Only 2 of the 13 taekwondo schools listed on Jungle publish what a lesson costs. Kickmatics charges $42 a lesson, less on longer terms, and Trifecta $250 a month for one class a week. The other 11 quote on request. Yet the five that say how often they grade all test every three months, and each test is paid on top. That is why taekwondo fees in Singapore are hard to compare: the lesson is only part of the bill.
How we checked. On 20 October 2026 we read the fee page, FAQ or rate card of every taekwondo, karate, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and wushu school listed on Jungle: 34 schools, 16 of which publish a fee. Prices are quoted as each school prints them, with its date where it gives one. Per-class figures divide a package only where the school states the class count. Community club fees come from onePA's own course pages, read the same day.
Taekwondo comes first because most schools teach it and most parents search for it. Karate, judo, BJJ and wushu follow, with the same checks. For class times and trials at the youngest ages, see our guide to martial arts for 4 to 6 year olds.
What a class costs at the schools that publish fees, by type of class. All prices were read on each school's own site on 20 October 2026.
| Type | Price | What it buys |
|---|---|---|
| Community club, onePA | $40 to $210 a course | 4 to 24 sessions; half cost $10 a session or less |
| Taekwondo school | $28.90 to $42 a lesson | Kickmatics, by the block; Trifecta $250 a month |
| Karate | $25 to $30 a class | passes; clubs charge $90 to $120 a month |
| Judo | $35 to $45 a class | four classes a month |
| BJJ | $36 to $54.95 a class | passes; unlimited $249 to $410 a month |
| Wushu | $40.88 to $57.20 a class | credit packs, 1.5-hour classes |
| Grading | $50 to $250 a test | every three months at most schools |
| Uniform | $65 to $140 | dobok or gi, the first one |
| Sparring gear | up to $350 | full set, from green belt |
| Competition | $76.30 | national championship entry |
Three things stand out. Taekwondo is the least open of the five arts about price. Karate is the most open: all four schools on Jungle publish fees. And grading is the cost that comes back: four times a year at every taekwondo and karate school that says how often.
The community club line is a benchmark, not a recommendation. onePA listed 133 taekwondo courses on 20 October 2026, from $40 for four sessions to $210 for eight. Half cost $10 a session or less at the PAssion Card rate. The course fee is rarely the whole cost: 33 listings mention a uniform on top, usually paid to the trainer, at $85 to $180 where a price is given.
A monthly fee, a 16-class pass and a 12-lesson term cannot be compared directly, so here is one yardstick: a year of one class a week, 48 classes or 12 months, with one-time fees included. Grading is added only where the school publishes the fee.
| School | Year one | How it adds up |
|---|---|---|
| Shitoryu Kai, karate | $1,183 | $90 a month, $38 membership, $65 uniform; grading extra |
| Fight Academy, karate | $1,250 | five 10-class packs |
| Karate Academy | $1,656 to $1,676 | three 16-class passes, $50 admin, gi, up to four gradings |
| Ascend, judo | $1,680 | $140 a month |
| Kickmatics, taekwondo | $1,771.60 | 48 lessons, $50 to join, $8 name; grading extra |
| SKA, karate | $1,800 | $120 a month, $40 membership, four gradings; gi extra |
| Carpe Diem, BJJ | $1,860 | 50 classes on passes |
| Xuan Sports, wushu | $2,049.20 | 48 lessons on credits, $32.70 admin |
| SUL, judo or BJJ | $2,160 | $180 a month for four classes |
| Gracie Jiu-Jitsu | $2,530 | a year unlimited, gi included, $30 to join |
| Martial House, wushu | $2,581.28 | two Silver packs, with membership |
| Gracie Barra, BJJ | $2,888.60 to $2,938.60 | a year unlimited, $50 to $100 to join |
| Fortitude, BJJ | $3,120 | 48 weeks, no joining fee |
| Trifecta, taekwondo | from $3,390 | $250 a month, $150 to join, four gradings |
| Elite, judo or BJJ | $3,534 | a year unlimited, paid upfront |
The spread is three to one. The cheapest year, karate at a club, costs a third of a year of unlimited judo or BJJ at Elite. The unlimited plans at the bottom of the table cost more because they cover every class the school runs; a child who trains twice a week gets twice the classes for the same fee.
For taekwondo, a year at Trifecta costs almost twice as much as at Kickmatics, and Kickmatics' total does not yet include grading, because it does not publish the fee. Ask for it before you compare: STA, Trifecta and The Karate Academy each charge $50 to $60 for a colour-belt test, and all three grade four times a year.
Thirteen taekwondo schools are listed on Jungle. Two publish a lesson fee, three more publish some of the extras, and eight publish nothing at all. These five cards cover every published figure.

Juniors from 412-lesson minimum$28.90 to $42 a lesson
Kickmatics publishes the fullest taekwondo price list we found. Lessons are sold in blocks: 12 at one a week, or 24 at two a week, with 5% to 15% off for paying three to 12 months ahead. The Adidas uniform is $135, with $50 off on a three-month sign-up and free on six months or more. Colour-belt gradings run four times a year, in February, May, late July and late October; the fee is not published.
Price: $478.80 for 12 lessons over three months, one a week ($39.90 a lesson); $907.20 for 24 over six months ($37.80); $1,713.60 for 48 over a year ($35.70). Twice a week: $775.20 for 24 lessons over three months ($32.30), down to $2,774.40 for 96 over a year ($28.90). Registration $50, uniform $135, name embroidery $8. Taekwondo and BJJGrading every 3 months$250 a month
Trifecta is the only taekwondo school on Jungle that prints its grading fees: $60 to $250 a test, depending on the belt, every three months. Its FAQ is as plain about the rest. Uniform, sparring gear and grading all sit outside the membership, and a full sparring set, $350, is compulsory from green-tip belt. Each colour belt needs at least 12 hours of training before a child can grade.
Price: $250 a month for one class a week (taekwondo and BJJ kids only), plus a one-time $150 registration fee. Unlimited from $300 a month on the price page; the FAQ says $150 to $250 a month by belt, so ask which applies. Grading $60 to $250. Sparring gear $350. Uniform price not published.
Trial: $50, refunded against your sign-up fees if you join (first trial only).

