Best for ages 4 to 9. Book the assessment before the 25 October open house if you want the discount.

5. Write Edge

Write Edge at #03-02/03 is the one centre in the building that publishes its fees, and they are the figures a parent needs. Two-hour weekly lessons cost $70 for Primary 1 and 2, $80 for Primary 3 and 4, $85 for Primary 5 and 6 and $95 for Secondary 1 to 4, which is $840 to $1,140 for a 12-lesson term. Registration is $80 and the deposit $100; materials are free, and this branch does not add GST.

The programmes are Primary Creative Writing, Primary English Enrichment in two bands and Secondary O-Level English. Trials are booked by WhatsApp.

Why kids will love it: A composition handed back with a comment on every paragraph rather than a grade, and a plan for the next one. Best for Primary 3 to 6. Check the fee table before you call; it is the only one on the floor.

6. Fun Melodia Music

Fun Melodia Music at #03-09 is the small independent music school on the floor: piano from 4.5, ukulele and guitar, a Little Tots music course for 2 to 4 year olds in 45-minute Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday sessions, and a music production holiday programme for older children. Piano runs on three tracks, graded exam, Junior Pianist and Leisure and Contemporary, so a child who wants pop songs is not pushed into scales.

Trials are paid and priced by course and slot; the booking form offers 9am to 10pm slots. Fees are not published.

Why kids will love it: A keyboard and a teacher who will teach the song they asked for. Best for ages 4 to 10. The toddler class enrols in October, so ask now.

7. My Drum School

My Drum School at #03-06 has three drum studios and room for 250 weekly students, and after Write Edge it is the most open about money. Lessons are one-to-one and weekly: Preschool for 5 to 6, Junior for 7 to 12, Beginner and Intermediate from 13. A 30-minute weekday lesson is $230 a month for Preschool and Junior, $245 in the evenings and at weekends; 45 minutes is $345 to $368. Registration is $50 and the refundable deposit $250.

The trial is the cheapest on the floor: 15 minutes for $20, for ages 5 to 12. It is one of four branches, with Kallang, Ang Mo Kio and Buona Vista.

Why kids will love it: A full kit they are allowed to hit from the first minute, and a teacher who counts them in. Best for ages 6 to 12. Weekday afternoons are $15 a month cheaper than Saturdays.

8. JH Kim Taekwondo Institute

JH Kim Taekwondo at #03-01 is the Potong Pasir branch of the school Grand Master Kim Jae Hun founded in Boston in 1974, and the only sport on the floor. Skoolopedia lists it for ages 4 to 17; the school's own website was offline on the day of writing, so the timetable and fees could not be read. The lesson marketplace that lists it shows no schedule and "enquire for price". Call before you come; there is no walk-in counter.

Why kids will love it: Kicking a pad as hard as they like and being praised for it, then a belt to show for it. Best for ages 5 to 12 who need to run before they can sit.

9. Leap Learning Centre

Leap Learning Centre at #03-07 is a Chinese tuition centre with two branches, this one and Djitsun Mall in Bedok. It runs Primary Preparation for preschoolers, a Primary Enhance course that includes Higher Chinese, Secondary Express and Higher Chinese, plus calligraphy, weiqi and a parent-child programme. The published figure is for the holiday programme: $300 for preschool and primary, $350 for secondary, Monday to Friday in two-hour lessons. Term fees are by enquiry.

Why kids will love it: Weiqi and brush calligraphy, which are the two Chinese classes a child will not call tuition. Best for ages 5 to 12.

Eat with kids at The Poiz Centre

The Poiz Centre has no food court. All 19 food outlets in the 2026 directory are on Level 1, most of them takeaway counters. Exactly one has a published children's menu, Saizeriya, and it is the one with high chairs and a drink bar.

10. Saizeriya: kids' meal $5.90

Saizeriya at #01-65 to 68 is the Japanese-Italian chain where a child's plate costs less than the car park, and it is the only sit-down restaurant in the mall with a children's menu. The Kid's Meal is $5.90 nett on the 2026 menu, and the Kids Drink Bar is $1.50 for unlimited hot and cold drinks for ages 4 to 12; children 3 and under drink free. Soups are $2.90, the corn soup included.

Every price on the menu is nett, GST included and no service charge, which is why the bill for a family of four stays under what one adult pays elsewhere on Upper Serangoon Road.

Why kids will love it: Their own drink-bar cup, refilled by themselves as many times as they like. Best for any age that can sit at a table. Go before the Level 3 classes let out in the evening.

Family facilities at The Poiz Centre

• Nursing room: the mall's site lists none, and we found no nursing-room directory entry for the building. Plan on the car or FairPrice's trolley for a feed.
• Kids' dentist: Q&M Dental Surgery at #03-10/11 is on the same floor as the classes.
• Pharmacies: Guardian at #01-23/24 and Watsons at #01-55 to 57.
• Stroller loan and family lots: neither is mentioned on the mall's site. Lifts serve Levels 1 and 3.
• Car park: entry from Meyappa Chettiar Road. The mall publishes no rates online; ask at the barrier.
• Car park, overflow: Blocks 146 and 147 Potong Pasir Avenue 2, at HDB rates.
• Parking rebate: none published.
• Mall hours: 10am to 10pm daily. The covered walkway from the MRT is open 24 hours.

Getting there

The Poiz Centre sits on Upper Serangoon Road directly above Potong Pasir MRT, with the station's Exit C opening into the mall.

• By MRT: Potong Pasir (NE10) on the North East Line, Exit C. The sheltered link runs straight into Level 1.
• By bus: 13, 107, 133, 142, 147 and 853 stop on Upper Serangoon Road outside.
• By car and taxi: turn into Meyappa Chettiar Road from the PIE or CTE side, or Potong Pasir Avenue 1 from Serangoon. The car park entrance is on Meyappa Chettiar Road.

The free play, the big park and a real indoor playground are each one short walk or one MRT stop away.
