Your child sat their last PSLE paper on 29 or 30 September. Secondary 1 starts on Monday 4 January 2027. It looks like three months off. It is not.
P6 pupils stay in school until Friday 20 November. The real gap is the six-week year end break, and three of its dates belong to MOE, not to you: results day, a seven-day window to choose schools, and posting results on 18 December. Working out what to do after PSLE starts with those dates.
The second surprise is age. At 12, a child is the oldest in most holiday camps and too young for many teen courses. The People's Association's Kayaking 1 Star Award asks for 12 years old as at 1 January, so most P6 children wait until 2027. NLB's MakeIT studio sessions start at 13. The Singapore Red Cross recommends Secondary Two education for its Basic First Aid course.
So we checked. On 12 October 2026 we read the dates on MOE and SEAB's own pages, and checked camps and courses on their operators' own sites and booking systems. Everything below takes a 12-year-old in the 2026 break, with dates and prices as published that day.
Key datesResults weekCampsCoursesTripsLow costCosts
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Tue 29 or Wed 30 Sep | Last PSLE papers: Science, then Higher Mother Tongue |
| Fri 20 Nov | Last day of Term IV |
| Sat 21 Nov | Year end holidays begin |
| Tue 24 or Wed 25 Nov | PSLE results at 11am, at the primary school (tentative) |
| Seven days from results | Submit six school choices on the S1 Portal |
| Fri 18 Dec | S1 posting results from 9am, by portal and SMS (tentative) |
| Next working day, 12pm | Medical transfer appeals close |
| Mon 4 Jan 2027 | Term I starts for secondary schools |
The exam dates come from the SEAB 2026 PSLE timetable. The results date is tentative. SEAB says the actual date is confirmed only when all processes are complete, and it is then announced through the media.
Choosing schools. You have seven calendar days, from 11.30am on results day. The S1 Portal is open 24 hours, except on the last day, when it closes at 4.30pm. A parent logs in with Singpass. You can also submit at the primary school, 9am to 4.30pm on weekdays. If results come out on 24 November, the window closes on 30 November; on 25 November, it closes on 1 December.
Appeals. There are two kinds. A transfer for a serious medical condition or severe physical impairment goes through the posted school, by 12pm on the next working day. With results on Friday 18 December, that is Monday 21 December. Any other appeal goes directly to the school you want, under that school's own process.
The school will check three things: your child's PSLE Score meets its cut-off point, which MOE publishes in SchoolFinder in December, after posting; its admission criteria; and its vacancies. These outcomes may only come from mid-January. Your child reports to the posted school in the meantime.
Secondary 1 starts on Monday 4 January 2027. MOE's 2027 calendar starts the school year for secondary schools that day. It gives no separate date for Secondary 1. Reporting details, familiarisation activities, uniforms and textbooks come from each school's own website after posting.
Results come out at 11am at the primary school. The result slip comes with the PSLE certificate. SEAB treats both as controlled documents and does not replace a lost one. If your child cannot collect them, MOE has a proxy form for another adult.
What the slip shows. Each standard subject has an Achievement Level from AL 1, the best, to AL 8. Foundation subjects are graded A to C. Higher Mother Tongue shows Distinction, Merit, Pass or Ungraded, and does not count towards the PSLE Score. The PSLE Score adds the subject levels together, so a lower score is better. SEAB's explanatory note maps it to a Posting Group:
| PSLE Score | Posting Group |
|---|---|
| 4 to 20 | 3 |
| 21 to 22 | 2 or 3 |
| 23 to 24 | 2 |
| 25 | 1 or 2 |
| 26 to 30 | 1 |
Keep the week light. Put nothing on results morning, and nothing with a deposit you would lose if plans change.
Watch the camps that run through results week. Three camps on this list do: Camp GungHo Adventure (23 to 27 November, its only week), Outdoor School's Brave Squad (23 to 25 November) and SAFRA's army camp (25 to 27 November, overnight). A child on Sentosa at 11am is not at school collecting a slip. Book those only if you are happy to use the proxy form. Otherwise pick a later week.
If you want something small in results week, three options fit around it:
Most P6 children were born in 2014. Camps that run to 12 still take them, and most camps stop at 12. The ones below are built for 9 and up, or run older. Every card was checked on 12 October 2026 on the operator's own site or booking system.

Most other year end camps are built for younger children. Children's Worklab's full-day LEGO robotics and stop-motion camp, for example, takes 7 and up, with lunch, from $599 for three days. At 12 your child will be among the oldest there. Browse outdoor and adventure camps on Jungle.
A camp fills a week. A course leaves something behind: a level passed, a project built, a certificate. These run in the break and take a 12-year-old.
Kallang Wave Mall (central) and Rochester Mall (Buona Vista)
Ages 12 to 169.30am to 12pm4 mornings$550
One of the few holiday courses we found that starts at 12. Teams use AI tools to research a problem from the UN Sustainable Development Goals, build an app or software prototype, and pitch it in a competition on the last day. Two runs: 21 to 24 December at Kallang Wave and 28 to 31 December at Rochester. Nullspace's one-day Generative AI workshops, for 9 to 14, cost $137.50.