STA publishes everything except the lesson fee, which each centre sets. Every student pays STA registration of $60 a year and buys a starter package on joining: $130 for the uniform, kick mitt and gloves, $200 adding boots and a groin guard, or $320 with full sparring gear and some free lessons. Colour-belt gradings cost $50, or $60 at STA's own studios, plus $25 if you pay late or cancel.

Tiny Tots from 3Three-month termsGrading each term
Taeseong charges by three-month term, the same fee at every age, and grades at the end of each term, in February, May, August and November. A child needs 10 lessons in the term to grade. Green, red and black-tip belts need 20 and must train twice a week, so the bill rises at those belts. Four more studios, in Bukit Timah, Alexandra, River Valley and Novena, are not yet on Jungle.
Price: Taeseong Taekwondo does not publish its term fees online. Contact them for current prices. Published extras: $50 registration per child, a $50 refundable deposit (two weeks' notice), and $10 for late payment.
Trial: Arranged after the online registration form. The price is not published.

Tots to adultsQuarterly gradingFree trial
KTMA sells packages of one, two or three classes a week and grades quarterly: January or February, April or May, July or August, and October or November. Children need 10 group classes to grade. Green belts need 20, half of them sparring classes, which means a second class a week. A class missed without 12 hours' notice is still billed. Four more branches, in West Coast, Yishun, Bukit Timah and Katong, are not yet on Jungle.

Eight more taekwondo schools publish no fees at all:
Grading is the fee that keeps coming back. A child who passes every test moves up a belt each quarter, and pays each time. Here is what the schools that publish say.
| School | Fee a test | How often |
|---|---|---|
| STA | $50; $60 at studios | Every quarter |
| Trifecta | $60 to $250 by belt | Every 3 months |
| Kickmatics | Not published | Four a year |
| Taeseong | Not published | End of each term |
| KTMA | Not published | Quarterly |
| Karate Academy | $60, belt included | Not stated |
| SKA, karate | $80, 2025 fee | About every 3 months |
| Shitoryu Kai | Not published | Every 3 months |
| Gracie Jiu-Jitsu | In the membership | Not stated |
Black belt costs more. STA charges $100 for a junior first-dan grading and $200 for a senior one. Its colour belts run from White 9 to Red 1, nine gradings in all. A child who passes each first time pays $450 in colour-belt fees and $100 at black belt: $550 in grading alone, plus $60 a year in STA registration.
How long that takes depends on the school. Johan says many students reach junior black belt, for under-15s, within four years. SKA says black belt in karate typically takes three to three and a half years of regular classes.
Every school that publishes rules sets a floor, and missing it means waiting for the next test, three months later.
A first uniform costs $65 to $140 at the schools that print a price. Gear is the second, larger step, and it usually arrives at green belt. ILDO says the Singapore Taekwondo Federation's rules require guards for sparring and gradings from green belt, and KyungHee asks green belts and above to grade in arm, shin and groin guards.
At community clubs the uniform is paid to the trainer, at $85 to $180 in the onePA listings that give a price, sometimes with a kicking pad or shoes.
Competitions are optional, and the national ones are cheap to enter. The Singapore Taekwondo Federation charged $76.30 a child, GST included, for its 2026 National Poomsae Championships in August, and $152.60 for a sibling or family pair. Its age groups start at 4 to 6, with a white-belt event, so even beginners can take part.
Its kyorugi (sparring) championships in September cost the same $76.30 but are open only from green belt. Competitors bring their own shin, forearm and groin guards, gloves, electronic scoring socks and a moulded mouthguard, and the youngest groups wear headgear with a face shield.
Entries go through the school, not the parent, and the school may charge more than the published fee. Trifecta's FAQ says organisers charge schools extra and it passes those costs on. SUL charges a competition day with a coach present as one drop-in session, $48. Kickmatics' 2026 calendar lists seven competitions, from the Han Championship in March to the Daedo Championship in December.
Most schools let a child try before you pay, and the trial is often the only price a school publishes.
Kickmatics' trial is a private 30-minute session with a coach, not a seat in a class. Ask which you are getting, because a private trial shows you the coach, not the group your child will join.
All four karate schools listed on Jungle publish their fees, which no other art here manages. Two are clubs with a monthly fee and an annual membership; two sell class packs.

Most taekwondo schools on Jungle take children from 3; community club courses that state an age mostly start at 5 to 7.
Seven schools run a class from 3: Taeseong's Tiny Tots, Johan's toddler class (3 to 4.5, younger by assessment), ILDO, IL JIN, LK, HanKuk and Taekwondonomics. Kickmatics and Gaonhae start at 4. On onePA, 33 of the 39 community club taekwondo courses that state an age set the minimum at 5, 6 or 7.
A younger start does not mean a cheaper class. Taeseong charges the same term fee at every age, and its Tiny Tots class runs 45 minutes against an hour for older children. Competitions start young too: the federation's poomsae championship has an age group for 4 to 6 year olds. Our guide to martial arts for 4 to 6 year olds has class times for that age at 39 schools.
Start with what your child wants to do, then the budget.
Before you pay, ask three questions and get the answers in writing. How many classes does this fee cover? What does a grading cost at each belt, and how often? What must we buy, and when?
