Djitsun Mall is a four-storey strata mall on Ang Mo Kio Central 2 that most Ang Mo Kio parents walk past on the way to AMK Hub, and on a Saturday afternoon it holds more enrichment classes than any floor of its bigger neighbour. The reason is simple. There is nothing else in the building for a child: no playground, no kiddy rides, no toy shop, no food court.
Level 1 is restaurants and a nail salon, Level 2 is Harvey Norman and a supermarket with two classrooms beside them, Level 3 is tuition and art, Level 4 is a gym. That makes Djitsun Mall a place you come to for a class, not to kill a rainy afternoon. For the whole town, read our guide to things to do with kids in Bishan and Ang Mo Kio.
The mall opened on 1 August 2013, named after the founder of its developer OEGroup, and its own 2013 blurb promised "Yamaha Music School, The Ballet School and other edutainment centres" on Level 3. The Ballet School has since moved across the road to AMK Hub, and Yamaha's October 2026 timetable does not list Djitsun Mall among its ten schools.
What is left is small and specific: Lego robotics and Python coding, Muay Thai for 7 to 12 year olds on weekend afternoons, Global Art's drawing and clay programme, and The Alternative Story's two-hour English classes from Primary 1 to Secondary 4. This guide covers each with the unit, hours and price, then the free play within a 15-minute walk. Where a centre publishes no fee we say so.
Quick steer
There is no play area inside Djitsun Mall and there never has been. The mall's 2013 launch copy promised "edutainment", which meant music and ballet, not a ball pit. We checked the 2026 listings for the building and found no kids' play tenant on any floor. The five entries below are the nearest free play and the free library coming next door, in order of distance, so that a class on Level 2 can become an afternoon.
The Mini Road Safety Park is a figure-of-eight cycling and scooter track under the MRT viaduct opposite Block 405 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10, with traffic lights, road signs, a zebra crossing and a pretend-play shop on one of the traffic islands. The viaduct is the roof, so it is fully sheltered and usable in rain.
It is small. A four-year-old on a balance bike gets a morning out of it; a nine-year-old gets 20 minutes. Admission is free and the park is lit from 7pm to 7am. Two playgrounds, including the one at Block 406, are within five minutes on foot, and there is a fitness corner for the adult.
Why kids will love it: Stopping at a real red light on their own scooter, then "shopping" at the island shop. Best for ages 3 to 7. Bring the scooter or bike, because there is nothing to borrow, and go before 10am or after 5pm when the concrete has cooled.

Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is 62 hectares of lawn and river, and its Adventure Playground near the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 entrance is the biggest free playground in the north-east: a pirate ship with slides, a climbing structure, swings with bucket seats for toddlers, and separate sand and rubber-floored areas. It is open 24 hours and unsupervised.
From Djitsun Mall it is a 20-minute walk south along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, or a short bus ride down Avenue 1. As of 1 October 2026 NParks has closed the park entrance at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Marymount Road and two of the river bridges for works running to December, so enter further along Avenue 1.
Why kids will love it: Captaining the pirate ship and coming down the slide into sand. Best for ages 3 to 10. Go after 4pm, when the swings are in shade, and bring a change of clothes if you are heading on to the water playground.

The water playground beside the Adventure Playground is fed from the park's cleansing biotope and runs sluice gates, foam climbing shapes and shallow puddles for a child to dam and release. It runs only on Thursdays to Sundays and public holidays, 8am to 11am and 4pm to 8pm, and is dry the rest of the week.
Why kids will love it: Opening a sluice gate and flooding the person downstream. Best for ages 2 to 8. Pack a towel, water shoes and a dry set of clothes; there is no changing room, only the park toilets.

The third playground in the park is built for children with disabilities and plays well for everyone else: wheelchair-accessible swings and a merry-go-round with locking brakes, sand tables at wheelchair height, sensory panels with bells and embossed diagrams, and ground and equipment in contrasting colours for children with low vision. It sits next to barrier-free toilets and Car Park A, which is the one to use if you are driving a child who tires easily.
Why kids will love it: A merry-go-round they can spin a sibling on, and sand at table height so nobody has to kneel. Best for ages 2 to 8, and the only playground on this list where a child in a wheelchair is on the equipment rather than beside it.

The standalone Ang Mo Kio Public Library at 4300 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, a seven-minute walk from Djitsun Mall, closed on 31 July 2026 after 41 years. NLB is moving it into the Level 4 space at AMK Hub that Cathay Cineplexes vacated, and the new library opens on 20 November 2026, with tall tree-like shelving and reading zones themed on the estate.
Until then NLB has a temporary reading node outside the hoardings on Level 4 of AMK Hub, due to run to 29 October 2026, which is a corner of books rather than a library. If your Djitsun class ends at 4pm, the walk across Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 to AMK Hub is five minutes.
Why kids will love it: From November, a brand new children's section a lift ride above the bus interchange. Until then, the reading node is enough for a 20-minute cool-down between a class and the bus. Best for ages 2 to 12. Opening hours are not yet published, so check NLB's site before a special trip.

Back inside Djitsun Mall, the small things are small. Harvey Norman on Level 2 is where the gaming consoles are, which is the closest thing to a toy department. Scarlett Supermarket at #02-03, open 9am to 11pm, is the snack stop before a class. There is no kids' salon, no paediatric clinic and no children's bookshop in the building.
Four enrichment centres operate here, two on Level 2 and two on Level 3, all on Jungle. Three offer a trial: Prakaipetch's is free, Global Art's is a free consultation, and School Of Robotics charges $50, offset against enrolment within seven days. The Alternative Story takes trial requests by form.

