2027 Singapore School Holidays: MOE, Public Holidays and International Schools

In 2027 your child has six weekdays off school that are not public holidays. You will be at work on all six.

They are Tuesday 9 February, Monday 3 May, Monday 5 July, Tuesday 10 August, Friday 3 September and, for primary school children, Friday 8 October. Most school holiday calendars list them. Few point out that they are the days a working parent needs a plan for.

This guide puts the 2027 school holidays in Singapore in one place: the MOE terms and holidays, those six days, the public holidays and long weekends, and the 2027 breaks at 18 international schools, each taken from the school's own calendar. The 2027 MOE School Calendar at a Glance

These dates come from MOE's announcement of 14 July 2026. They apply to MOE primary and secondary schools and MOE Kindergartens.

Three details are worth knowing:

• Staggered start. Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on Monday 4 January. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start a day later, on Tuesday 5 January.
• Exam centres finish early. Schools hosting the SEC examinations end Term IV on Friday 29 October.
• Junior colleges. JC Year 1 and Millennia Institute Year 1 start on Wednesday 3 February.

The Six School Days Off That Are Not Public Holidays

These are school holidays for children but working days for most parents. MOE gives them either as scheduled school holidays or as days off in lieu of a public holiday that falls on a weekend.

Two of them extend something longer. Teachers' Day on Friday 3 September runs straight into the September holidays, so children are off for ten days, from 3 to 12 September. Tuesday 10 August follows the National Day long weekend, so children get four days, Saturday to Tuesday. A third day off in lieu, Monday 27 December for Christmas, falls inside the year end holidays.

Singapore Public Holidays 2027

From the Ministry of Manpower:

The second day of Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday, so Monday 8 February is a public holiday. Labour Day and Christmas fall on Saturdays, so there is no extra Monday public holiday, but MOE closes schools on Monday 3 May and Monday 27 December in lieu.

Long Weekends in 2027

Five long weekends come without taking leave:

• New Year: Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January. School starts the next day.
• Chinese New Year: Saturday 6 to Monday 8 February. Children also have Tuesday 9 February off, so one day of leave gives the whole family four days together.
• Good Friday: Friday 26 to Sunday 28 March, the weekend after the March holidays.
• Hari Raya Haji: Saturday 15 to Monday 17 May.
• National Day: Saturday 7 to Monday 9 August. Children are also off on Tuesday 10 August.

Two Thursdays make easy bridges with one day of leave on the Friday: Vesak Day on 20 May and Deepavali on 28 October. Children are in school on both Fridays, so these bridges suit a parents' long weekend rather than a family trip.

Hari Raya Puasa falls on Wednesday 10 March, two school days before the March holidays begin. It does not join them for children, who are in school on 11 and 12 March.

International School Holidays in 2027

International schools follow their own calendars, and most break at different times from MOE. These dates come from each school's own published calendar, read on 9 October 2026, and run from the first day off to the last, weekends included. Calendars for the 2027-28 school year are only out at some schools; where a school marks its calendar provisional, we say so.

The German European School, Invictus and Hwa Chong International School are not listed: their 2027 dates could not be read from their own sites.

When MOE and International Schools Overlap

If you have one child in each system, three things stand out.

The spring breaks barely touch. The MOE March holidays end on 21 March. Most international schools start Easter on 26 March and return on 12 April, by which time MOE children are three weeks into Term II. Only Singapore American School, ISS and One World International School begin their spring breaks early enough to share two or three days with MOE.

Chinese New Year is short at MOE and long elsewhere. MOE children have four days, 6 to 9 February. Ten of the 18 international schools here take a week or more, and Overseas Family School is off from 4 to 16 February.

Summer overlap runs from three weeks to none. MOE's June holidays run from 29 May to 27 June. Singapore American School breaks from 5 June, so the two share most of June. Schools that finish around 24 to 26 June, such as UWCSEA, Dulwich and Dover Court, share only a few days. Tanglin (from 30 June), Brighton College and the International French School (both from 3 July) share none.

When to Book Camps for Each 2027 Break

Most holiday camps publish dates one to three months before a break, and the popular weeks go to returning families first. Watching for each season's listings at the right time is most of the battle.

Dates Still to Be Announced

• PSLE 2027. The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board has not yet published the 2027 written examination or results dates. In 2026, results were released on 24 and 25 November.
• Primary 1 registration for 2028 intake. MOE has not published the dates of the 2027 registration exercise yet. It has confirmed that Phase 2C will reserve 60 places instead of 40 from this exercise, in most schools.
