Art Classes for Kids in Jurong: The 5 Best on Jungle, Ranked (2026)

The art school in Jurong with the most Google reviews is not in a mall. It is Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle, at the end of Lorong Tawas off Jalan Bahar, where the Tan family has run Singapore's oldest surviving dragon kiln since 1965. It has 698 reviews. It still ranks fifth below, and the method section explains why.

The malls matter too. Westgate alone has three children's art studios on two floors, and two of them made this list. A third studio 400 metres away in Vision Exchange took first place.

Two names you may know are missing. Global Art's Jurong East centre at Blk 131 Jurong Gateway Road is marked permanently closed on Google and no longer appears in Global Art's own list of centres. Abrakadoodle's Westgate unit, #04-39, is now a tuition centre. Global Art still teaches in Jurong West, and that branch is ranked.

This is a ranking of art providers listed on Jungle, the five in Jurong East and Jurong West that passed verification. It is not a survey of every art class in the west. 1. Joyme Art Studio

Joyme is a homegrown art school with two studios, one here in Vision Exchange and one in Marine Parade. Children move through four levels by age and skill. Creative Art runs from 4 to 7, Little Picasso from 7 to 9, Little Artist from 9 to 12 and Liberals above 12. The middle levels cover still life, watercolour, acrylic and Chinese ink, with light and shadow, perspective and composition. Joyme also teaches Chinese calligraphy with pen and brush, an anime class, and Chinese painting for children above 12.

It holds a 5.0 from 148 Google reviews, the highest rating and the second-largest review count in this list. Prices are not published.

Why kids will love it: Four-year-olds start with art and craft across different materials, in what Joyme calls an unrestricted environment. By seven they are painting a still life in watercolour and trying Chinese ink with a brush. Lessons also go outdoors for sketching and include three-dimensional handicrafts. The studio opens at 9am on Saturdays, so a class fits before lunch.

2. Tree Art

Tree Art's Jurong East campus is on level 4 of Westgate. Its courses follow a curriculum it calls REMAT. Classes and teachers rotate, so a child learns from more than one specialist. Lessons extend to museums, outdoor sketching and overseas study trips. Creative Art covers ages 3 to 8, Professional Art starts at 8, and Portfolio Preparation runs from 8 to 18, with a separate DSA Visual Art track for primary and secondary pupils. Student work has hung at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.

The trial class is free for ages 3 to 18, runs 60 minutes and includes all materials. Term fees are not published.

Why kids will love it: Three-year-olds learn the proper names of colours and mix two of them, through drawing games called Colour Relay and Shape Transformation. They finger-paint, try monoprinting and meet Kandinsky, Malevich and Klee in the same year. One published project for this age is an octopus made from clay and buttons. At four and five, figures, faces and first Chinese painting arrive.

3. ARTARY

ARTARY has taught children's art since 2010 and runs its Jurong Junior Campus on level 2 of Westgate. The fine art programme is weekly and runs by age: 75 minutes a week from 3 to 5.4 years, then 90 minutes a week from 5.5 up to 14. Classes are held in very small groups. Older children work through famous artworks in painting and sculpture, and there is a DSA portfolio class. From 9, children can also take Digital Art, an iPad course in Procreate. ARTARY sells Level 1, for 9 to 12-year-olds, in blocks of four sessions, and Level 2 in blocks of four or twelve.

One catch. ARTARY does not answer phone enquiries about programmes. Use the contact form and expect a reply within three working days.

Why kids will love it: The youngest classes are built around play, with cartoons, songs and hands-on activities, and art tools chosen to train small fingers. From five and a half the lessons lengthen to 90 minutes and move on to the basics and principles of art. A ten-year-old who draws on a tablet at home can learn character proportions and how clothes fold on an iPad instead.

4. Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle

This is the one on the list that is not a weekly class. Thow Kwang is a working pottery at 85 Lorong Tawas, on the far western edge of Jurong, and it has run pottery workshops for schools and the public since 2001. The Tan family has owned its dragon kiln, the oldest surviving one in Singapore, since 1965. The National Heritage Board gave it a Stewards of Singapore's Intangible Cultural Heritage Award in June 2020.

The public workshop is Hand Building and Potter's Wheel, 2.5 hours on selected Saturdays. The next three dates are 10 October at 2pm, 28 November at 10am and 26 December at 10am. The operator's own booking page calls the location "the far ulu Jurong area". Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early: anyone more than 15 minutes late loses the seat.

Why kids will love it: Real clay, and a lot of it. Children pinch, coil and roll a pen holder or a mug by hand, then sit at a spinning potter's wheel and pull up a bowl, cup or mini vase with an instructor alongside. Both pieces are fired and ready to collect three to four weeks later. The kiln they walk past is still fired three or four times a year.

Getting there: Bus 199 from Boon Lay Interchange, next to Boon Lay MRT (EW27), to the sixth stop, Bef Lor Danau on Nanyang Avenue. About 20 minutes, then a 7-minute walk across Jurong Eco Park. By car, take PIE exit 36 for Jalan Bahar.

5. Global Art

Global Art has taught children in Singapore since 1999 and runs more than 20 centres. Its only one in Jurong is on level 4 of Hong Kah Point, Blk 504 Jurong West Street 51. The core programme runs in five levels: Junior from 3 to 4, Foundation from 4 to 7, Pre-Basic from 7 to 9, Basic and Intermediate from 7 to 12, and Advanced from 13. Around it sit Cartoon and Comic, Acrylic Painting and 3D Clay from 7, G-Clay and Deco Art from 4, and Cultural Art from 6.

It opens Wednesday to Sunday only and closes on public holidays. It ranks fifth because its 4.3 is the lowest rating here.

Why kids will love it: The Global Art method is systematic colouring. Children learn to blend gel pastels into smooth, bright gradients, one workbook level at a time, so the progress from term to term is visible on paper. Three and four-year-olds also get games, puzzles and storytelling in the same lesson. Trial classes are offered for the core levels, not the holiday or specialist ones.

What art classes cost in Jurong

Two of the five publish their class fees: ARTARY, per class, and the pottery, per workshop. Tree Art publishes its free trial and its registration fee but not its term fees. Joyme and Global Art publish no fees. These are the figures on the operators' own sites in September 2026.

Use the free trials. Two of the five let a child try a full class before a parent pays anything, and a trial is the only way to see how a teacher handles a four-year-old who wants to paint everything purple.

How to choose an art class in Jurong

1. Start with the age. Tree Art, ARTARY and Global Art take children from 3, and Joyme from 4. Thow Kwang takes 8 to 14 on their own and younger children only with a parent at the wheel.

2. Decide between method and freedom. Global Art teaches a set colouring technique through workbooks, level by level. Tree Art rotates teachers and builds lessons around themes and famous artists. Joyme sits between the two, with a technique ladder from craft to watercolour and ink.

3. Check the lesson length. ARTARY publishes it: 75 minutes for under-5.5s and 90 minutes after that, once a week. Ask the others at the trial.

4. Think about DSA early if it matters. Tree Art and ARTARY both run portfolio classes aimed at Direct School Admission in visual art. Start a year or two before Primary 6, not in the term before applications open.

5. Match the days to your week. Tree Art, Joyme and Global Art all close on Mondays, and Global Art also closes on Tuesdays. ARTARY opens every day.