A one-day drop-off art camp on Fridays 4, 11 and 18 December: gallery missions around Peace Forest and the special exhibitions, then hands-on art-making. Lunch is provided. The Gallery recommends it for 7 to 12, so a P6 child is at the top of the range. For a 12-year-old who draws, it is the best-value full day on this list.

Bedok Reservoir (east) and Sembawang (north)
KayakingOne morning or two daysFrom $27
The water sports arm of the People's Association runs courses on onePA. The catch is age. The Kayaking 1 Star Award, on 12 and 13 December at Bedok Reservoir, asks for 12 years old as at 1 January and a 50-metre swim in a buoyancy aid. Most P6 children turn 12 during 2026, so they qualify from January 2027. The Kayaking Orientation taster at Sembawang on Saturday 5 December, 9am to 1pm, prints no minimum age.
Price: Kayaking Orientation $27 to $30. Kayaking 1 Star Award $72 to $80 for two days. No refunds.
Venues: PAssion Wave @ Sembawang; PAssion Wave @ Bedok Reservoir
Book on Jungle: PAssion Wave, Bedok Reservoir
Brave Squad, above, also teaches basic sailing and wingfoiling on its third day. The Singapore Sailing Federation's Basic Sailing Course starts at 13.
We looked for these and are saying so plainly.
First aid. We found no public course for a 12-year-old in the break. The Singapore Red Cross's Junior First Aid workshop is for 8 to 11, and its only 2026 date was 8 June. Its Basic First Aid + AED course recommends Secondary Two education. St John Singapore's Basic First Aid is built for under-16s, but it is aimed at schools and organisations and is not on its public 2026 course calendar.
Swimming. We found no holiday swimming course aimed at 12-year-olds with 2026 dates on a provider's own site. The kayaking courses above need a 50-metre swim, which is a good reason to book a few lessons first. Browse swimming lessons on Jungle.
Music. We found no music holiday camp for 12-year-olds with 2026 dates on a school's own site. The only dated one we found, at Groove Music School, is for 5 to 7. A trial lesson on an instrument, booked for the quiet weeks in December, is the realistic route. Our guide to 10 music schools lists the schools with trial classes.
Two things pin you down: results day and the seven-day choice window. Results are collected at school, in person or by proxy, and choices need a parent on the S1 Portal or at the primary school during seven fixed days. After that, MOE's calendar is clear until posting results on 18 December.
| Dates | What happens | For a trip |
|---|---|---|
| 21 to 23 Nov | First weekend of the break | Short only |
| 24 or 25 Nov | Results, 11am, at school | Stay, or use a proxy |
| To 30 Nov or 1 Dec | School choices, S1 Portal | Plan around it |
| 2 to 17 Dec | Nothing from MOE | Best window |
| Fri 18 Dec | Posting results, portal and SMS | Possible |
| Mon 21 Dec, 12pm | Medical appeals close | Be reachable |
| After 18 Dec | School reporting details | Check the school |
| Mon 4 Jan | Term I starts | Home by now |
Two practical points. Posting results arrive by SMS and on the portal, so you do not need to be in Singapore to see them. But if you plan a non-medical appeal, read the preferred school's process before you fly: each school sets its own, and some may ask for documents.
Closer to home, there is the Southern Islands camp above, or a family day on Pulau Ubin.
ActiveSG. The Hockey School Holiday Programme is a three-day introduction for 5 to 16, 8.30am to 10am, at Jurong Town (23 to 25 November), Sengkang (25 to 27 November), Boon Lay and Delta (both 27 to 29 November). It costs $54 for members and $77 for others, needs five sign-ups to run, and opens for registration at 12pm on 1 November.
ActiveSG says its credits can offset up to 60% of school holiday programme fees; search SHP60 on MyActiveSG+. Its other holiday sessions, including badminton and archery camps for youth, book on MyActiveSG+, which we could not open.
Community clubs. Book on onePA; vacancies show only after you log in.
NLB. Every programme loaded for the break is free, but this is where the age gap bites. NLB's MakeIT starter sessions (sewing, 3D printing, laser cutting) and its Teens Takeover series are for 13 and up. For 12-year-olds there is the Budding Coders AI workshop on 23 November, and walk-in art and craft sessions for 7 to 12.
On 12 October, NLB had loaded 95 programmes for all ages in the break, 82 of them in November. December is still to come; check NLB's GoLibrary calendar nearer the time.
These are the published prices above, not estimates.
| Option | Format | Cost |

| Nature Explorers | 1 night, meals | $495 |
| GungHo Adventure | 5 days | $640 to $690 |

Read the refund terms before you pay. Get GungHo, SAFRA and PAssion Wave give no refunds if you cancel, and Outdoor School refunds only 30 or more days ahead. In a break with results and posting in it, that matters more than usual.
If the P6 child is the oldest, the younger ones need a plan for the same six weeks. Our year end camps guide covers 24 camps, week by week, with full-day options for working parents.
Every date for the PSLE, S1 posting, appeals and the 2027 school year comes from SEAB and MOE's own pages, read on 12 October 2026. Every camp and course was checked the same day on the operator's own website, booking system, PDF or onePA page, never a roundup. Prices, ages and dates are as published. Where something was not published, we say so. Camps built only for younger children, and camps whose dates print no year, were left out.