Photo: School Of Robotics (SOR), Jungle listing
School Of Robotics at #02-01/02 is the Ang Mo Kio branch of a three-centre robotics and coding school headquartered at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, and it is the one tenant in the building that will take a four-year-old.
Robotics runs in four stages: Lego SPIKE Essential, Coding Express and WeDo 2.0 from age 4, SPIKE Essential and SPIKE Prime from 7 to 9, SPIKE Prime from 10, and VEX IQ from 11. Coding runs in parallel from Scratch Junior at 4 through Scratch and PictoBlox at 7 to Python and micro:bit at 10 and Arduino at 11.
Stage 1 lessons are one hour; everything from Stage 2 is two hours. The school also trains for competitions and DSA. Term fees are not published. A trial in Lego Robotics, Scratch or Python costs $50 for 60 minutes, booked online, and the $50 comes off the course fee if you enrol within seven days.
Why kids will love it: Building a Lego robot and coding it to drive, in a room with "ample Lego parts" as the school's own banner puts it. Best for ages 6 to 12. Book the trial for a weekday afternoon; weekends fill with the competition teams.

Photo: Prakaipetch Muay Thai Academy, Jungle listing
Prakaipetch at #02-04 is a Muay Thai gym with a Tampines flagship and branches here and at Choa Chu Kang, and it is the most transparent business in the mall about money. The kids' class, for ages 7 to 12, runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 3.30pm.
A single session is $55, or $45 a session on a 10, 20 or 30-session package, plus a $20 one-off administrative fee for new members. The first 90-minute class is free.
The gym is closed on Mondays and opens from 9.30am on weekdays and 9am at weekends for adult classes, so a parent can train before the child's session. Children train barefoot in sportswear with hand wraps; gloves are provided or bring your own. Arrive 10 minutes early for the safety briefing.
Why kids will love it: Kicking a pad as hard as they are allowed to, and a coach who counts in Thai. Best for ages 7 to 12 who need to run before they can sit. The free trial is the best first class in the building.

Photo: Global Art, Jungle listing
Global Art at #03-08 is one of 24 Global Art centres in Singapore, a franchise art school that teaches drawing, handicraft, cartoons and comics, acrylic painting and clay in a graded syllabus from age 3 up to the teens.
The Ang Mo Kio centre is run by a principal, Ms Chloe, and is reached by phone or email rather than online booking. Enrolment starts with a free consultation that includes a diagnostic test of the child's drawing, which is the trial in all but name. Fees are not published; the head office quotes them by centre.
Why kids will love it: A workbook they fill in step by step until a dragon appears, then clay. Best for ages 4 to 10 who like to be shown how rather than left to it. Ask about the holiday workshops, which run at 2.5 hours a session.

Photo: The Alternative Story, Jungle listing
The Alternative Story at #03-04 is an English and creative writing tuition centre with four branches, and the only Djitsun tenant that publishes a full price list. Classes are two hours, 10 to 13 lessons a term, and cost $78.50 a lesson for Primary 1 and 2, $80.50 for Primary 3 and 4, $84.50 for Primary 5 and 6 and $98 for Secondary 1 to 4, before 9 per cent GST, with materials included.
There is a one-off $80 registration fee and an $80 refundable deposit. The 2026 Ang Mo Kio timetable runs weekday afternoons from 2.45pm and weekends from 9am, with Primary 6 "Creative Writing and Oral" and PSLE intensive options. Secondary classes are thin here: Secondary 2 is Sunday only, Secondary 3 and 4 have two or three slots.
Why kids will love it: Writing a story that gets read aloud, in a room of ten rather than a hall of forty. Best for ages 7 to 12. Ask for a trial through the enrolment form; the admin team replies within two to three working days.

Two names you may remember from the mall are no longer in it. The Ballet School Singapore now lists its Ang Mo Kio branch at #03-23 AMK Hub, and AGrader Learning Centre has moved to Jubilee Square. Yamaha Music School's Djitsun Mall branch at #03-05/06 is still on Jungle, but Yamaha's October 2026 schedule names ten schools and Djitsun Mall is not one of them, so call 6740 9301 before you walk up.
One of the four offers a free trial and two more charge or waive one. For the island-wide list, read our guide to free trial classes for kids in Singapore. Browse Djitsun Mall classes on Jungle.
There is no food court at Djitsun Mall, and in the 2026 listings we checked there is no McDonald's, KFC or bubble tea chain either. The ground floor has three sit-down restaurants and a supermarket upstairs. One of them has a children's menu with a price on it.
Buddy Hoagies Steak and Grill at #01-08/09 is the Western restaurant on the ground floor, part of an eight-outlet chain that does New Zealand steaks and Swiss rosti at heartland prices. The kids' meal is $7.90 for children aged 10 and under: pasta bolognese, fish and chips, mac and cheese, chicken alfredo or nuggets and fries, each with a free Nippy's fruit juice and two cookies.
An adult can add soup and a drink to any main for $4.90. Prices are before service charge and GST. It opens 11.30am to 10pm daily with last orders at 9.30pm, which covers both the 2pm Muay Thai pick-up and a 7pm post-tuition dinner.
Why kids will love it: Nuggets, fries and a cookie on the same plate, and a root beer float for $4.90 if they have earned it. Best for ages 3 to 10. The lunch sets are the value; book on Saturday evenings.
