Coding and Robotics Classes for 5 to 7 Year Olds in Singapore: 9 Schools (2026)

16 October 2026 · 13 min read

TL;DR – The Quick Version

We checked every school Jungle lists for coding and robotics against its own website, and nine run a class or camp a child aged 5 to 7 can join. At 5 and 6 most classes are hands-on: robots coded with picture cards, blocks or a remote. Scratch on a computer starts at 7. Two schools teach this age only in holiday camps, and two start at 7. Five publish class fees, from $50 to $100 a class, and two run free trials. Browse coding classes for kids on Jungle.

Most coding schools say they teach from 4 or 5. What a 5-year-old actually gets is rarely a screen. Nullspace Robotics has children code a Bee-Bot floor robot with picture cards. The Lab calls the first terms of its Kinder class screen-free. NK Robotics' class for 4 to 6 codes with cards and a pen reader. The screen arrives at 7, when Coding Lab and Computhink take their first pupils and some classes run 2 hours.

This guide covers the nine schools on Jungle that run a coding or robotics class or camp a child aged 5 to 7 can join, checked on their own websites, booking systems and fee sheets on 16 October 2026. Two teach this age only in holiday camps, and two start at 7. Every card says whether the class uses a screen, whether the school mentions reading, how long it runs and what it costs.

Start with what changes between 5 and 7, then the three quick picks. After that every school is grouped by area, with the chains at the end, followed by the year-end holiday camps. If your child is in K2, our guide to P1 preparation classes for ages 5 to 6 covers the rest of the year before school.

At 5, the robot does the work a screen does later. Nullspace's Little Explorer class has children sequence a Bee-Bot with picture cards and drive LEGO models with a motor and remote, which the school says keeps screen time down. NK Robotics' Coding Pioneers page describes gears, motors and sensors coded with cards and a pen reader. School Of Robotics lets you choose from 4: LEGO kits that move and react, a coded LEGO train, or ScratchJr on a screen.

At 6, most children stay in the same class. Nullspace, The Lab and NK Robotics each run one class for 5 and 6 together. Redwood Campus moves 6-year-olds into a 90-minute class where they code robot moves and start on sensors. Coding Lab takes a 6-year-old into Scratch only in the Primary 1 year, because the child must type and use a mouse alone.

At 7, the screen arrives and classes get longer. Coding Lab's Scratch 1 is five 2-hour lessons on a computer. Computhink starts children at 7 on 90-minute Scratch, Minecraft or LEGO robotics classes. Nullspace's STEM Explorer for 7 and 8 runs 2 hours and adds Scratch games, a 3D pen and typing. The Lab Junior is 100 minutes of LEGO robots with touch, distance and colour sensors.

No school here says whether a child needs to read. Where the schools describe how 5 and 6-year-olds code, it is with picture cards, coding blocks or a remote control, not typed words. Coding Lab is the only one to set a skill bar, and it is the keyboard and mouse, not reading.

Is your child ready for a coding class?

  • They can sit and build for an hour. If not yet, start with a 60-minute class at Nullspace, School Of Robotics or Redwood Campus rather than The Lab's 90 minutes or a 2.5-hour camp morning.
  • They can use a mouse and keyboard on their own. If not yet, choose a screen-light class first: Nullspace's Little Explorer, The Lab Kinder or NK Robotics' Coding Pioneers.
  • They are happy to be left for the class. Nullspace's policies are built around parents collecting children at the end, and no school here mentions a parent staying. If not yet, book a single trial before a term or a week of camp.

If you are unsure, a trial class will tell you more than any checklist. The Lab and NK Robotics run free trials, and Nullspace gives free LEGO trial classes at its open house at Kallang Wave Mall on 31 October and Rochester Mall on 1 November 2026.

What Age Can My Child Start Coding?

Your child can start coding at 4, at three of the nine schools here, though before 7 most classes are hands-on robots, not a screen.

NK Robotics' Coding Pioneers, Redwood Campus's My Engineering Intern and School Of Robotics' Stage 1 courses all take children from 4, and School Of Robotics runs a coded LEGO train, Coding Express, from 3. Nullspace and The Lab start at 5, and Children's Worklab and Robotics Connection take children from four and a half in holiday camps only. No school here mentions a parent staying in class.

The next step comes at 7, when the screen arrives. Coding Lab and Computhink take their first pupils at 7, and Nullspace, NK Robotics and The Lab move children into a class for 7 and up, with Scratch or sensors. Redwood Campus moves up a year earlier, at 6, and Coding Lab takes a 6-year-old only in the Primary 1 year.

Quick picks

Best for a first-timer

Nullspace Robotics

Nullspace Robotics

Older primary pupils coding LEGO robots on laptops with an instructor at Nullspace Robotics. Photo: Jungle

STEM Little Explorer is the gentlest start here: an hour long, five children to an instructor at most, and built to keep screens down. Children code a Bee-Bot floor robot with picture cards, then build LEGO planes and carousels spun by a motor. It runs 15 times a weekend at three centres. A trial is $55, or $5 for new customers under a current promotion, and the open house on 31 October and 1 November 2026 has free trial classes.

Price: $520 for a 10-class term ($52 a class), GST included. No registration fee.

The Lab Singapore

The Lab Singapore

The Lab's centre at KINEX in Paya Lebar. Photo: Jungle

The Lab Kinder costs $65 for a 90-minute class on the 10-class plan, about $43 an hour. That is the lowest hourly rate of any weekly class a 5 or 6-year-old can start straight away with published fees: Nullspace works out at $52 an hour and Redwood Campus at $47 to $50. The first class is free, and there is one teacher to four children. Add the $80 registration fee; the site does not say whether GST is included.

Price: $650 for 10 classes ($65 a class), or $2,400 for 40 ($60 a class). $80 registration fee.

Year-end holiday camps for 5 to 7

Six schools here have dated coding or robotics camps for the year-end holidays. A camp lets a child try a week before you commit to a term. Most are booked by the block, and Coding Lab, Computhink and Nullspace limit refunds.

  • Robocamp Apprentice, 4.5 to 7. At Children's Worklab and Robotics Connection, weekly from 23 November 2026, mornings or afternoons of 2.5 hours. $449 for three days to $549 for five. A LEGO WeDo robot built and coded each day.
  • The Lab, Your First AI Character, 5 to 7. Two 2-hour mornings at KINEX on 25 and 26 November or 9 and 10 December 2026. Children design a character in Scratch and train a computer to recognise objects or colours, on screen. Four or five children a group. $230, or $210 for members; the page does not say whether that covers both days.
  • Coding Lab, Scratch 1, from 7. The same course as the weekly class over five weekdays, 2 hours a day: at Parkway Parade from 23 November or 7 December, and at KAP Mall from 30 November or 14 December 2026. $474.15 with GST.
  • Computhink, from 7. Three 3-hour days at Toa Payoh for $367, eight children at most: LEGO Robotics from 26 November, 3, 10 or 17 December, or Scratch from 30 November or 14 December 2026.
  • Nullspace STEM Explorer, 7 to 8. 10am to 12pm on weekdays, every week from 23 November to 31 December 2026 at all three centres, $550 for five mornings (four in the Christmas weeks). Little Explorer, for 5 and 6, keeps its weekend class through the holidays instead.

For every camp across Singapore, see our guide to year-end holiday camps in 2026.

What changes at 8

At 8 most schools move children to a new class. Nullspace's Game Creator teaches Scratch from 8 to 10, and its Robotics Certificate Programme with LEGO SPIKE Prime starts at 9, each level ending in a test that decides who moves up. NK Robotics starts Roboteer at 9. Robotics Connection and Children's Worklab open weekly LEGO robotics at 8, and School Of Robotics moves to SPIKE Essential at 8 and SPIKE Prime at 9.

Competitions come earlier than many parents expect. After 20 STEM Explorer sessions, Nullspace children can join NRC Lower Primary and FIRST LEGO League Explore teams at 7 or 8. School Of Robotics trains NRC Junior teams aged 7 to 9, from its Stage 2 and 3 classes, for $2,900 over two terms, and NK Robotics invites older students into FLL, WRO and NRC teams. None of the classes in this guide has a compulsory exam.

How we picked these

Every school here is listed on Jungle. We checked all 16 schools Jungle lists for coding or robotics on their own websites, booking systems and fee sheets, and kept the nine that run a class, or a dated 2026 holiday camp, that a child aged 5 to 7 can join, and that are still trading. Camps are labelled as camps, and the schools that start at 7 say so.

The quick picks are our judgement: the shortest, most screen-light class with the most published slots, the lowest hourly rate among weekly classes a 5 or 6-year-old can start straight away, and the clearest published route into competitions. Fees, trials, camp dates and timetables were read on 16 October 2026.
